Consuming media has become a daily habit, if not a necessity. Daily morning our eyes open to updates from our friends and family… even those whom we otherwise don't know. We spent a significant amount of our waking time using one or the other form of media, whatever the purpose may be. What we surf on net has a high impact on the person we become, we are influenced by our peers, by celebrities, by viral trends, and what not. It is like the air we breathe in, its presence can neither be denied nor ignored. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to recognize and manage the emotions of self and others, social media gives us better chances to present ourselves and to understand others. The present study is an attempt to explore the impact of social media usage on the emotional intelligence of an individual. A sample of 1200 students was collected from various colleges of the metropolitan city of Delhi. Emotional intelligence of the subjects was assessed by Dr. S.K. Mangal and Mrs. Shubhra Mangal's Mangal Emotional intelligence inventory (MEII) and time spent on social media was taken to be independent variable along with gender. The results showed that there was no significant difference in internet usage of males and females, also no significant difference was found between emotional intelligence of males and females. The impact of social media usage was seen to be significant only on intrapersonal awareness among all other dimensions and overall emotional intelligence.

This study’s aim is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and social media addiction (SMA) in Communication undergraduate students in Turkey. In addition to EI, the impact of demographic variables and social media use habits on SMA were investigated. For the study, quantitative method was chosen, and an online questionnaire was conducted on 317 Communication undergraduate students in Turkey with 301 participants being the final sample from different cities in Turkey. As a result of the study, analyses indicated that EI and SMA were related at medium and low levels. The EI partly predicted SMA. It was determined with Path analysis that intrapersonal skills, dealing with stress and adaptability could be statistically significant predictors of SMA sub-dimensions virtual tolerance and virtual communication at a negative level, and time spent on social media, number of posts on social media could have a significant impact on students’ SMA at a positive level. This research differs from other research conducted in Turkey in terms of SMA being examined with the focus of EI.

Purpose: This study intends to identify the relationship between university students' emotional intelligence and the increasing usage of social media (facebook). In particular, the relationship of usage features such as the perception of the user about facebook, motivation for opening an account on facebook, duration of usage, frequency of usage, usage time per day, number of friends on facebook, profile features of selected friends on facebook, intended use of facebook, features of shared materials, sections allowed to be seen on facebook, the selected profile picture on facebook and topics perceived as private on facebook with emotional intelligence features of people was explored.
The Factor Analysis of Digital Emotional Intelligence Among Adolescent Students in Bangkok

This research aimed 1) to study the indicators of digital emotional intelligence of adolescent students 2) to investigate the concordance of digital emotional intelligence model with empirical data. The sample used in the study were adolescent students studying in the secondary school in the academic year 2022 in Bangkok from the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 1, Secondary Educational Service Area Office 2, office of Bangkok, and Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The sample group included ten key informants and 400 students. They were chosen by multiple random sampling. The research instrument used for collecting data was a digital emotional intelligence questionnaire with 30 items. The data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis. The research results were found as follows; 1) The components of digital emotional intelligence of adolescent students consisted of 5 components: self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and empathy. 2) The digital emotional intelligence model by the empirical. All variables were appropriate as observed variables of digital emotional intelligence.
The Association between Digital Literacy and Social Intelligence
This present study sought to identify the association between digital literacy and social intelligence. Samples were gathered from 60 undergraduate students studying in management program at a selected public university in Bangkok. A 14-item of Digital Literacy Awareness and a 21-item of Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS) were utilized to evaluate level of digital literacy and social intelligence, respectively. Analysis of Pearson correlation analysis indicated that the overall digital litera cy had no significant relation to social intelligence. Yet, the overall digital literacy was found to have a positive association to social information process (r = .439, p < 0.01), and a negative correlation to social awareness at a low level (r =-.259, p < 0.05). For the limitations, results of this study showed only relationship between digital literacy and some dimensions of social intelligence, but not causation. This study recommended the further study placing more emphasis on studying cause and effects of these variables. For the originality of research, this study was noteworthy to be the first study in this area that attempted to examine the relationship between digital literacy and social intelligence.

