Based on gender, there were no significant differences in terms of knowledge, awareness and practices towards environment. However, there were significant differences in terms of attitudes which female students had higher attitude to environment as compared to male students. In terms of disciplines, there was a significant difference in knowledge by students from professional discipline. They had the lowest level of knowledge as compared to students from other disciplines. The Pure Science students had the highest level of awareness as compared to students from other disciplines. In terms of attitudes and practices, there was no significant difference between students from different disciplines of study. There was a significant relationship between knowledge, awareness and attitudes to the practices of environment. Thus, Environmental Education in UKM should be more "hands-on" to form more consistent behavior in protecting the environment.

UNP Research Journal, 2012
The ill-effect of environmental destruction is evident and its future potentialities are immense. Environmental awareness through education, particularly the youth who bear the future responsibility for the stewardship of the environment and pass on their knowledge to future generations is a concern. This study determined the level of environmental awareness, and practices, and attitudes of the selected students of the University Of Northern Philippines (UNP) in terms of seven environmental themes, namely: stewardship, finiteness of resources, diversity and stability, change, material cycle, balance nature, and interdependence. The descriptive surveycorrelational research design was employed using a questionnaire as data gathering instrument. Frequencies and percentages, mean, and correlation analysis were used to treat the data. Results of the study showed that the respondents have very high level of environmental awareness and good practices on the overall environmental themes. The respondents did not favor the cutting of trees, forest burning/forest fires, quarrying, hunting, road widening, squatting, mining, river drilling, use of inorganic fertilizer, and industrialization. Correlation analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between the level of awareness and extent of practice of the respondents along the seven environmental themes. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, it was recommended to improve further the environmental awareness, practices, and attitudes of the students by developing an environmental education program and strict implementation of the laws and ordinances protecting the environment in the University.

Environmental awareness implies not only being knowledgeable about the environment, but also being acquainted with sets of values, attitudes and skills for addressing environment related problems. Students, especially of higher institutions/universities are the hope for future betterment of environment, and for attaining environmental sustainability. The study surveyed environmental awareness level, attitudes, and participation among Lovely Professional University students, (LPU, Phagwara). It attempted to find out students level of knowledge and awareness on environment, their attitudes towards the environment as well as their participation level in environmental protection and improvements. The study was primary data base and hence questionnaire method of data collection was employed. A total number of 250 questionnaires were administered, students` responses were scored, and the data was analyzed using SPSS statistical software employing descriptive statistics. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling in which students were sampled at random around the university so as to ensure an unbiased representation of the total population under study. Results from the study revealed high level of environmental knowledge and positive attitudes towards the environment among the students, but low level participation in environmental protection activities. This implies that, other factors than environmental knowledge and awareness may be the stimulants to induce students` active participation in environmental protection and improvement activities.
