2007 Plotino- Ultrasonics in Endodontics: A Review of the Literature
During the past few decades endodontic treatment has benefited from the development of new techniques and equipment, which have improved outcome and predictability. Important attributes such as the operating microscope and ultrasonics (US) have found indispensable applications in a number of dental procedures in periodontology, to a much lesser extent in restorative dentistry, while being very prominently used in endodontics. US in endodontics has enhanced the quality of treatment and represents an important adjunct in the treatment of difficult cases. Since its introduction, US has become increasingly more useful in applications such as gaining access to canal openings, cleaning and shaping, obturation of root canals, removal of intracanal materials and obstructions, and endodontic surgery. This comprehensive review of the literature aims at presenting the numerous uses of US in clinical endodontics and emphasizes the broad applications in a modern-day endodontic practice. Ultrasonics: An Essential Endodontic Tool -A Review
In modern endodontics ultrasonics plays an important role for the success of endodontic therapy. Ultrasound is sound energy having frequency in the range of more than 20000 Hz. Ultrasonics has recently been used in endodontics for various steps like, modifying root canal access like removal of pulp stones and canal calcifications, activation of irrigating solutions in root canals, ultrasonic removal of posts during retreatment, removal of broken instruments and obstructions from canals, application of sealers to canal walls; condensation of gutta-percha during canal obturation, root end preparation during periapical surgery.
USES OF ULTRASONICS IN ENDODONTICS, A REVIEW.
International Journal of Advanced Research (IJAR), 2018
In the last few years endodontic treatment has advanced with the introduction of new techniques and equipment?s. These have significantly improved the results and predictability of endodontic treatments. Magnification and ultrasonics use in endodontics have prominently increased leading to advanced endodontics. Ultrasonics in endodontics has enhanced the quality of treatment and has become an important adjunct in the treatment of difficult cases. This review aims at enlisting the uses of ultrasonics in endodontics stressing its broader application possibilities in modern day endodontic practice.
Applications of Ultrasonics in Endodontics
2012
The continuous development of science and technology offered medicine a new perspective in diagnose, treatment and health care facilities. This paper presents a special application of ultrasonics in endodontics, an important specialization in dentistry. One of the most important practice in endodontics is finding the additional canals of the molars, that in the most of the cases general practitioners miss. There are presented two case reports of two patients diagnosed with apical periodontitis and investigated with ultrasonics. A piezo generator unit that uses ultrasonics tips to perform dental treatments, from Morita company (J Morita USA) was used. The ultrasonics procedure permitted to access all the canals for an efficient treatment of the apical periodontitis and patients recovered with no complications. Using the ultrasonics in general dentistry practice, and particularly in endodontics and in the presented cases, the predictable results of the treatments and recovery were imp...

Ultrasonic tips in endodontics- A review of literature
IP innovative publication pvt. ltd, 2019
During the past few years, there is great advancement seen in endodontic treatment outcome with the development of operating microscope and ultrasonics. It is an adjunct in the treatment of difficult cases. In present day, almost all the endodontic treatment and surgery can be done easily with ultrasonic. This review of the literature aims at presenting the various uses of US tips and gives importance to the broad applications in a modern-day endodontic practice. Effect of Ultrasonic Instrumentation in Treatment of Primary Molars
The Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice, 2017
ABSTRACTAimThe aim of this study is to describe the protocol used in the treatment of pulpally necrosed primary molars and to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasonic instrumentation technique in primary dentition.Materials and methodsA total of 50 primary molars in 40 children, ranging from 8 to 10 years of age, were endodontically treated using standard protocols and ultrasonic instrumentation. The follow-up was done for each case ranging from 1 to 2½ years.ResultsClinical and radiographic controls showed a success rate of 97.5%, considering an evaluation time of 19 ± 9.02 months.ConclusionThe use of ultrasonic instrumentation in primary molars with pulpal necrosis succeeded in reducing appointment time and showed a high success rate.Clinical significanceUltrasonic instrumentation should be used as a standard protocol in instrumentation of endodontic treatment of primary molars so as to increase the success rate of primary teeth pulpectomies. How to cite this articleSingh R, Barua ...

During the past few decades, the endodontic treatment has benefited from the development of new techniques and devices, which have improved the outcome and predictability. Important attributes such as the operating microscope and ultrasonics have found indispensable applications in a number of dental procedures in endodontics. Objective and case report: This study describes a case of endodontic retreatment of a maxillary first molar in which the second mesiobuccal canal could be located by extending the access to the mesial direction further than usual and by a closer inspection of the pulp chamber floor. Conclusion: The “microsonics concept” has enhanced the quality of endodontic treatment and retreatment, becoming increasingly more useful in applications such as localization of root canal orifices.
The Use of Ultrasonic Instrumentats in the Dental Practice
Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International
The ultrasonic instrumentation in dentistry has been used since the middle of the last century. Improved visualization, ease of operation and precise cutting ability have allowed ultrasonic instruments to be widely used in dentistry. The study considers the possibilities of using ultrasound instruments in various fields of dentistry. Advantages of ultrasonic instruments include conservative preparation of the cavity, less painful caries removal procedure and minimal noise generation. All these improvements are presented in clinical cases. In addition, the gentle effect on soft tissues is a characteristic feature of ultrasonic devices when applied to operative or orthopedic dentistry during the preparation of the cavity. Although some issues, such as high-frequency noise, interference to cardiac pacemakers, and low cutting efficiency compared to conventional high-speed or low-speed air-turbine tools, still need to be considered, the results of previous research show that ultrasound t...
Hand and ultrasonic instrumentation for orthograde root canal treatment of permanent teeth
Cochrane database of systematic reviews (Online), 2008
Endodontic treatment of root canals or root canal treatment is a frequently performed dental procedure and is carried out on teeth in which irreversible pulpitis has led to necrosis (death) of the dental pulp (nerve). Removal of the necrotic tissue remnants and cleaning and shaping of the root canal are important phases of root canal treatment. Treatment options include the use of hand and rotary instruments and methods using ultrasonic or sonic equipment.
