USER SATISFACTION OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES: A STUDY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO CHENNAI

The Public Library concept consists of four components such as first the lending of study materials for the reference purposes, secondly public funds from the tax or cess on local or national basis, and the third one is service to public with free of cost, finally making available right library resources to access. The public library changed from traditional to modern and its service by automation. The primary data collected from the selected public libraries in Chennai and secondary data collected peer-reviewed journal, books, conferences etc. The sample size out of 1500 respondents 1237 questionnaire were received back resulting in response rate 82.45 (1235/1500*100) percent. The findings of the survey reveal useful facts about User Satisfaction of Public Libraries: A Study with special reference to Chennai. The analysis of data helps the Chi square test and standard Division to use this study. This study also working the SPSS 20 software for data analysis. The majority (28..5%) of respondents point to their opinion to highly satisfied of Chennai Public libraries resources and services.

This study focuses on user satisfaction towards public library resources and services with special reference to Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The study revealed that the highest number of respondents is male (72.62%) compared to female respondents; the highest number of respondents is Students (39.29%); Private Employees (10.71%) are recorded as least number of respondents and most of respondents are holding UG Degree (38.10%); 3.17.86% of the respondents are visiting the library on the basis of ‘daily’; 51.19% of the respondents spends their time in library ‘less than one hour’; 40.48% of respondents are coming to the library to ‘read the books’; 63.09% of the respondents are very satisfied with ‘Children Books’ and 09.52% of the respondents are dissatisfied with ‘Non-Book Materials’; the over-all satisfaction of users of Anna Centenary Library is high about its library infrastructure than library collections, library services and library staff support.

The role of public libraries in providing such goals is troublesome to contradict. Users are the most element of any library. The identification and fulfill of their needs and satisfaction are objectives any library. This paper mainly focuses on the services provided by Thiruvallur District Central Library and satisfaction level of those services from user’s perspective. It's conjointly facilitated the way to perform duties and serving the most effective doable way to satisfy their valuable users attaining their satisfaction level and by decreasing the world organization satisfactory parts of library. The study so simple a descriptive Survey and applied sampling technique over three hundred users of the library. The form used as a tool to gather data and 250 questionnaires were received from respondents out of 300 questionnaires distributed. It had been discovered by the study that the library is taking part in the main role at some extent. However several areas must be revised to fulfill the expectation and intellectual wants of society.

User Satisfaction of Library Resources and Services: A Case Study of Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library

The present study examines the user satisfaction of library resources and services in Krishnadas Shama Goa state central Library. Structured questionnaires were distributed among 200 users to collect their opinions regarding the frequency and purpose of their visit to the library. 160 questionnaires were received and analyzed. The study highlights the opinion of respondents about the available resources, facilities, and services in the library. In this study, it was found that the majority of the respondents are satisfied with the resources and services in the library. The study concludes that the library needs to integrate training program for library users as well as staff for effective utilization of resources and services. There is also need to take Regular feedback from visitors and library members.

User satisfaction on library resources and services: a study of Lakshminath Bezbaroa central library, IIT Guwahati

The study carried out to find the user satisfaction level of the library services and resources provided by IIT Guwahati Central library. Therefore the study focused on the services and library and resource provide by the library. For the collection data a well-structured questionnaire has been designed and distributed among the students. From the analyzed data it is found that majority of the users are satisfied with the library services like lending service, photocopying service, opening hours, physical facility, OPAC and also satisfied with the book and e-resource collections. A few suggestions have been made on the basis of the results.

Users' Satisfaction with Resources and Services of Public Libraries: A Case of Govt. Jinnah Public Library Sahiwal, Pakistan

Public libraries play a pivotal role in the development of national culture, society, economy and other factors. Users have extreme importance when libraries are discussed. Good resources and services are essentially required for library users. The objective of this study was to evaluate the users' satisfaction with the resources and services of a public library. Quantitative research approach based on survey method was used to conduct this study. A structured questionnaire was designed to collect the data from the registered members of Government Jinnah Public Library Sahiwal (GJPLS). Convenience sampling technique was applied to approach sample size of this study. The users were found highly satisfied with the library services including circulation, reference and electronic services. Notice board service was appreciated. The public library was providing efficient internet and Wifi service and it used to connect with its community through Facebook and mobile instant messaging service. Furthermore, GJPLS was holding good collections of books, journals and other sources of information organized with up-to-date catalogue.

Evaluating User's Satisfaction of Information Resources and Services in University Library: A Case Study of Shrimati Hansa Mehta Library the

Academic libraries must provide various services and facilities for users to motivate them to use the library. The general objective of this study was to determine the users' satisfaction with information resources and services provided to all the staff and students in Smt. Hansa Mehta Library, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda Gujarat, India. Some related literature review was put in place in this study. The study adopted the survey method and the population in this study covers the staff and students of Smt. Hansa Mehta Library. A random sampling technique was adopted in this research work. The questionnaire was structured (close ended) and the analysis was carried out by using simple descriptive statistics, results presented in tables, simple percentages and frequencies computed for the data analysis. The findings suggest many librarians should improve their collections and services to complement users' needs and also increase patronage to the library.

User Satisfaction with Library Resources, Services and Facilities: A Study

This study is an investigation of use of user’s satisfaction in library facilities, resources and services of the students of C. S. Bembalagi Arts, SHA. M. R. Palaresha Science and G. L. Rathi Commerce College Library, Ramdurg. 200 questionnaires were distributed among students to collect relevant data and 170 received back. The findings of the study shows that 70 (41.18%) of respondents have the habit to visit to the library daily, majority 95 (55.88%) of respondents are highly satisfied with the collection of general books, majority 90 (52.94%) are satisfied with collection of text books 95 (53.3%) respondents considered circulation services as excellent. The study suggested that college library should carry out user studies at regular intervals and user guidance is necessary to help library users to meet their information needs and make users aware of the available library resources and services.

User Satisfaction of Library Resources and Services: A Survey of Pre- University College Teachers in Karnataka, India

Present study examines the user satisfaction of library resources and services: A survey of preuniversity college teachers in Karnataka, India. Well structured questionnaires were distributed among 125 teachers to collect their opinions regarding the frequency and purpose of visit to the library. Study also highlights the available information resources and services. From the study we found that the majority of the respondents 65 (63.73%) are male followed by female respondents 37 (36.27%). It is also observed that 86 (84.31%) respondents are from rural area. About 35.29% respondents are happy with availability of text books in library. It was found that 58.82% of respondents feel good with circulation service. Further an attempt has been made to give few suggestions based on the analysis of the data.
