This study investigated the status of entrepreneurship education in South-South Nigerian tertiary institution as perceived by lecturers in terms of course contents and mode of delivery. The study population comprised all the 215 entrepreneurship education lecturers in the target institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education) as at March 2015. No sampling was done because the population size was manageable and five research questions guided the study. The survey research design was adopted for the study and a 32-item structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated and tested for its reliability using the Cronbach Apha and a reliability value of 0.89 was realized. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions and determine the homogeneity of respondents’ opinions. The findings revealed among others that entrepreneurship education c...

The correlation results that there is positive relationship between factors influencing attitude and students' entrepreneurial attitude.
There has been emphasis on the study of entrepreneurship in tertiary institutions in Nigeria for both management and non-management students like those undergoing engineering programmes. While much work has been done to assess the relationship between the teaching of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship intentions of recipients, very few studies have been carried out – especially in the Nigerian context – on the perceptions of technically-inclined students to the teaching of entrepreneurship. This study sought to find out the perceptions of engineering students of one university in Nigeria to the teaching of entrepreneurship education (EE). Perception of EE was defined in terms of perceived need for EE, Perceived relevance of curriculum, and Perceived competence of EE lecturers. A census was carried out on the 141 final year engineering students and data were descriptively analyzed using mean and standard deviation, and inferentially, using multiple regression analysis. The study shows that EE was positively perceived across all dimensions. The study further shows a strong positive relationship between perception of EE and entrepreneurial intentions. The study concluded that building a positive perception of EE among students is fundamental to achieving its primary objective
This study investigated the status of entrepreneurship education in relation to the course contents and mode of delivering in South-South Nigerian tertiary institutions. The study population comprised all the 215 entrepreneurship education lecturers in the target institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education) as at March 2012. No sampling was done because the population size was manageable. Five research questions guided the study while five null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The survey research design was adopted for the study and a 60-item structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by four experts and tested for its reliability using Cronbach Apha and a reliability value of 0.87 was obtained. Copies of the instrument were administered on 215 entrepreneurship education lecturers and 200 copies were recovered representing about 92.7 percent. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions and determine the homogeneity of respondents’ opinions. The null hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Z-Score. The findings revealed that respondents agreed that entrepreneurship education course contents are appropriate for preparing graduates to participate effectively in the world of work but the time and resources are found to be inadequately provided while the lecturers mostly used the orthodox lecture method. Consequently, teaching the course is theory-based at the expense of practical training. Strategies such as academic-industrial synergy, predictive expectancy; a motivational strategy, lecturer’s collegiality, follow-up service, consistent internal monitoring and evaluation were seen to be relevant to enhance effective delivering of the course contents. The respondents did not differ significantly in their opinions in all the null hypotheses tested. Therefore, it was recommended, among others, that authorities of tertiary institutions should make conscious effort to engage in symbiotic relationship between institutions and industries (formal or informal) within their localities in order to use their facilities/equipments for students’ effective practical training throughout their academic programme. It was also recommended that the status of entrepreneurship education should continuously be analysed to ensure focus for appropriate action towards the effective delivering of the course contents to guarantee quality assurance that could boost employment generation.

Every country faces the challenges posed by unemployment and shrinking economies and while some are winning, more are actually in and out of recession as the years roll by.. This trend has opened up the need to help more people become entrepreneurial. Entrepreneurship will help improve job availability. The population of the study consisted of all final year students from three tertiary institutions in Edo state. The population of the final year students in these three tertiary institutions was about 30,000 during the 2019/2020 academic section from which a sample of 529 respondents were randomly selected using the simple random sampling technique. The study revealed among others that there is significant difference between gender as well as area of study and student's attitude towards entrepreneurship education; and also that there is no significant difference between age and students' attitude towards entrepreneurship education. The study recommends that students should be assisted to have free hands-on-training in industries of their choice during holidays so they can practicalize the theories learnt in class and that the lectures and practical sections should be made more attractive by giving specialized training to entrepreneurship educators and resource persons.
