Coping Mechanisms of Bachelor of Elementary Education Students in Tomas Claudio Colleges

This research aimed to help Bachelor of Elementary Education students deal with their stressors, as well as help them manage stress. The researchers address coping styles and stressors by conducting a survey to analyze and evaluate the stress factors and coping mechanisms of Bachelor of Elementary Education students at Tomas Claudio Colleges this year. The findings of this study indicate that the students are prone to physical stressors as they experience back pain and feel exhausted even if they did not perform anything physically. Nevertheless, in terms of coping mechanisms, seeking social support is what they want, to have an appointment with a professional counselor whenever a problem arises, and also post their troubles on social media to gain attention. Thus, the students experience physical stress but with the help of social support, they can get through. In addition to the study, the elementary education students also experienced interpersonal relationship stress by being hesitant to ask someone, or inability to mingle with others. In terms of their coping mechanisms, problem-solving is the least option to cope with, weighing 1.93% out of all the aspects of the mechanisms studied. It proposed that a program be developed to aid Elementary Education students with their stressors in terms of providing them with social support. It will also help the Bachelor of Elementary Education students to create harmonious and affectionate school surroundings.

Peranan Kecerdasan Emosional Pada Pemilihan Strategi Coping Pada Mahasiswa yang Bekerja

Students who study while working must balance the demands of lectures and jobs at once. Individuals will make various efforts to master unpleasant demands, also known as coping strategies. On the other hand, emotional intelligence can influence the choice of someone's coping strategy, whether it tends to use problem-focused coping or emotion-focused coping. The aims of this study were to prove the relationship between emotional intelligence and coping strategy. The subjects of this study are 105 work-study computer science students of STMIK Mikroskil Medan selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected from scale to measure emotional intelligence and coping strategy. The analysis of data was performed by Pearson Product Moment Correlation with SPSS 19.00 for Windows. Result showed that there was a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and coping strategy. Another result showed that there was a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping.

Decreasing the academic stress through problem-focused coping strategy for junior elementary school students

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of problem focused coping strategies on reducing academic stress in grade VIII SMP. This research was quantitative study using quasi experimental design with non-equvalent control group design. The population are 180 students. The sample was obtained using purposive sampling technique and gained 10 students consisting 5 students as experimental group and 5 students as control group. The data collection technique used was the scale of academic stress. The data analysis technique used in this study was the wilcoxon non-parametric statistic. The result of the study show the problem focused coping strategies is influential on reducing academic stress (sig=0,042 <0,05). Therefore problem focused coping strategies is influential on reducing academic stress in grade VIII SMP.

An Action Research Identifying and Solving the Problems Encountered By the 7 th Graders in their Coping Mechanisms on their Learning

Students are having difficulties in their coping mechanisms with their new learning environment. Those difficulties existed while they were trying to cope-up especially in the case of their learning techniques. This study aimed to take an action on the problems encountered by the Grade 7 students in coping in terms of their learning techniques. The researchers gathered the data from the chosen respondents through in-depth and open-ended interview guide questions as the instrument of the research. A purposive non-random sampling was used in choosing the respondents from the grade seven students. When the data were gathered and analysed, the researchers have found out that the respondents have difficulties in coping-up because of the problems in their coping mechanisms in terms of their learning techniques. These problems include homesickness, hard understanding of the topic, the teaching problems of the teachers, and personal afflictions. These caused the students to hardly cope-up, for they cannot focus on the discussion and cannot learn directly. So, they made their own learning techniques such as concentrating to the class, listening to the teacher and studying hard. To conclude, these students have found out some learning techniques that could top them up in their new learning environment.

Stress and coping strategies of senior high school students: basis for action plan

This study specifically aimed to make a plan of action on how to reduce the stress level of the Senior High School Students. In order to make a feasible action plan, the researchers determined the stress level and the coping strategies of the male and female students respectively. The researchers used the descriptive method of research. A total of 82 students were the respondents of the study. Adopted questionnaires were utilized in measuring the perceived level of stress and sources of stress of the students. Results showed that both male and female students had an average level of stress. The level of stress of both female and male students is average for academic and financial sources. Moreover, the female students had low level of stress for psychological and health related stressors while the male students had average level for the said stressors. Background: High School Students’ Coping Mechanism. Objectives: research design used descriptive correlational design. This study will evaluate the relationship between the multiple factors that have not been investigated. Methods: The correlational design was appropriate to evaluate the coping mechanisms of the students in relations to stressful situation they are presently facing. PERCEIVED STRESS AND COPING STRATEGIES: A STUDY AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perceived stress and coping strategies of secondary school students. Random sample of 198 government secondary school students were selected for the study. Psychometrically sound instruments to measure perceived stress scale developed by Cohen, Kamarck & Mermelstein (1983) and Coping strategies scale developed by Srivastava (2001). A correlational research design was used in the study. Results revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between perceived stress and coping strategies of secondary school students. The study found perceived stress to be having a significant predictor and correlate of coping strategies of secondary school students. The results of the present study suggest that higher the level of perceived stress, the better the level of coping strategies.
