Application of Rack And Pinion Mechanism for Generation of Power through Road Speed Breaker

Energy is the basic need for the development of the modern world. For meeting up the regular demand of energy we need to design a system that will produce electricity without affecting the nature. This paper attempts to show how man has been utilizing and optimizing kinetic energy. Researches show that the world has already had its enough shares of its energy resources. Fossil fuels pollute the environment. Nuclear energy requires careful handling of both raw as well as waste material. The focus now is shifting more and more towards the renewable sources of energy, which are essentially, non-polluting. This paper attempts to show how energy can be produced, stored and used using the road transport pressure or any kind of pressure. The number of vehicles passing over the speed breaker in roads is increasing day by day. There is possibility of tapping the energy and generating power by making the speed breaker as a power generation unit.

Generation of Electricity through Speed Breakers using Rack and Pinion Mechanism

In the present day scenario, power is the major need for day to day human life as well as every sector of economy. The day-today increasing population and decreasing conventional sources for power generation, provides a need to think on non-conventional energy resources. Roads and highways in India are provided with speed breaker to control the speed of traffic in congested areas. This energy loss on speed breakers can be utilized for useful purposes. Here in this paper we are looking forward to conserve the kinetic energy that go wasted, while vehicles move across speed breakers this paper describes the potential of such type of energy available on roads and its utilization for useful work. The mechanism to generate and store energy produced that can be further used for desired purpose is elaborated.

Generation of electrical energy using road transport pressure at speed breaker

This electric generator is a simple operated electro mechanical system which is controlled by gear and electricity is produced by the generator. This electric generator has been designed by using Sprocket and Chain, Gear, Flywheel, Bearing, spring, Generator, and Battery. Our target was to design and Construct a system that will produce Electricity using road transport pressure. When pressure is created on the pressure lever, the wheels of designated system rotate thoroughly and this rotation of wheels produce electricity in dc generator. The generated electricity may be used to meet the local demand. This may solve partially the national power generation problem.

An Electricity-Generating Device Based on Speed Breakers Near Toll Plazas

On roads, speed breakers are provided to regulate the speed of traffic in cities near toll plazas. The potential energy that is lost when a vehicle's weight hits a speed breaker can be put to good use. This paper describes the P.E. of such a type of energy available on roads and its utilization for electricity in toll plazas for performing various tasks. The stages of development of a speed breaker device are described, as is that the mechanism to generate electricity using a DC Hydro Generator and store compressed air with the help of a piston cylinder compressor arrangement. Whenever the vehicle is allowed to skip the speed breaker dome, it gets pressed downwards. because the springs are attached to the dome. With the assistance of the piston cylinder arrangement, the rack is attached to the connecting rod of the cylinder, therefore the downward stroke of the rack can be used for air compression in the reservoir with the help of the piston cylinder arrangement. Simultaneously, a reciprocating piston cylinder arrangement compresses the air and stores it within the reservoir. After that, the compressed air goes to the DC Hydro Generator, which converts the high air into electricity. And now, this generated electricity is employed for various purposes in the toll plaza.

Energy is the primary need for survival especially for mankind. Everything that happens in the surrounding is the expression of flow of energy in one of the forms. But in this fast moving world, population is increasing day by day and the conventional energy sources are lessening. The extensive usage of energy has resulted in an energy crisis over the few years. Therefore, to overcome this problem we need to implement the techniques of optimal utilization of conventional sources for conservation of energy. This project includes how to utilize the energy which is wasted when the vehicles passes over a speed breaker. Lots of energy is generated when vehicle passes over it. We can tap the energy generated and produce power by using the speed breaker as power generating unit. The kinetic energy of the moving vehicles can be converted into mechanical energy of the shaft through rack and pinion mechanism which is an electromechanical principle. Then, this mechanical energy will be converted to electrical energy using generator which will be saved with the use of a battery. The energy we save during the day light can be used in the night time for lighting street lights. Therefore, by using this arrangement sufficient energy can be generated to meet various daily need. This work focuses to generate energy from speed breaker by making gear arrangement. To make the system more efficient a pressure transducer i.e. piezoelectric crystal can be used that will convert vehicle pressure into electrical output. The output of system can also be monitored on real time basis using Wi-Fi based module. This will lessen the dependency on energy produced by conventional process to some extent.