With the digitalization and relocation of almost all human communications to the online sphere, social networks have gained great importance and room for maneuver for influence in the domain of lifelong learning. Enabling the rapid sharing of a large amount of information, ideas, but also content in general, has an impact on every user of these networks. This paper aims to show the impact of social networks, that is, the consumption of social networks, on the cultural intelligence of the individual. The subject of this paper was to determine which digital competencies, defined by information constructs Knowledge and Skills, significantly determine the level of cultural intelligence of an individual during his lifelong education, formal and informal, and the primary goal was to create a new information construct. The research was conducted online, using a survey questionnaire containing original metrics of influencing factors on the basis of which the application of quantitative statistical methods designed a conceptual model, a description that can determine the impact of each information construct (Knowledge, Skills, Experience) on digital intelligence development and its impact on degree of cultural intelligence. In this sense, this paper represents a contribution to the field of communication and educational sciences and opens initiatives for further research related to the development of an original methodology for conceptualizing digital communication in the field of non-formal education.
Levels of Social Intelligence Vis-à-Vis Interface of Social-Media Usage: An Exploratory Study

The present study explored social media usage in the context ofuniversity students' social intelligence levels. The study involved a sample of 208 students who were further divided based on their levels of social intelligence. The data was gathered from students usingsocial media for over five years. The findings were analyzed, and interpretations were drawn. Finally, suggestions were made based on the results.
Background: In the contemporary technologically advanced world, surrounded by packed social media usage, has made communication rapid, easy, interactive, entertaining, and almost free. Interpersonal skills have been regarded critically important for the success of an individual in personal life and professional life for the reason that it is a medium of exchanging ideas, matters, and thoughts from one person to another under socially applicable rules or termed as socialization. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, data from 361 teenagers aged 13 to 19 was collected voluntarily by the private and government schools upon request. The sample was drawn through convenience sampling technique due to constraints of COVID-19, where a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was used for data collection. Meanwhile, for empirical analysis, SmartPLS was used which assisted in the confirmatory factors analysis (CFA) in which structural equation modelling (SEM) or also known as PLS-SEM analysis were conducted. The selection of SmartPLS was due to its user-friendly interface and the that it handles the survey data more appropriately. For reliability and validity of construct, Cronbach's alpha, Composite reliability, and Average variance extracted (AVE) were used, and compliance with discriminant validity was also checked.
MENTAL HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF YOUTHS USING SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES (NSSs

Social Network Sites (SNSs) use such as face book, WhatsApp, Instagram, twitters and so on are deeply ingrained into daily lives of people. Especially adolescents spend much time on social network sites and this would become their part of their daily life. It is important to understand the nature of social network sites use among adolescents and its influence on their mental health and emotional intelligence. Gender wise research on teenagers' use of SNSs showed that females use SNSs for chatting with their peer group, whereas males use SNSs for social compensation, learning, and social identity gratifications and they would prefer to unveil their personal information than compared to female counterpart. Correa, studies suggested that usage pattern differed in comparison with gender as a function of personality, thus male with neurotic traits were more likely than female neurotic traits to use SNSs frequently. Results of the present paper confer previous studies where it is pointed out that that a young female who repeatedly used SNSs, more than 5 hours a day had showed changes in her behavior where in use of SNSs interfered in their personal and professional life.
There are many contributing factors to problematic social media use including personality differences, psychosocial factors, and specific use motivations. The present study (N = 444 emerging adults, 75% women) investigated the direct and indirect relationships between trait emotional intelligence and problematic social media use via social media use motives by testing a complex mediation model. Path analyses suggested that trait emotional intelligence was directly and indirectly associated with problematic social media use via two social media use motives: (i) expressing or presenting a more popular self, and (ii) passing time. Results of the present study indicate that trait emotional intelligence may have a role in the motives for using social media as well as the development and maintenance of problematic social media use. Moreover, future studies should focus mediator risk factors between trait emotional intelligence and problematic social media use.
