This study aims to investigate the relationship between the organizational safety climate and the safety behaviors of the employees. It is been accepted by many researchers that unsafe employee behavior at work place is one of the primary determinants of occupational accidents. More recently researchers suggest that safe/unsafe behaviors of the employees are affected by certain organizational factors. Recent studies accept organizational safety climate as one these factors that affects safe/unsafe behaviors of the employees. In this context, this study conducted in an active shipyard in Turkey, finds that there are significant relations between the four dimensions of the organizational safety climate and the safety behavior of the employees.

In Search of Differences in the Perception of Safety Climate by Employees of an International Manufacturing Company

The implementation of effective workforce safety programmes ought to be linked to an understanding of the specificity of the work in the organisation concerned, taking into consideration the assessment of the level of safety expressed by the professional group representing it at the executive level. The main purpose of the study presented in the paper, which is part of a broader project of researching safety culture in the organisation, is a diagnosis of the safety climate in the Polish branch of an international manufacturing company. The impact of organizational climate on safety climate and individual behavior

Relatively little previous research has investigated the meechanisms by which safety climate aects safety behavior. The current study examined the eects of general organizational climate on safety climate and safety performance. As expected, general organizational climate exerted a signi®cant impact on safety climate, and safety climate in turn was related to selfreports of compliance with safety regulations and procedures as well as participation in safety-related activities within the workplace. Developing a Questionnaire for Measuring Safety Climate in the Workplace in Serbia

This study was conducted because a real method for measuring safety climate had never been developed and assessed in Serbian industry. The aim of this paper was to start the process of developing a safety climate questionnaire that could be used in Serbia. As a starting point a 21-item questionnaire was adopted after an extensive literature review. The questionnaire was distributed at several Serbian factories; 1098 workers responded. After a statistical analysis of the data obtained with the questionnaire and a critical comparison with the available reference results, a final questionnaire with 21 questions, divided into 7 groups, was developed. Effect of safety climate on safety behavior in employees: The mediation of safety motivation

The number of work accidents in production employees is high. One reason is the lack of compliance of employees with workplace safety rules. The necessary aspects that can improve workplace safety are safety climate and safety motivation. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of safety climate on safety behavior both directly and indirectly mediated by safety motivation. Three scales were used in this study, namely the safety behavior scale, the safety climate scale, and the safety motivation scale. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients were 0.898, 0.922, and 0.896. The respondents were 78 employees in the production, processing, and quality assurance section. Data were analyzed using regression analysis. The result showed the direct effect (β = 0.272) and the indirect effect of safety climate on safety behavior (β = 0.281). The effect of climate safety on safety behavior was partially mediated by safety motivation.

This article aims to measure the application of occupational safety and health using Cooper's Reciprocal Safety Culture Model and Confirmatory Factor Analysis method. The objective function of this article is to find out the aspects of safety culture that have been implemented by companies. A questionnaire was circulated to staff on the company's production floor as part of this study. The results of the questionnaire recapitulation were then analyzed using the confirmatory factor analysis method. Based on the score calculation results and the category determination build on the questionnaire scores on each dimension of the safety culture applied to the Steel Company, the safety climate value of 55.58 is obtained, which is on a 'quite good' scale. Perceptions of safety at work: A framework for linking safety climate to safety performance, knowledge, and motivation

Research in the areas of organizational climate and work performance was used to develop a framework for measuring perceptions of safety at work. The framework distinguished perceptions of the work environment from perceptions of performance related to safety. Two studies supported application of the framework to employee perceptions of safety in the workplace. Safety compliance and safety participation were distinguished as separate components of safetyrelated performance. Perceptions of knowledge about safety and motivation to perform safely influenced individual reports of safety performance and also mediated the link between safety climate and safety performance. Specific dimensions of safety climate were identified and constituted a higher order safety climate factor. The results support conceptualizing safety climate as an antecedent to safety performance in organizations.

An investigation of knowledge, attitude and practice of occupational safety and health (OSH) on safety climate at workplace in manufacturing industry

To investigate the safety climate and knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) in the manufacturing industry, also to determine the association between safety climate factors and KAP of safety among manufacturing worker. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 59 respondents from two manufacturing plants located in Gebeng, Kuantan, Pahang. Most of the respondents were Malay (91.5%) and male (96.6%). Participants were administered a set of questionnaires (Cronbach alpha=0.674) that measured the safety climate as perceived by the workers towards their supervisor and KAP of the workers regarding safety-related matters at the workplace. Self-administered questionnaires consisted of 5 points Likert scale used to measure each of the items of safety climate and KAP.