Generation of Electricity through Speed Breaker Mechanism

In the current scenario demand of power is increasing day by day with increasing population. On the other hand energy crisis is also a main issue of today's life and all there is a shortage of conventional energy resources due to its large usage. So, we have to sort out this problem with a technique which will not only overcome this energy crisis but also should be eco-friendly. Many conventional resources are creating pollution so that's why focus is towards eco-friendly solution. This project emphasizes on idea which shows that power could be generated by specially designed speed breakers. A large amount of kinetic energy is being wasted on roads on daily basis in different forms which could be use to generate power and this power can be stored in batteries. This project shows clearly how we can generate power by using rack-pinion method where basically linear motion is converted into rotary motion and then can be used to generate electricity. Large amount of electricity can be generated using this method and this method is eco-friendly.

This study aims to create an automotive-speed-breaker power generator that uses two activation strokes to operate. It transforms the transport drive and brings direct gestures of the rack gear into the revolution of the immobilized gear keyed on the shaft and generator. The machine is motivated by the compression and release of the springs, which raises the machine's output. A stable frame, a dome-shaped prime, a shaft, and flywheel mechanism, a cable and sprocket system, glides, springs, a flywheel, rods, a generator, and a profound series of the battery-operated brand up this device. Utilizing engineering principles, the style was completed considering cost, utility, simplicity of use, durability, and performance. It was created with a model rated at 100kg in mind and is intended to be motivated by vehicles weighing 1,600kg (400kg each wheel).

ABSTRACT In the present day scenario the fossil fuel sources are fast depleting and their combustion products are causing global environmental problems. So it is inevitable to shift towards the use of renewable energy resources which in turn will reduce pollution and saves fossil fuels. For meeting the regular demand of the energy we need to design a system such that electricity can be produced without destroying the nature. Road power generation is an alternative technology which uses the pressure due to the weight of vehicles for generation of power. Our project attempts to show how energy can be tapped and used at a commonly used system, the road speed breakers. The number of vehicles passing over the speed breaker on the roads is increasing day by day. There is possibility of tapping the energy and generating power by making the speed breaker as a power generation unit. The generated power can be used to light up nearby street lights. In the present work, a working model of the power generation unit is made. A similar model of the system has also been modeled in Pro-E. Design of each component is carried out using standard procedures. The components are fabricated and are finally assembled. The linear motion of the lever is converted into rotary motion using a crank shaft. The speed obtained is in turn amplified by using a set of gears. This amplified speed is used to run a generator to produce power. Theoretical calculations of power and the practical power obtained are compared in order to find the efficiency of the power generation unit. The utilization of energy is an indication of growth of a nation. This work utilizes one of the best sources of energy we get in our day to day life.

Electricity is the most necessary form of the energy. Energy is responsible for development of any country. Consumption of electricity is increasing day by day. Now a days most of the electricity is generated by conventional fossil fuels, eventually the conventional power sources will get depleted by the next few decades. This project is about to use nonconventional energy source for power generation. In this method we are generating energy by air compression. All the set up will be placed under speed breaker and when the vehicle will pass over speed breaker, it will generate electricity with the help of air compression device.

GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY WITH THE USE OF SPEED BREAKERS

In this paper we are trying to utilize one such source. Electricity is generated by replacing the traditional speed breakers with some simple mechanism. As vehicles pass over the speed breakers, they spin the rollers which are connected to a generator which in turn generate electricity. This method is an effective way to produce electricity as the numbers of vehicles on the road are ever increasing. Also the cost of fabrication of the model is low. It can be effectively placed near traffic lights, at the entrance of parking lots and any other place where the traffic density is high. Rollers are fixed on a wooden ramp on which vehicle passes. As vehicle passes over it, it starts moving. A chain drive mechanism is provided which transfer the motion to a DC motor/generator for electricity generation. This method provides an efficient way to generate electricity from the kinetic energy of moving vehicles in roads, highways, parking lots etc.
