The Role of Knowledge Management Technologies at a Polish University – a Case Study

Education and New Developments, 2019

The purpose of this paper was to present an analysis on challenges and barriers connected with the use of technical, or Information Technology (IT) tools of knowledge localization, creation, use, transfer, and codification at a Polish university. A synthetic review of the literature on knowledge management (KM) IT tools is presented. Results of surveys and in-depth interviews on the use of IT KM tools conducted among academic teachers, university IT specialists and university administrative staff from the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw are presented. Discussion and implications are carried out. The main conclusion of the study is that although teachers and researchers are aware of the usefulness of various IT KM tools and are willing to use them in their daily work, there is still room for improvement. Its seems that the main challenge for academic authorities is to conduct a thorough analysis of the real needs of academics concerning KM IT tools and to provide them with both the tools and the knowledge how to use them. A further, more comprehensive research into the matter will be worth conducting.

Towards Web-Based Information and Knowledge Management in Higher Education Institutions

Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2003

This paper is about knowledge management (KM) in organizations and reports the results of a research project carried out in the Department of Informatics (Computer Science) of the University of Beira Interior-Portugal. The study aimed at to identify and to understand knowledge generation, knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing among the actors of a university department. Based upon the study findings, a knowledge management model aimed at to facilitate personal interaction and knowledge sharing within the department is proposed.

The Effectiveness of the Use of Academic Information Systems

Jurnal office: pemikiran ilmiah dan pendidikan administrasi perkantoran, 2021

Use information technology is used as a means that can facilitate a person or an agency in carrying out their work effectively and efficiently. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to determine how effective the use of academic information systems is in the Office Administration Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The informants of this research are all parties who are directly involved in the use of academic information systems, namely students, study program operators, lecturers, and SIA managers at the UNM ICT Center. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of data analysis are presented in the form of a description that describes the procedures, constraints, and solutions in the use of the Academic Information System. The results showed that the effectiveness of the use of academic information systems in the Office Administration Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassarwas classified as quite effective in terms of information quality indicators, namely accurate, timely, and relevant.

A framework for the adoption of Knowledge Management System (KMS) in University of Jos, Nigeria

International Journal of Research and Innovation in Applied Science (IJRIAS), 2019

KMS are information technology (IT) systems that manage the knowledge of organizations, these systems aid organizations generate new knowledge, record, utilize and allocate knowledge. This study examines the adoption of knowledge management systems at the University of Jos. Centred on the UTAUT2 theory, this study puts forth a framework and then investigates its constructs to explain individual's behavioural intentions to adopt knowledge management system. This work also examines the moderating effects of individualism/Collectivism at individual level on knowledge management system adoption. Data was gathered from staff and faculty of the University of Jos using an online questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS to perform an exploratory factor analysis. AMOS was then used to test the model fit and the proposed hypothesis of the research by conducting a confirmatory factor analysis test. The findings of this study showed that performance expectancy, hedonic motivation are important factors that explained individual's behavioural intention to adopt knowledge management system. The results from this study also showed the impact of habit and facilitating condition on use behaviour. The result also showed that the moderating effect of individualism/collectivism at individual level on knowledge management system adoption was significant. Implications and future research works are presented and explained

Model Development of Knowledge Management System At Hasanuddin University

2015

This research is aimed to analyze the direction and the level of significance on the influence of the implementation of knowledge management in Hasanuddin University covering policy, information technology, and culture toward knowledge sharing performance either directly or indirectly through transfer mechanism and motivation. The design of this research is an explanatory research using cross sectional approach with survey, then further analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM). The sample in this research is 327 respondents taken from a total population of 1690 faculty members using a proportional sampling method. Based on the test results, twelve hypotheseswere proven and three hypotheses were not proven. There are three interesting findings against the initial hypotheses as follows: 1) information technology is not directly influenced knowledge sharing performance significantly; 2) information technology has significant but negative influenced toward transfer mechanism, and 3) the influence of information technology toward motivation

Information and Knowledge Management at Higher Education Institutions

Management, 2011

Higher education institutions (HEIs) are organizations staffed with experts in all sorts of fields who contribute their expertise and experience to the endeavor of producing and preserving knowledge. The modernization of higher education (HE) has forced the institutions to store, manage and use existing information and knowledge stores in a better way in order to meet new accountability, effectiveness and efficiency requirements. In this chapter we will discuss some strategic applications of information management at HEIs in addition to proposing a basic structure for IT-services if they are to provide support systems for knowledge management.

Implementation of Systems for Knowledge Management in Republic of Macedonia

Knowledge management is a trend that is increasingly widespread in business circles and small companies as well as in the larger organizational structures.
