Emotional difficulties among female adolescents after transition to high school
Socijalna Psihijatrija
In stressful circumstances, emotional difficulties become more intensive. This often happens in a period of transition to a higher educational level. The purpose of this survey was to verify the applicability of the Lazarus’ stress model in a specific psychosocial context determined by the girls’ transition from primary to secondary school. We examined the intensity of emotional complaints depending on coping, perceived self-efficacy, and school track during secondary schooling. In this longitudinal study, 216 participants were included in first measurement, 206 in second measurement, and 168 in third measurement. They were examined by use of the CORE-YP questionnaire (Twigg et al., 2009), Stress Coping Scale for Children and Adolescents (Vulić-Prtorić, 2002) and Perceived Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (Muris, 2001; Croatian version by Vulić-Prtorić and Sorić, 2006). The results were analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis. The intensity of complaints...

Glavni prigovor valjanosti i primjenjivosti upitnika licnosti u selekcije svrhe je njihova podložnosti lažiranju odgovora, odnosno namjernom davanju socijalno poželjnih odgovora.

The aim of this paper is to examine students' sociodemographic, pedagogical, andbehavioural characteristics and correlate them to the assessed need for additionalhelp in learning and behaviour modification. There were 300 students from the firstto the eighth grade of elementary school participating in the research. Form teachersvoluntarily made assessments completing an anonymous questionnaire. Resultsindicated that those students who were older and unpopular, with poorer academicperformance and lower socioeconomic status were in greater need of additional helpin learning, regardless of students' gender. Prosocial and cooperative behaviouralpatterns, which are present in students who do not need additional help in learning, have not been identified in these students. Moreover, the results suggested that studentswho needed additional help in behaviour modification regardless of their age andgender, were those with poorer academic performance, unpopular students, and thosewith ...
Programi Za Poticanje Emocionalne I Socijalne Kompetentnosti Kod Djece I Adolescenata 1
Suvremena Psihologija Contemporary Psychology, 2009
During the last decade, a growing number of educational psychology experts, along with academic performance, stress the importance of developing the child's social and emotional skills through schooling. Research indicates that social and emotional competencies can be learned through school-based curriculum activities (Social and Emotional Learning, SEL). Such programs seem to be an effective approach to reducing problem behaviors and emotional distress, while at the same time promoting positive social adjustment and enhancing the academic performance of students. This paper brings a broad overview of existing programs and represents an attempt to classify SEL programs implemented in different countries (primarily in American schools) in the last 10 years. Since the primary goal is to raise interest and increase understanding in experts from education and psychology in order to encourage implementation of such programs in Croatia, the paper gives a critical insight into the conditions in which SEL programs are developed, implemented and evaluated.
Socijalna kompetencija polaznika pedagoško-psihološke i didaktičko-metodičke izobrazbe
Magistra Iadertina, 2015
Socijalne kompetencije nastavnika podrazumijevaju empatiju, komunikacijske vještine, toleranciju, kooperativnost i uzajamnu pomoć, odgovornost prema sebi i drugima, ustrajnost u obavljanju zadataka, odgodu zadovoljstva, kontroliranje nasilnih ponašanja, iskazivanje osjećaja vrijednosti, jedinstvenost i pozitivnu sliku o sebi. Socijalna kompetencija obuhvaća djelotvorno funkcioniranje u socijalnom kontekstu i sastoji se od sposobnosti SOCIAL COMPETENCE OF THE ATTENDANTS OF THE PEDAGOGICALLY-PSYCHOLOGICAL AND DIDACTICALLY-METHODICAL EDUCATION

Series of studies have confirmed the significant correlation between personality traits, selfregulation of learning and academic achievement, although these relations are not simple. Personality traits are important predictors of self-regulation of learning, and both are significant predictors of the explanation of objective and subjective school achievement (school satisfaction). The main objective of this research was to examine the extent to which demographic characteristics of students (age and gender), personality traits, the (meta)cognitive strategies of self-regulation of learning, the coping strategies with school failure and the strategy of seeking social support (as predictors) explain objective and subjective school achievement (as criteria). Total of 457 students from 6th and 8th grade of elementary school and 2nd grade of high school from four elementary and three secondary schools in the Republic of Croatia participated in the study. The results show that objective sch...
