This study’s aim is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and social media addiction (SMA) in Communication undergraduate students in Turkey. In addition to EI, the impact of demographic variables and social media use habits on SMA were investigated. For the study, quantitative method was chosen, and an online questionnaire was conducted on 317 Communication undergraduate students in Turkey with 301 participants being the final sample from different cities in Turkey. As a result of the study, analyses indicated that EI and SMA were related at medium and low levels. The EI partly predicted SMA. It was determined with Path analysis that intrapersonal skills, dealing with stress and adaptability could be statistically significant predictors of SMA sub-dimensions virtual tolerance and virtual communication at a negative level, and time spent on social media, number of posts on social media could have a significant impact on students’ SMA at a positive level. This research differs from other research conducted in Turkey in terms of SMA being examined with the focus of EI.
The Impact of Social Media Information Literacy on Malaysian Youth’s Emotional Intelligence

Social media has evolved into a network that helps users find information. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are now important sources of up-to-date news and information. In order to give people, the ability to assess, inform about potential threats or effects, and be aware of false information in the network, social media information literacy (SMIL) has been developed. However, that social media can have negative emotional effects that decrease in emotional quotient (EQ) among young people will directly lead to social problems like crime. In this quantitative study, Malaysian youth between the ages of 19 and 40 were examined to determine the impact of social media information literacy (SMIL) on emotional intelligence (EQ). 241 students from three universities in Malaysia who were selected through proportional stratified random sampling and simple random sampling made up the respondents. Data are gathered using a "Google Form" questionnaire and data analysis uses descriptive and inferential statistical analysis to get the results. Social media information literacy (SMIL) and emotional intelligence (EQ) were found to be significantly correlated by Pearson correlation inference analysis. The results of this study have implications for institutions seeking to develop human capital, technology, and media. Other organizations interested in exploring the field of social media information literacy (SMIL) and emotional intelligence (EQ) can use it to meet the sustainable development goals (SDG) in digital sustainability as recommended by UNESCO.
THE SOCIAL NETWORKING PREFERENCES AND THE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF COLLEGE STUDENTS
Social networking via the internet has brought forth changes in the lives of the youth, including gaining an unlimited number of friends. Social networking websites are experiencing rapid growth which allows the Internet community, new and old friends, to get in touch. Social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Skype, and Multiply boast with millions of members using their networks on a regular basis to communicate, share, create, and collaborate with others in the virtual world. Alongside the virtual world is the school which educates students to succeed in life depending on intelligence and control of emotions. Aside from IQ alone, the measure of success includes emotional intelligence, social intelligence, and luck (Goleman, 2005). Other qualities such as trust, integrity, authenticity, creativity, honesty, presence and resilience are as important. These different bits of intelligence are collectively described as Emotional Intelligence.This study was conducted to determine the social networking preferences and the emotional intelligence level of the college students and found out the relationship of social networking preferences and the emotional intelligence level of the college students, as well as, the connection of the profile between the relationship of the social networking preferences and emotional intelligence level of students.

Purpose: This study intends to identify the relationship between university students' emotional intelligence and the increasing usage of social media (facebook). In particular, the relationship of usage features such as the perception of the user about facebook, motivation for opening an account on facebook, duration of usage, frequency of usage, usage time per day, number of friends on facebook, profile features of selected friends on facebook, intended use of facebook, features of shared materials, sections allowed to be seen on facebook, the selected profile picture on facebook and topics perceived as private on facebook with emotional intelligence features of people was explored.
Media Psychology and Emotional Intelligence: Panacea for Social Vices

The rapid and changing technological advancement is worrisome and has prompted reactions, from enthusiasm to cynicism-putting the society in a dilemma. In recent times, the news trending on our media and Social-Media platforms has been that of negativity and social vices such as suicide, pornography and gangsterism, etc. The rate at which the youths in our society and even adults, embrace these vices calls for alarm. The study examined Media Psychology and Emotional Intelligence as a panacea for social vices. Descriptive survey research design was used, while questionnaire was used in collecting data. The sample consists of two hundred (200) respondents from the sampled areas in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The questionnaire consists of forty (40) items each was completed by the respondents. The research shows that Media Psychology, Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social-Awareness and Relationship Management have impact on social vices. Beta values showed that Media Psychology has more effect than Emotional intelligence on social vices. As technology changes our lives, and Educational Technologists interact and handle educational/digital tools, we are compelled to change our world view, which is a challenge to humans. Media psychology and emotional intelligence is the response to this dilemma.
The Factor Analysis of Digital Emotional Intelligence Among Adolescent Students in Bangkok

