Analysis of spherical circular microstrip antennas
IEE proceedings, 1991
A comprehensive analysis of spherical circular microstrip patch antennas is presented. The dielectric thickness is considered to be thin. Computation of the wall admittance is also presented. The input impedance is computed using the generalised transmission line model. The values of the input impedance and the resonance frequency are found to be comparable with that of a planar structure when the sphere radius is large. The radiation patterns are computed numerically using the method of moments. The effect of different parameters on the antenna characteristics is investigated. Conformity of the antenna to the mounting surface is the most essential requirement of modern communication system, whether it be antenna mounted on vehicles or airborne applications primarily due to the aero dynamical advantages of such antennas. In this paper we present the analysis of a inset microstrip line fed patch on cylindrical substrate with electrically small radius of 0.1 times free space wavelength. We try to analyse the effect that the bending has on the resonant frequency, inset length of the feed line of the patch antenna. We present the design dimensions, S11 & Radiation pattern results for the designed conformal patch antenna. Comparisons of Circular and Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antennas
In the recent years the development in communication systems requires the development of low cost, minimal weight, low profile antennas that are capable of maintaining high performance over a wide spectrum of frequencies. This technological trend has focused much effort on the design of a Microstrip patch antenna. In this work, the pattern of two designs of a Microstrip patch antenna have been analyzed and studied.

In this paper, circularly polarized aperture coupled rectangular microstrip patch antenna for X-band application is proposed. Whenever planar antenna is conformed to cylindrical surface, antenna characteristics such as circular polarization gets disturbed. Proposed antenna design is printed on polyimide (varepsilonr=3.5)(\varepsilon_{r}=3.5)(varepsilonr=3.5) substrate separated by cross slotted ground plane. The conformal antenna design is simulated in CST microwave studio and is under fabrication.

M icrostrip antennas are finding increasing popularity by using their advantages in size, cost and conformity to supporting structure and easy of fabrication. In this paper analysis of circular patch, using Spherical modal Expansion technique (SM E) and design of circular patch at 8.2GHz using IE3D simulator is presented. The solution provided by SM E is analytical and therefore more efficient and accurate than numerical and ray tracing techniques. The properties of SM E are exploited to perform a precision calculation. A sample computation on circular patch is performed to demonstrate validity of this approach and is supported by experimental results.
A Novel Performance Analysis of the Microstrip Antenna Printed on a Cylindrical Body
International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
Performance of a circular patch microstrip antenna is highly affected by the effective dielectric constant of a used substrate material. When the circular patch is conformed on a cylindrical body, the effective dielectric constant is changing with curvature due to the changing in the fringing field. Consequently, some of antenna parameters such as resonance frequency, input impedance, voltage standing wave ratio, return loss, quality factor, and antenna bandwidth are functions of curvature. In this work, we study the effect of curvature on the performance of circular patch microstrip antenna. A mathematical model for the antenna parameters as functions of curvature is also introduced. The model is applied in case of using two substrates of different refractive index values. By extension, the antenna performance was studied through simulation by using method of moments (MoM) which is reliable in solving Maxwell’s integral equations in the frequency domain. The results from simulation...
Antenna Design and Fabrication with Circular Microstrip Patch: A Review
Journal on Today's Ideas - Tomorrow's Technologies, 2021
The paper presents a review on antenna designing and fabrication techniques with Microstrip Patch (MSP) development. The requirements of MSP are remote controlling, mobile communication, space communication and all wireless communication areas. Aim of this development is to provide a new approach of the designing and simulation of circularMSP for 5.8 GHz operating frequency. CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (MWS) facilitates the quick and accurate analysis of high frequency (HF) antennas which gives the responses and results before fabrication of actual patch with complete technology for 3D EM. FR-4 glass epoxy material board is used for fabrication which is admired and adaptable highpressure thermoset plastic laminate grade with superior strength to weight ratios. Circular MSP is easy to fabricate, portable, lightweight and low cost antenna. N9923A Field Fox RF VNA (Vector Network Analyser) were used for studying and testing all the parameters of fabricated MSP.
Conformal microstrip printed antenna
In this paper, the comprehensive study of the conformal microstrip printed antenna is presented. The main advantages and drawbacks of a microstrip conformal antenna are introduced. The earlier researches in cylindricalrectangular patch and conformal microstrip array are summarized. The effect of curvature on the conformal Microstrip antenna patch on conical and spherical surfaces is studied. Some new flexible antenna is given for different frequencies. Finally, simulation software is used to study the effect of the curvature on the input impedance, return loss, voltage standing wave ratio, and resonance frequency.
