Status Quo of Austrian Timber Construction Sector
2023
The application of industrialized timber in large-volume buildings is considered as one main strategy promoting sustainability in the construction sector. Austrian timber construction ecosystem is mainly conformed by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that are mostly limited to single and multiple housing projects and it is rarely represented in multi-storey buildings. Within a five days' workshop, 19 experts from research and practice including SMEs, discussed the challenges and potentials, and specially the implication of SMEs, by the completion of those, exchanging experiences and expertise. The workshop was inductive coded looking for factors affecting the design and construction process, in which seven categories were defined containing 33 overall concepts with 105 factors embedded. Further, a SWOT analysis was conducted, in which over half of all factors are conflicts, mostly related to the coordination of the team along the process, mainly caused by the lack of an integrated design approach. Highly positive rated are those aspects related to greater levels of prefabrication, while general rising awareness together with political support represent relevant opportunities, and common prejudices a threat. This overview of the sector may help further research to develop strategies focused on handling internal factors to exploit opportunities and minimize threats.
2004
I will use the term "construction sector " rather than "construction industry" having in mind Ranko Bons (1991) observation that the term "construction sector" is more appropriate since construction is composed of several rather different industries. When the term "construction sector" is used during the thesis, it will generally not include civil enginnering projects (physical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, ports etc) that often differ from house construction, in particular with respect to size and the number of trades involved.
IRJET- ECONOMY IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS OF PREFABRICATED STRUCTURES
IRJET, 2020
Prefabrication means investing in preparation, so that things proceed smoothly. Planning and organization must be intensified, interaction issues for an optimization and Cooperation in a multi-trades context has to be defined Cost studies of Buildings is about the understanding and application of costs to buildings and other structures. One of its aim is to ensure that scarce and limited resources are used to best advantage. It is about ensuring that clients receive the best value for money for the projects that they construct. In this paper I have considered Economy in the Construction system through "Pre Fabricated Structure" Building. Prefabrication is an advanced and up-to-date method of Reinforced Cement Concrete construction. The following are the detailed items dealt with this journal paper.
Effective Organizational Structure for Construction Industry: Case Study
This Paper is intended to describe the various types of factors affecting the effectiveness of the organizational structures used in the different types of construction project. Thus the factors of organization affecting the effective working of project can be determined. These factors can be proposed for improvement for both private as well as for Publicproject. The ten main factors & their subfactor are determined through literature review.Thought all ten factors are responsible for the effectiveness of organization; some factors are critically responsible for working of organization. These factors will going to determinethrough this paper. Thus, necessary recommendation will be given for the respective organizations. Thus this paper can be helpful to improve the characteristics of organizations, which can be implemented in future, for major construction projects.
Managerial and Economic Optimisations for Prefabricated Building Systems
Technological and Economic Development of Economy
This paper deals with new realisations of research, scientific development, managerial and economic optimisations – a prefabricated building systems. In the literature, all scientific fields are worked out based on efficiencies, costs, benefits, choice of execution design, technical demands, aesthetical point of view, as well as the total economics. In the present example of a school building for communities in developing countries, the following criteria have been regarded: the optimal superstructure of prefabricated concrete building systems; the particularity of developing countries (eg the climate, the political and economic conditions); the time for construction and necessary innovative developments for an economically optimised superstructure. In addition, alternative construction methods and costs for a simple but variable system which can be adapted to changing functions are suggested.
Organizational and economic efficiency of the polyhierarchic model of construction
E3S Web of Conferences
This study has been done over the years in the field of growing the effectiveness of management in construction companies from the point of view of applied linguistics. The purpose of this work is to share with the scientific community some practical results of the application technology of company process management, in particular linguistic methods of the effectiveness subject to control in natural language. The study deals with the description of the linguistic and management models, views, practical results of their application in the application area to assess the sustainability of production and minimize losses. The authors used the developed technology for practical use, and the article presents the results of this application.
IRJET- The parallel construction industry -Wood Construction
IRJET, 2021
In this paper, the study represents the simplified method of construction of houses by using wooden planks. In today's construction practices the use of various materials hugely impacts the environment from their manufacturing to the execution on sites. For reducing this impact & making the construction industry eco-friendly to some extent, the study of this research is essential. The research includes details of material required. It elaborates the different Components, Materials, Fastening Assemblies, Procedure of construction. The procedure of wood construction from modelling of building in software then the manufacturing of prebuilt wall panels in the factory to installing them on the site & Finishing.
Applying the Kraljic Model to the Construction Sector: The Case of a Prefab Housing Factory
The purchasing strategies in the construction industry have been considered by many writers in construction management as short-term and arms-length. However, a different picture is portrayed in the manufacturing industry, where the purchasing strategies are mostly long-term to secure supply for production. Industrialized building is at the crossroad between construction and manufacturing, which raises the question of what purchasing strategies are applied. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Kraljic model (1983) can be applied in an industrialized housing factory. The purchasing strategies were studied through interviews with the CEO of a timber housing manufacturer in northern Sweden. Industrialized housing manufacturers can take advantage of standardized construction systems and secure production flows that eliminate waste and improve quality. Evidence proves that long-term relationships similar to those in the manufacturing industry also exist in the construction...
