This research aims to test whether if employees are monitored continuously and/or periodically, their performance can improve or, conversely, their performance can decrease. The analysis focuses on interactive control and diagnostic control as management control system models commonly used in various organizations, especially in local government organizations. 140 questionnaires were distributed to heads of budget, accounting, finance and planning divisions at West Java Provincial Government departments, agencies and offices, resulting in 71 pieces that were ready to be processed. The research results show that diagnostic and interactive supervision has a direct positive effect on performance and there is a positive relationship between the management control system and performance which is moderated by the communication variable. Then excessive supervision cannot improve performance and on the contrary adequate supervision by top management and/or higher level managers is deemed necessary to improve performance. Planning for supervision of subordinates is still needed to encourage participation and motivation in an effort to improve performance in an organization.
The Effect of Locus of Control and Communication Toward Employee Performance

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of locus of control and communication toward employee performance in Bank Indonesia representative office of Bengkulu Province. The sampling technique is a census of 48 permanent employees. Data collection using questionnaires and analytical methods used are multiple linear regression, test of determination and hypothesis testing. The results showed that locus of control and communication had a positive and significant effect partially and simultaneously toward employee performance in Bank Indonesia representative office of Bengkulu Province.

Abstract 1. Managers and 231 members of 41 work groups representing 4 diverse organizations participated in an experiment involving disciplinary decisions. Managers and group members responded individually to scenarios describing a group member's poor performance, followed by group members meeting to reach consensus on the disciplinary decisions. As hypothesized, manager disciplinary decisions were more severe than decisions made by individual group members.

To improve the employee performance of PT. Bank Sulut (Persero) Amurang for their employees in order to supporting human resource division, and introduce what will be required to serve them extremely well in future. Bank Sulut has been using control system on employee performance. This research is conduct in Amurang, North Sulawesi. The objectives of this research are to analyze the influence of control system on employee performance at Bank Sulut Amurang partially and simultaneously. This research is the causal type of research where it will investigate the influence of elements on employee performance. Use multiple regression models to answer the research problem. The population in this research are all the employees of Bank SulutAmurang, whereas samples taken by each respondent 70 respondents. The hypothesis testing, this research conduct a conclusion of there is a significant influence of environment, technology, structure, size, strategy and cultureon employee performance at Bank Sulut Amurang simultaneously and partially. This study reveals that culture has influential factors of controlling system at Bank Sulut Amurang, which can support the employees in order to achieve their goals.
The Impact of Performance Management Behaviors on Employee Performance

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between performance management (PM) behaviors and employee performance among various companies operating in Khartoum State; whereas six companies were targeted (two banks, a communications company, and three oil companies). Out of 605 distributed questionnaires, 337 were analyzed (96 from supervisors and 241 from subordinates). The results indicated that supervisors" PM behaviors are significantly related to employee performance. Overall, all PM behaviors except establishing/monitoring performance expectations are positively related to task performance and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Whereas PM behaviors (feedback, communication, coaching, and establishing/monitoring performance expectations) are negatively related to counterproductive work behavior. Based on these findings, companies" managers have the opportunity to improve the overall effectiveness of PM and the employee performance by focusing on increasing the supervisors" engagement in positive behaviors with regard to PM processes, while putting more emphasis on coaching and provision of performance rewards.
Examining a positive psychological role for performance measures

Emerging evidence suggests that management control systems may generate positive psychological effects, leading to higher levels of managerial performance. We extend this literature by examining the extent to which (1) financial vis-à-vis non-financial measures and (2) diagnostic vis-à-vis interactive utilisation of performance measures may be associated with decreasing role ambiguity and increasing psychological empowerment with performance as the ultimate outcome variable. We find that the interactive utilisation of non-financial performance measures can be particularly important for generating a positive psychological experience and (indirectly) increasing performance. Our study contributes further evidence of the psychologically beneficial role played by management control systems.

The purpose of this study seek for relationship between performance management practices and job performance in Berhan International Bank and sought to achieve to assess the employees' perception on performance management practices ,to scrutinize the performance management practices that influence on perceived job performance and to examine to what extent performance management practices affect job performance. The study employed the explanatory design that employed stratified random sampling and used questionnaires to collect primary data. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Performance Management system on the employees' performance of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The study is guided by three research questions which seek to answers whether the existing performance management system of CBE affects the performance of CBE employees. From the total employees of the bank the researcher took employees work in four districts of Addis Ababa city as his total population to take a sample. This is because of the similarity in structure and system across branches and for the difficulty of collecting questionnaires on very remote and far location of branches. Role of Control Modes in Improving Performance: An Essential Facet for Managing Human Resources
Control is an important element to improve organization’s performance and a prerequisite of management process. Control is a process of establishing performance standards, measuring performance and comparing with standards to uncover errors and take corrective actions for better performance. Detailed analysis of control modes shows three major dimensions. These are input control which enhances the quality of workforce, behavioral control improves employee on the job behavior, through ongoing performance evaluation and continuous feedback and output control encourages employees to improve their performance through effective reward management system. Effective control system, in order to monitor employees’ performance is considered to be an imperative process in organizational management. The purpose of current study is to analyze the modes of control (input, behavioral and output control) and their collision with organizational performance. It aims at uncovering important elements of input, behavioral and output control for influencing employees’ behaviors which ultimately leads to improve organizational performance. Research strategy includes analysis of literature based on work of Ouchi, Flamholtz and Cardinal. First half of this paper is based on theoretical framework of Flamholtz and second half is based on conceptual framework developed in order to show relationship between control modes and organizational performance.

The present study investigated the existence of a moderating effect for situational control of performance variance on the relationship between individual differences and performance. An experimental simulation was conducted and validity coefficients were calculated. Results supported the presence of the predicted moderating effect. The implications of these data for validation research and testing programs are discussed.