This research aimed 1) to study the indicators of digital emotional intelligence of adolescent students 2) to investigate the concordance of digital emotional intelligence model with empirical data. The sample used in the study were adolescent students studying in the secondary school in the academic year 2022 in Bangkok from the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 1, Secondary Educational Service Area Office 2, office of Bangkok, and Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The sample group included ten key informants and 400 students. They were chosen by multiple random sampling. The research instrument used for collecting data was a digital emotional intelligence questionnaire with 30 items. The data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis. The research results were found as follows; 1) The components of digital emotional intelligence of adolescent students consisted of 5 components: self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and empathy. 2) The digital emotional intelligence model by the empirical. All variables were appropriate as observed variables of digital emotional intelligence.
Internet has brought a paradigm shift in almost all the vital aspects of life and has become an integral part of our life and society. Although numerous positive aspects of the Internet cannot be ignored; its excessive and pathological use and resulting health hazards have also drawn attention of researchers. The young generation is worst affected by it. The uncontrolled addiction to and obsession with internet leads to various psychological problems and affects mental health which is closely associated with emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence helps create a positive work climate, as it is closely linked with the interpersonal relationships, group dynamics and professional, leadership & managerial effectiveness. Thus, negative affect of internet addiction on Emotional Intelligence may be a big Public Health issue. There is, therefore, a dire need to understand the relationship between internet addiction and emotional intelligence. The present research aims at investigation of relationship between internet addiction and emotional intelligence based on a survey conducted on 1200 Students of various colleges in Delhi-NCR region. The study can be helpful in creating awareness and inspiring active research and thinking to find solutions to reduce the damaging effect of internet addiction on emotional intelligence.

Using applications on social media can make it easier for students to establish communication in cyberspace, such as Instagram social media. However, if you look at the current sit researchers have done, social media has not been done well. Based on the conservation researchers have done, problems arise such as 2.2% difficulty in recognizing self-emotions, 6.7% difficulty in overcoming self-emotions, 15.6% difficulty in motivating themselves, 22.2% difficulty in empathy, and 13.3% difficulty building relationships. The purpose of this study was to find 1) whether there is an influence of Instagram social media use with conscious consumption on emotional intelligence and 2) how much influence Instagram social media use with conscious consumption has on emotional intelligence. This research uses a quantitative approach with survey methods. The population of this study amounted to 55 respondents, with a whole population study. The study was conducted at Xaverius 1 Junior High School Bandar Lampung with respondents of Buddhist students. The study results illustrate a significant influence between the variable use of Instagram social media and conscious consumption of emotional intelligence. The criterion for hypothesis testing is to reject H0 if t count > t table and vice versa. For the distribution t used dk = (n-2) and α = 0.05. Based on data analysis, t count = 3.049 while t table with n = 55 and α = 0.05 obtained 1.673. Then, it can be known that t count > t table (3.049 ≥ 1.673) or sig (0.004 < 0.05). So, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so there is an influence between the use of Instagram social media and the conscious consumption of emotional intelligence of Buddhist students in high schools.
Internet is regarded as a largely pro-social, interactive, and information-driven medium and its use has skyrocketed and affected everyone’s life, specifically, adolescents and young adults, a generation for whom the line between online and real world interaction is practically non-existent and the existence of addictive internet use may exert detrimental effects on their lives. One of the affecting factors of Internet addiction is the level of emotional intelligence. Therefore, the research purpose is to assess the relationship between the adolescents’ emotional intelligence and Internet addiction disorder (IAD). Hence, the research employed a descriptive, correlative method and the sample comprised 400 students who were selected using stratified sampling form all the faculties located in Kharazmi University. The research tools included Internet Addiction test (IAT) designed and developed by Young and The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT). Results indicated that Internet addiction is significantly, negatively correlated to internet addiction. Moreover, results of multivariate regression indicated that appraisal of others’ emotions explains 10.9% of the total variance. With regard to the disastrous effects of internet addiction, especially during adolescent and young adulthood, and the role of emotional intelligence as the predictor of internet addiction, coherent and effective policies should be formulated and developed for those at risk.
