A Novel Home Automation System using Bluetooth and Arduino

The main objective of this article is to develop a Home Automation System using Android mobile with Bluetooth Module. Nowadays people are expecting to control the home appliances through remote control. This expectation is fulfilled by our advanced technology. In this article we are using Bluetooth and Android OS to develop a smart home. Modern Houses are expected to have centralized control system, instead of conventional switches which are fitted on walls. If the user wants to control the appliances, they have to move near the wall and control the switches. This method is inconvenient for the elderly and disabled people. So their difficulty to operate the appliances can be supported by the proposed home automation system which has a remote module to control the appliances. Remote controlled home automation system fulfills the needs of the people. Remote control operation is achieved by a smart phone or Tablet which is supported by Android OS. In the smart phone Android App with Bluetooth acts as a transmitter, which sends commands to the receiver Bluetooth module. In this article ARDUINO UNO controller board which contains an Atmega328p IC is used. The loads are interfaced to the Arduino controller using electromagnetic Relays.

Bluetooth based home automation system by N. Sriskanthan , F. Tan, A. Karande

The past decade has seen significant advancement in the field of consumer electronics. Various 'intelligent' appliances such as cellular phones, air-conditioners, home security devices, home theatres, etc. are set to realize the concept of a smart home. They have given rise to a Personal Area Network in home environment, where all these appliances can be interconnected and monitored using a single controller. Busy families and individuals with physical limitation represent an attractive market for home automation and networking. A wireless home network that does not incur additional costs of wiring would be desirable. Bluetooth technology, which has emerged in late 1990s, is an ideal solution for this purpose. This paper describes an application of Bluetooth technology in home automation and networking environment. It proposes a network, which contains a remote, mobile host controller and several client modules (home appliances). The client modules communicate with the host controller through Bluetooth devices. q

SMART HOMES FOR A BETTER LIVING USING BLUETOOTH COMMUNICATION BASED ON ATMEGA MICROCONTROLLER

A smart home covers a variety of theoretical and practical approaches that deals with methodology of living today and in the future . Technology has influenced and changed the life of humans in many ways. To design a device that will be serviceable to others is a huge contribution to the society . Today mobile phones (smart phones, android etc.) can preforms almost all the tasks that once only PCs used to handle. With these advanced features and thought of elderly in mind, a device is designed. This device provides a much more advanced and a safer home to us. Smart home is a complex technology that uses information technology to control the electrical appliances and monitors the environment. The design and implementation presented in this paper is of a device which will use bluetooth technology for basic home automation and a wireless home network is desirable which does not incur any additional cost of wiring. The advantages and disadvantages are also discussed, along with the future scope and application areas.

ADVANCED HOME AUTOMATION

The main objective of this project is to develop a Home automation system using an Arduino board with Bluetooth being remotely controlled by any android OS smart phone. As technology is advancing so houses are also getting smarter. Modern houses are gradually shifting from conventional switches to centralized control system, Involving remote control switches. Presently, conventional wall switches located in different parts of the houses makes it difficult for the user to go near them to operate. Even more it becomes more difficult for the elderly or physically handicapped people to do so. Remote controlled home automation system provides a most modern solution with smart phone. In order to achieve this, Bluetooth module is interfaced to Arduino board at the receiver end while on the transmitter end, a GUI application on the cell phone sends ON/OFF, commands receiver where loads are connected. By touching the specified location on the GUI a prompt will appear which will seek a command. Thus switching ON/OFF the connected loads.

To be able to design a product using the current technology that will be beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the community. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure cell phone based home automation system. The design is based on a standalone Arduino BT board and the home appliances are connected to the input/ output ports of this board via relays. The communication between the cell phone and the Arduino BT board is wireless. This system is designed to be low cost and scalable allowing variety of devices to be controlled with minimum changes to its core. Password protection is being used to only allow authorized users from accessing the appliances at home.

Home Automation Using Microcontroller (Arduino Uno)

International Journal of Engineering Research and, 2017

Automation of the surrounding environment of a modern human being allows increasing his work efficiency and comfort and improves time complexity. There has been a significant development in the area of an individual's routine tasks and those can be automated. In the present times, we can find most of the people clinging to their mobile phones and smart devices throughout the day. Hence with the help of his companiona mobile phone, some daily household tasks can be accomplished by personifying the use of the mobile phone. Analyzing the current smart phone market, novice mobile users are opting for Android based phones. It has become a second name for a mobile phone in layman terms. Home Automation System (HAS) has been designed for mobile phones having Android platform to automate an 8 interfaced microcontroller which controls a number of home appliances like lights, fans, bulbs and many more using on/off relay. This paper presents the automated approach of controlling the devices in a household that could ease the tasks of using the traditional method of the switch. The most famous and efficient technology for short range wireless communication-Bluetooth is used here to automate the system

IRJET-Research Paper on Bluetooth based Home Automation System

IRJET, 2020

Smart Home is a house that uses information technology to monitor the environment, control the electric appliance and communicates with the outer world. Smart Home is a complex technology, at the same time it is developing. A sample house environment monitors and control system that is one branch of the Smart Home is addressed in this paper. The system is based on the embedded system and can act as a security guard of the home. The system can monitor the temperature, humidity, gas density, water immersion of the house. The whole system is a cheaper one, but it provides the full-scale home device monitor and control function. By using the embedded system technique, it is convenient to use and allows simple installation in existing homes, it provide a safe, convenient home to us. The shortage of the system is only can turn on/off the electric appliances and the lack of the wireless function. With the Development of the smart electric appliances, the system must make much progress. This Project is used to control the home appliances controlled according to the user and it also indicates the temperature. The system will get the temperature from the Temperature sensor and microcontroller. Technology is a never-ending process. To be able to design a product using the current technology that will be beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the community. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure cell phone-based home automation system.
