ABSTRACT: Azamgarh is situated in Uttar Pradesh. The total population of Azamgarh is 110,983 out of which 57,878 are males and 53,105 are femalesas per 2011 census. The Azamgarhmetropolitan Region constitutes the population 116,172 out of which 60,551 are males and 55,621 are females.86, 779 people are literates out of which 47,506 are males and 39,273 are females according to Census 2011.The population growth rate as per Census 2011 is 14.31%.As per Census of India 2011,the total population of Uttar Pradesh is 199,812,341 out of which the rural population constitutes 155,317,278 and the urban population constitutes 44,495,063.Total Cultivators in Uttar Pradesh are19,057,888 out of which 18,500,982 constitutes rural population and 556,906 are in urban population. According to Indian Census 2011, districtAzamgarh have 32 ndranking in terms of the population in Uttar Pradesh, its population density is 1,221 persons per square km, there are mainly 686 inhabited villages which is highest in number.In this paper, researcher highlights the pros and cons of distributors i.e. Wholesalers and retailers in Azamgarhregion. The survey conducted among three markets i.e. in Azamgarhregion. The sample sizes of 100 respondents are used in this paper..Percentage calculation methods are used and to find out the challenges, opportunities and problems related to business intermediaries of agriculture and allied agriculture items such as milk, curd, fruits etc. ofAzamgarhregion. This study observes that the market intermediaries of agriculture items are more in comparison to allied agricultural items. This paper highlights the government registration, business intermediaries, markets, qualification of owners/entrepreneurs, GSTnumbers, own warehouse facility, mode of transportation etc. Keywords: Rural Population, Business intermediaries, Agricultural business, Supply chain management, ruralmarket, Warehouse facilities etc.
Fruits & vegetables (F&V) crops being high value crops are important in raising the incomes of the farmers besides creating employment opportunities. Fruits and vegetables sector in India has gained its credibility for providing sustainable income, nutritional security and for providing employment opportunities, both in rural and urban areas. India is the second largest food producer in the world, after china and one of the centers of origin of fruits and vegetables with the total production. Various high temperate fruits and vegetables like apples, oranges, pears, peaches, litchis, plums, tomato, green leafy vegetables etc. are widely grown in Himalayas and tarai region of Uttarakhand and are important to the large food processing industry. Fruits and vegetables is one of the most significant and thrust sector of the economy of Uttarakhand state. The entire supply chain of fruits and vegetables in Uttarakhand is laden with the various issues which resulting to poor price realisation of growers on one hand and exorbitant prices paid by consumers on the other. Highly inefficient supply chain and cold chain infrastructure is the major impediment in the path of speedy growth of F&V production sector in Uttarakhand. The present study undertakes a thorough review of basic and contemporary literature available and discussed the issues and challenges related to supply chain of fruits and vegetables sector in state of Uttarakhand, India and suggested the corresponding mitigation strategies. As Uttarakhand economy is based on agriculture, there is a need to develop efficient supply chain which may play an important role in increasing the shelf life of the F&V and in turn reduce the losses and wastages in fruits and vegetables, increase in farmer income, generate employments opportunities for the local peoples, and improve the livelihood of the farmers which leads to the development of Uttarakhand and Indian economy as a whole.

Study on supply chain of vegetables in Kausambhi District, Uttar Pradesh

The present study was conducted in the Sarswan, and Newada, block of Kausambhi, district Uttar Pradesh with the sample size of 200 respondents to know the marketing channel involved in the vegetable growers in which primary and secondary data were used for the analysis with the different analytical tools. The study reveals that a significant portion of vegetable growers prefer to use a combination of marketing channels. This suggests that diversifying marketing strategies is a common practice among these growers, likely to reach a broader customer base and mitigate risks associated with over-reliance on a single channel.

Supply Chain of Vegetables in Ranchi, Jharkhand
The primary focus of this research paper is to know about the challenges and problems of supply chain of vegetables. And also to find out the variation in vegetables which arise due to the presence of different intermediaries and distribution levels. For this paper the extensive literature review is the base and the concept derived from both the primary and secondary sources. The effort is expected to give an insight of the problems and would attempt to suggest remedial measures for cost optimization and efficiency in the supply chain of vegetables from producer (farmer) to consumer. The basic problem lies with supply chain that hikes the prices of these vegetables. Farmers are not getting requisite realization of price commensurate to their efforts due to lack of storage facilities, poor market information and unorganized faulty supply chain.

CHALLENGES AND SOLLUTION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN OF INDIAN VEGETABLE MARKET: A REVIEW
India's population is very high. More than 120 crore people live in India. For that reason demand for vegetables is very high also. India is the second largest producer of vegetables in the world. But due to lack of proper supply chain management a lot of wastage is happening. As vegetables belong to perishable goods, within a short span of time these items will have no use. To reduce the wastage these items require proper storage, packaging, handling and transportation. The main objective of the study is to find out the issues and challenges in the supply chain of vegetables and to find out the solution for the problem in supply chain. The present study undertakes a thorough review of basic and contemporary literature available. The study is based on secondary sources. The information has been collected from various published sources like journals, newspaper, articles, magazines etc and tries to explain the barriers in the supply chain of vegetables. The study found that unavailability of cold chain, poor infrastructural facilities, high cost, wastage of fresh produce are the barriers which are affecting the vegetable sector. The problem of supply chain will be solved by development of cold chain infrastructure, proper connectivity, using modern technology, suitable packaging, awareness and knowledge level of farmers etc. In an agrarian economy like India vegetable plays a very important role. So supply chain of vegetable plays a significant role in developing the food sector.
The present study was conducted to analyze the supply chain of major vegetables in the Darrang district of Assam. Both input and output supply chains for selected vegetables are studied. Input supply chain and marketing channels were identified. The important vegetables selected were brinjal, bottle gourd, tomato and cabbage for detailed analysis. Two important markets viz., Kharupetia and Besimari were selected and from the surrounding villages of each market from which bulk of products come to the market, three villages were selected randomly. A simple random sample of 20 percent was drawn without replacement from marginal, small, medium and large categories of farmers from the selected villages. The majority of the farmers (72.50 %) preferred their input source as a local dealer. For brinjal six numbers, for bottle gourd five numbers, for tomato six numbers and for cabbage, four numbers of marketing channels were identified. Among the farmers, 27.43 percent of brinjal growers, 32.16 percent of bottle gourd growers and 22.68 percent of tomato growers sold their produce through channel no-5 and 34.1 percent of cabbage growers sold their produce to the wholesaler through channel no-3.

Agro business, supply chain management (SCM) means reach agro products to the market in time. The future economic prosperity of Bangladesh depends largely on the prosperity of agriculture. And the success of agriculture depends on ensuring proper supply of agricultural products to the appropriate market. The study found that about 75% of the population of Bangladesh is engaged in agriculture as their source of income. The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the overall logistics support for agro products in context of supply chain management in Bangladesh. This research are used secondary method for analyzing data and information. The author critically reviewed the supply chain management system of PRAN Agro Business Limited which is the largest agro products producer in Bangladesh. The result reveals from the study that the agro products marketing in Bangladesh scrappy supply chain system, lack of transportation facilities, higher transaction cost, multiple market intermediaries, lack of awareness and several other socioeconomic problems facing agro products supply chain management in Bangladesh. Effective supply chain management helps to secure better position in the competitive environment and improve the efficiency of the agribusiness organization. Therefore, current research suggests that marketing facilities should be improved for agricultural products, especially in rural areas.
