Analysis of the Conception, Molding and Implementation Process of Creative Enterprise Incubators in the State of Rio De Janeiro / Brazil: a Contribution to the Debate of the Triple Helix

This article discusses the process of design, modeling and implementation of Rio Criativo Enterprise Incubators of the Creative Economy of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – as a partnership initiative between government, entrepreneurial university and new enterprises in the Creative Economy. The motivation for the article was to evaluate the documentation, analysis and understanding of these processes can be worth as a contribution to debate the role of Triple Helix in the generation of public policies. Copyright of the paper resides with the author(s). Submission of a paper grants permission to the 8th Triple Helix International Scientific and Organizing Committees to include it in the conference material and to place it on relevant websites. The Scientific Committee may invite papers accepted for the conference to be considered for publication in Special Issues of selected journals.

Creative incubator model as a catalyst agent to dynamize the creative ecosystem in a cultural city

Entrepreneurial Ventures in the Creative Industries : a Case Study Approach

Creative industries are widely recognized as a highly dynamic part of many economies since it contributes to growth, job creation and internationalization and at the same time appears to be more resilient to economic recessions relevant to other sectors. Despite the fact that the creative industries have been attracting lots of attention among scholars in recent years, the existing theoretical and empirical studies on entrepreneurship are rather limited and many questions, have at best partial answers. In an attempt to provide some empirical evidence on the characteristics of the creative entrepreneurs and the specific challenges and obstacles they have to overcome in their entrepreneurial endeavours we have carried out 19 in-depth interviews with the founders of young firms in different creative sectors in Greece.

The purpose of this chapter is to critically describe the historic methodological process of the Gênesis Institute of PUC-Rio, University Incubator, during its 20 years of operation in Rio de Janeiro together with entrepreneurs of necessity and opportunity. PUC-Rio will qualify as an Entrepreneurial University and the Gênesis Institute as a multisector incubator in the 3rd phase of maturity. Additionally, another aim of this chapter is on supporting the generation of innovative entrepreneurs and ventures in the social and cultural sectors from a historical illustrated vision of cases of incubated ventures.

Conditions for entrepreneurship development in creative industries in Portugal

Creative Industries are at the core of the development of modern societies, fuelling innovation and promoting the development of new business models. However, the adequate conditions for the development of Creative Industries is not usually spontaneous, and must be developed. At the same time, likewise other types of entrepreneurs, creative entrepreneurs present some idiosyncratic characteristics that make them “special”. The creative economy theme has had great emphasis in the last few years due to its important role in the economical, social, political and cultural spheres through generating economic growth, cultural diversification, intellectual capital production among other aspects. 2016 - Entrepreneurship in different contexts in cultural and creative industries.pdf

This study analyzes how hard and soft conditions influence the development of entrepreneurship in cultural and creative industries (CCIs). The study further examines what influence the context has on the effect of these conditions. A multiple multivariate regression analysis examines the importance of both the hard and soft conditions to explain the differences between the United Kingdom and the Mediterranean countries of Portugal, Spain, and Greece. The sample comprises 123 entrepreneurs from the four countries. The use of this method represents an important contribution to the understanding of entrepreneurship dynamics and for the further fine-tuning of entrepreneurship policies in CCIs in different contexts.

The study presented aims to raise questions about the perception of creative producers and their ability to participate and adapt to the emerging economy model, based on the development of creativity and authoral processes of product creation. To this end, it took into account the transformations observed over the past decade wich presented Lisbon as a city with potential to become an exponente in innovation and creative entrepreneurship. From documentary surveys of recent economic indexes and identification of initiatives, brands and copyright producers, some of the factors that favored the development of the sector were verified. The data that make up the research were based on interviews with entrepreneurial designers, whose speeches provided material for further analysis. The analysis of the perspective of the professionals participating in the research points to factors responsible for the processes that contributed to the restructuring of the economy.

This research explores and deepens our understanding of an element of arts infrastructure in the United States: the arts incubator, an organizational form or programmatic initiative that exists at the intersection of artistic production, entrepreneurship, and public policy. The study is a qualitative cross-case analysis of four arts incubators of different types: Arlington Arts Incubator, Intersection for the Arts, Center for Cultural Innovation, and Mighty Tieton, situated within the context of the literature of arts incubators, business incubator evaluation, and a theoretical framework for understanding entrepreneurship in the US arts and culture sector.
