Saudi Arabian science teachers and supervisors’ views of professional development needs

Teacher professional development is a prominent feature in the educational landscapes of both developed and developing countries. Teacher development can be conceptualised as a mechanism for driving change in educational systems and/or as a strategy for empowering teachers to improve their professional knowledge and pedagogy. To ensure effective teacher professional development, Science teachers need to be more in control of their own PD. More studies of teacher professional needs have been carried out in Western societies rather than Arab societies. In addition, supervisors' voices in regard to the PD of teachers have not been emphasised by international or national studies. The Educational Needs of a Sample of Faculty Members at the College Of Medicine in King Saud University

This study is an attempt to identify the educational needs of the faculty members in the Faculty of Medicine at King Saud University, This study was carried out using the descriptive approach, and the tool of the study was the survey, which was applied to a sample which consists of)81(members in the Faculty of Medicine at King Saud University. The study concluded that the most important educational needs of the faculty members in the Faculties of Medicine are as follows: Planning Skills: Preparing a detailed plan to teach the curriculum, identifying the initial skills needed by students to understand the lessons. Teaching Environment Management Skills: Preparing the teaching environment for the activities of teaching and learning, maintaining the focus and attention of students. Lesson Presentation Skills: Respecting the diversity and differences in students' thinking, considering logical sequence in presenting ideas. Skills of Communication and Dealing with Students: dealing with students with impartiality and objectivity, listening to students and accepting their ideas. Assessment Skills: Preparing objective tests in line with the curriculum objectives, using the evaluation results to modify weaknesses and enhance strengths.

Interests of Sultan Qaboos University Students “A Comparative Study Based on Gender and Specialty Area”

The present study aims at exploring the interests of the male and female Omani youth enrolled in Sultan Qaboos University, and the obstacles that hamper the fulfillment of these interests. The study sample consists of 562 students)127 males, and 435 females(. 356 of the male and female students are enrolled in Humanities Colleges , while 206 male and female students are enrolled in the Science Colleges. The researchers developed a questionnaire to measure 7 categories of youth interests, including sports, literary interests, artistic, musical, scientific, community service, and recreational interests. By ranking the students' interests, results for the whole sample show that the students' interests were ranked as follows: recreational, literary, scientific, community service, artistic, sports, and musical interests. Regarding the gender differences, female students ranked higher in artistic interests. As for the differences between Humanities and Science Colleges, results show that literary interests and community service rank higher with students of humanities; whereas scientific interest ranks higher with students of Science Colleges. The results were discussed, and recommendations were proposed as to the proper ways of encouraging university students to develop and practice a variety of interests to make a better use of their leisure time.

The aim of study was to identify the degree of innovative leadership practice of academic leaders at the University of Bishah from the point of view of faculty members. The researcher Used the descriptive method to fit it for the purposes of this study and the sample was formed from (209)Faculty member. The result of the survey showed that the degree of innovative leadership practice among the a Academic at the University of Bishah in the sample of the research sample was medium with an average of (3.83) and a standard deviation (0.614). the Following Fields were ranked as follows (Towards persistence towards personal initives towards new ideas towards problems) There were no statistically significant differences (0.05) between the average responses of faculty members at the University of Bishah in their assessment of the degree of academic leader ship practice of innovative leadership which is a attributed to variables (gender ,scientific garage).Experience specialization work place).the researcher, recommendations, including work on the interest of innovation by academy leaders to improve the way of work and do the Tasks Required.

تقييم أداء الهيئة التدريسية في جامعة عمان العربية في ضوء مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين من وجهة نظر طلبة الدراسات العليا

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تقييم أداء الهيئة التدريسية في جامعة عمان العربية في ضوء مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين من وجهة نظر طلبة الدراسات العليا، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (364) طالباً وطالبة من طلبة الدراسات العليا في جامعة عمان العربية في الفصل الدراسي الأول من العام الجامعي (2019-2020م)، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم إعداد مقياس لأداء الهيئة التدريسية في ضوء مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين، وقد أظهرت النتائج بعد تطبيق المقياس وتحليل بياناته؛ أن درجة تقييم أداء الهيئة التدريسية من وجهة نظر طلبة الدراسات العليا في الكليات الثلاث نت متوسطة، كما بينت النتائج عدم وجود فروق تعزى للجنس، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائياً على بعد "السمات العلمية والمهنية" ولصالح كلية الأعمال، وبينت النتائج وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً للتفاعل الثنائي بين الجنس والكلية تعزى للطلبة الذكور في كلية الأعمال. الكلمات المفتاحية: تقييم أداء الهيئة التدريسية، مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين.

Factors influencing the selection of study field in students of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences

One of the important choices of the young people after high school period is to make decision about their future field of study. The aim of this study was to assess the factors affecting the selection of educational field among the students of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences. In this a cross-sectional study, 400 students (24.4% male and 75.6% female) were interviewed in 2009-2010. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and Fisher exact test. Of total students, 71.6% mentioned the reason to choose their field of study was the need of the society, 70.8% interested in the future income of the field, and 34.2% for personal interests. Students should be properly oriented toward their fields of study during pre-university period.

Programs for the gifted and talented: the investigation team - to Shlomo and Yael Sharan - model

This paper provides a broad overview for the model which is created by investigation team-Shlomo and Yael Sharan which sponsored the gifted and talented students. The program provides integrated sponsorship for these students, based on cooperative learning, scientific research and democracy. The main objective of the investigation team is to develop a fully-integrated personality under the democratic social system, and convert the class into an active community of learners who denounce racism and social discrimination, advocates union and developers of their abilities and preparations to confront present and future life. This paper covered definition of talent and excellence, and presented a comprehensive presentation of components of the investigation team's model. We hope that this paper within its framework, by providing a comprehensive and integrated model in the sponsorship of the gifted and talented, as well as to contribute in enhancing the programs of gifted education in the Arab world by live and modern models for their sponsor, especially after we modulation and developed it to be commensurate with the Arab environment.
