The Effect of Online Learning Process on Speaking Skill

This study aims to find out students' speaking skills during online learning. The research method used is quantitative research with ex-post facto research type. The research population was PGSD students second-semester which amounts to 316 people. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, with 118 students. Methods of data collection using a questionnaire and observation in an instrument. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results showed no effect of online learning on students' speaking skills. Students remain skilled at speaking even in online learning because it is influenced by the mindset of students so that they have the courage and high initiative to respond to the stimulus provided by the lecturer. The ability of lecturers to package impressive learning can also increase learning motivation so that students are more confident in speaking and expressing opinions.

The Effectiveness Of Online Learning Activity Through Students’ Speaking Ability At Ibrahimy University

Online learning activity is one of the most effective lecture methods during the covid-19 pandemic. It can be done using a technology connecting internet by Android smartphone or a computer. Through this lecture is applying an online teaching learning process on the students’ speaking ability. The research objective is to determine the effect of online learning activity method on the university student on speaking at Ibrahimy University of Situbondo East Java. This research uses pre experimental research with one group pre-posttest design. The number of respondents was 07 persons who take an online learning activity. The data was taken using an application of kinemaster as pretest and posttest scores. The final data that can be conclude by comparing a mean score of the pretest and posttest. The average of pretest shows 49,3 and the average of posttest score shows 63,6.

Students’ Perception of Speaking Practice in Online Classroom Activities

Perception is individual’s feeling and thinking about something that ever done. Students should have their own perception about speaking activity that their interest with. This study used a systematic review, namely the research process by identifying previous research. Furthermore, this research applies a systematic analysis method that identifies the literature available on Google Scholar. The objective of this research is to describe the students' problems in developing speaking skill at eleventh grade SMA Darul Hijrah Putra Martapura school year 2017/2018. In this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative as the research design. The population of this research is students at SMA Darul Hijrah Putra Martapura and the samples of this research are 36 students from class XI SMA. Teaching and learning process is constantly transforming due to the ever-increasing globalization. In the educational sector the use of information and communication technology (ICT) is constantly changing due to the increasing trend in globalization. This has resulted in the change and transformation the facet of education in this 21st century. The various usage of technologies and other forms of learning materials that have been extensively used has created a medium where students able to be interactive because it is learner centred, and the environment of online learning is more open and flexible. However, several studies showed that students prefer traditional classroom more because they would prefer face-to-face communication with their instructor. Thus, this study intends to explore the perspective of learning listening and speaking using online among L2 learners. A total number of 102 university students at UiTM Perak Branch took part in this study. They were instructed to answer a set of questionnaires which was created using google document. From the findings the students reported that they do see the benefits of online learning. In addition, they found learning through this interactive medium as interesting and provide them space to progress at their own pace in learning. However, this does not portray students' eagerness in which may be due to several factors. This study is hoped to able to highlight the positive aspects of using online as an alternative to the traditional way of teaching listening and speaking.

Improving Students’ Speaking Skill through Yahoo Messenger at University of Iqra Buru - Saidna Zulfiqar bin Tahir

The objectives of research were: (1) to find out whether or not the use of Yahoo Messenger (YM) improves the students’ speaking skill, and (2) to find out whether or not the students are interested in joining speaking class. This research employed Quasi Experimental Time Series Design. The sample consisted of 15 students of second semester of English Department of University of Iqra Buru in academic year 2012/2013. The data were collected through three kinds of instruments: speaking test to obtain data of students’ speaking skill, questionnaire to obtain data of students’ interest, and observation to obtain data of students’ activeness in joining speaking class. Data on students’ speaking skill were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, data on students’ interest were analyzed using Likert scale, and observation data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the research were: (1) the use of Yahoo Messenger in teaching speaking improved the students speaking skill; (2) the use of Yahoo Messenger increased the students’ interest in joining speaking class. It can be concluded that the use of Yahoo Messenger was effective medium to improve the students’ speaking skill in terms of accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility, and YM can increase the students’ interest in joining speaking class.
