Challenging the Multilayered Crises Within Organizations Through Application of Effective Human Resource Strategies (A Crises Management Perspective for Organization’s Effectiveness)

Crises in organizations are not only multilayered but deeply rooted thus compromising their effectiveness. To sustain and compete in the global world, strategic approaches to manage these crises become inevitable. This study explores the existing body of theories on both organisational crises (operational, fraudulent and publicity), and the role of Human Resource practices in managing crises with an intent to develop a framework of application for utilising effective HRM practices in crisis management. We find that it is essential to assess the degree of change and complexity that a crisis might bring into work setting and a high level of awareness of the nature of crises management among employees enhances the chances of better management performance. By comprehending the nature of various crises, and uncertainty factors useful measures can be created to avoid and mitigate organisational crises.

THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN ORGANISATIONAL CRISIS MANAGEMENT

Organizations may encounter some crises in this era which can be out of control, as crises have become an important and influencing event in organizations, Because of the difficulties in gaining control of them as a result of abrupt and rapid changes in the external environment, it is a source of concern for both leaders of organizations and authorities. The most recent example is the current Covid19 epidemic, which has resulted in significant human misery and economic damage in various countries. As we know, every organization has a section for human resources management, and the success of any organization is counted by the efficiency and quality of human resource management. Human resource management practices and the effectiveness of organizational crisis management are two areas of knowledge that were and still the focus of many studies, however, the combination of them, as well as the examination of the link between them and the role that human resource management techniques play in crisis management efficacy, is a novel and essential topic. In this research paper, we tried to explore the role of human resource management in organizations' crisis management activities, we have found out that there is a correlation and impact of human resource management practices ineffectiveness of organizational crisis management facing organizations.

Leadership role of the Human Resources department in crisis situations: The case of COVID-19 pandemic

The paper points out the leading role of the HR department in crisis situations, with special emphasis on the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world in early 2020. Regardless of the intensity and form in which they occur, crises threaten the functioning and survival of organizations. The HR department is an important factor in the successful functioning of organizations and, in a period of crisis, this department takes a leading role in the process of crisis management and subsequent recovery. During COVID-19 pandemic, the HR department of every organization had to confront new challenges in order to protect the health of employees, while ensuring the normal functioning of organizations. In order to find out how this department dealt with crisis that occurred, empirical research with a specially designed questionnaire was conducted and filled in by 108 respondents from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia in 2020. The research results showed that HR department has taken a leading role in preserving the health and safety of employees, as well as in the process of adapting organizations to function in crisis conditions. According to results, the key activities carried out by the HR department in organizations are work from home (wherever the nature of the work allowed), flexible working hours, reorganization of the working space to achieve the required physical distance between employees, improved hygiene measures, etc. In addition, the research results showed that, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, the HR departments took an active role in providing psychological assistance to employees to adapt to new conditions and ways of working.

Reinforcement and Maintenance of Human Resources for Health Systems during Long-Term Crises: A Systematic Review of Systematic Reviews

Background. Human resources are one of the most critical organizational resources, the reinforcement and maintenance of whom require much energy in health organizations, particularly in long-term crises. Many methods have been suggested in this regard; however, there is a need for their integration and clarification. Methods. We systematically searched the international databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, from 2003 to April 2021by using some relevant keywords. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the AMSTAR checklist. Results. The search resulted in 1613 papers, among which there were 16 systematic reviews. The studies addressed a wide range of problems and solutions. Twelve items and four items were classified with moderate quality (AMSTER score 5–8) and high quality (AMSTER score 9–11), respectively. The Impact of Human Resources Management Practices as an Entry Point in Crisis Management

Together with the global economic crisis, the impact of organizational crises on human capital and its performances has become increasingly obvious. From this perspective, the strategic role of human resources' development is crucial, being analyzed in this article. One of the characteristic changes the pandemic triggered in the companies and institutions is that the functions of HRM have been expanded with new activities (e.g. home office, health protection). The respondents indicated considerable new efforts, especially after the second wave, such as replacing plans, providing new employees, and addressing employees' social problems. Our research also highlighted that smaller SMEs regard it as less important to maintain and operate an active HRM function even during the pandemic. With the increase in organisational size (employee headcount and revenue) home office, the new workplace safety and occupational health measures, the hiring freeze and downsizing are substantially more frequent at larger companies as opposed to smaller ones. We are aware of the fact that the practices applied by a country of 10 million people during the pandemic have no substantial global influence; at the same time, the experiences gained and presented here can expand and diversify the methods and toolkits applied in this area.

In Search of Good Practices in Strategic Human Resource Management in Times of Crisis

The article presents the results of a study of the new practices in strategic human resource management in the raw materials industry. An analysis of the approaches and models for adapting to the business challenges posed by the COVID pandemic is made. Conclusions have been drawn on the results achieved and the applicability of the different approaches to the stabilisation, business sustainability, efficiency, and normal running of the production process. The analyzed practices are applicable and useful in other industrial enterprises, which must adapt the work process to the new requirements and real opportunities for the work process.
