The first aim of this study was to explore the application of digital storytelling in teaching speaking at the students of state senior high school No 1 Pelepat Kabupaten Bungo. Second, it aims to explore the benefits of digital storytelling in contributing to speaking class. Third, it aims to explore the participants’ perception. This study used qualitative method. The data collection technique used was observation, interview, and audiovisual material. The participants were an English teacher and six of twenty-four students of eleventh grade. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data was analyzed qualitatively by using triangulation. Secondary Students’ Experiences in Learning Speaking through Digital Storytelling Project

The present interview study reports on two secondary students of the implementation of Digital Storytelling (DST) in learning speaking. The research question was: what is students' experiences in learning to speak through DST? The research was conducted in the Secondary High School in Cikampek-Karawang in which two students with different levels of English proficiency participated in this study. The data of the research were collected from open-ended questionnaires and interviews. The result shows that there is an improvement in the students' speaking skills after the creation of digital storytelling and students had positive experiences of digital storytelling. Furthermore, the author suggests that DST is beneficial for learning.

The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the used of digital storytelling can improve students’ speaking fluency at SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Makassar. The researcher used a purposive sampling method and took only class XII the sample of the research which consisted of 37 students. In addition the researcher applied an instrument of the research namely oral test. In pre-test and post-tes the researcher gave topics through digital storytelling to stimulate the students to speak in front of the class. Digital Storytelling Implementation for Enhancing Students’ Speaking Ability in Various Text Genres

This research was conducted to investigate the impact of digital storytelling towards senior high school students’ speaking ability in various text genres, and analyze in what extend it works effectively. The researchers used an action research and random sampling technique. The steps in this design are Planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The sample of this research was 34 students of tenth grade science 4. The researchers defined there was difference between Cycle 1 (before giving treatment) and Cycle 2 (after giving treatment). In Cycle 1, only 15 students (44,11 %) could pass standard minimum criteria (KKM) with the upper value 75. On the other hand, Cycle 2 showed 27 students could achieve KKM. In public schools in Malaysia, English is taught for a good 11 years. Nevertheless, it is alarming that although students are able to craft well-written essays, not all of them are able to speak English fluently upon completing secondary school. There is an imbalance of the production skills. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the use of digital storytelling in enhancing students' speaking skills in English and the perceptions of the students with regards to the use of digital storytelling to improve their speaking skills. The study was carried out with 20 Form 4 students studying in a suburban school in Pahang, Malaysia. The main instrument used in this study is the School Based Oral Assessment (SBOA) form which was used for the pre-test and posttest. Their language proficiency was rated as high-intermediate through the SBOA. The results show that there was an improvement in the students' speaking skills after the creation of their Scribe videos and the students had positive perceptions of digital storytelling. Hence, educators could possibly use digital storytelling as a tool to expand their repertoire of teaching strategies and motivate students to speak in English.
IMPROVING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ ENGLISH PROFICIENCY WITH DIGITAL STORYTELLING (research)

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether students of English as a foreign language (EFL) at the Lebanese University (LU) can effectively improve their language proficiency by creating digital stories. To do so, the researcher introduced digital storytelling (DST) as an optional assignment in an EFL communication course offered at LU in the fall of 2017-2018. Participants were 20 second-year student-teachers majoring in EFL education. After the completion of their individual or group digital storytelling projects, all the 16 videos were uploaded on the researcher's YouTube channel and shared on Facebook and WhatsApp. Participants then answered open-ended survey questions about their experience working on DST. Results show that most participants found the activity enjoyable and educational and were eager to repeat their experience, in spite of the technical difficulties they faced. Many participants also reported having gained more self-confidence and improved their Pronunciation, organizational, technical and research skills, as well as their ability to deliver presentations. The majority of participants found the social aspect of DST highly rewarding and enjoyed sharing their work online with their friends and other English-speakers globally. The positive outcomes of this study suggest that DST should be included in the curriculum of university-EFL communication courses. IOJET

This research is to find out the influence of using digital storytelling and motivation on speaking skill of eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Simpang. Out of 66 students, 34 students were selected as sample. The data were taken form questionnaire and oral test. This test was analyzed by using descriptive statistic, normality, homogeneity, pair sample t-test, independent sample t-test and two-way ANOVA. On tow way ANOVA result by SPSS 22, interaction’s score was 0.006 smaller than level of significant score was 0.05. For the result got interaction effect of Digital Storytelling and Motivation on student’s speaking ability. Based on data analysis, student’s speaking skill taught using Digital Storytelling approach increased significantly. Digital Storytelling was effective to improve student’s speaking skill in the experimental group.

ome primary school pupils lack the ability to speak English. The study investigated the effect of using digital storytelling strategy on developing primary school students' English-speaking skills. The study used a quasi-experimental approach. The study recruited 60 pupils; 30 pupils for the experimental group and 30 pupils for the control group. While the experimental group pupils were exposed to storytelling strategy, the control group pupils received regular speaking classes. A speaking skill test was developed and administered. Results showed that the pupils of the experimental group outperformed the control group in post-treatment. The experimental group pupils' oral performance increased after exposing them to different storytelling activities. In storytelling, pupils are encouraged to join in repetitive sentences and have the opportunity to suggest variations in certain elements and aspects of the story.
