Measuring Tourist's Characteristics and Preferences in Selecting A Destination: A Case of Labuan Bajo as A Priority Destination in Indonesia

This study aims to determine the characteristics and preferences of tourists who visit the priority destination Labuan Bajo. A quantitative approach research by Cross tabulation analysis is used to analyze the Primary data obtained from the survey of 240 tourists: 175 foreign tourists and 65 domestics. It is written based on the results of the research done by the student of Tourist Destination Study Program, of STP Nusa Dua Bali. The result shows that tourists' characteristics in geographic aspect is dominated by European, thereafter from the demographic aspect they are dominated by tourist in the age of 26-35 years old and mostly they are undergraduate tourist (bachelor level). From the Psychographic aspect shows that their length of stay are 4-5 days and their expenditure are about >Rp.8.000.000. Although the icon of the destination is Komodo Dragon animal, but surprisingly the result shows that their favorite attraction and activity are not dominated by Komodo Island and to see the komodo, but dominated by the attraction of Padar Island, with diving/snorkeling and hiking/trekking around diving spot in Komodo national park as their major favorite activity during their stay in Labuan Bajo.

Analysis of Factors Affecting the Number of Foreign Tourists to Indonesia

Indonesia's tourism potential can be used as the main driver of the Indonesian economy. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector and analyze the factors that influence the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative analysis method and static panel model analysis. The type of data used in this study is secondary data, including annual time series data for five years, from 2010 to 2014. It also includes cross-section data from nine countries that are the main visitors to the Indonesian tourism sector, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, UK, and the USA. The development and growth of the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector increased in the period 2010 to 2014. The number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia is influenced by the variables of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of the country of origin, economic distance, relative prices, and security dummy which have a significant effect on the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, while the exchange rate and dummy travel warning variables have no significant effect. Therefore, the government needs to maintain the stability of the exchange rate and inflation rate as well as the coordination of related parties and institutions in maintaining political, economic, social stability and increasing the promotion of Indonesian tourism to foreign countries.

Foreign tourist’s attitude to the elements of the developing of tourism in Medan, Indonesia

The purpose of this study is to analyze the foreign tourist's attitude to the elements of the tourist development in Medan. The sample size includes 80 foreign tourists who visited the tourist objects in Medan, Indonesia. A Multi-attribute Attitude Model (MAM) is used to measure the consumer's attitude. There are 10 (ten) attributes that form the elements of the development of the tourism in Medan, including tourist object in Medan, the attraction of tourist object, the road conditions, the telephone network, means of transportation, the hotel service, the system of transport stripe, the security system, the hospitality of the society and the cleanliness of environment. The results show that the hospitality of the society in Medan maintained the highest value (16.38) while the road represented the lowest value (-0.47). The results help the government of Medan in making policy about tourism and preparing the steps of tourism development.

Factors Affecting the Purchase Behavior: A Case Study on International Tourists in West Java Indonesia

This study aimed to examine the effect of predictor variables (Age, Gender, Main Purpose, Frequency Visiting, Length of Stay, Traveling Partner, and Kind of Accommodations) with tourist’s expenditure during the tour in West Java Indonesia. Data was collected from Passenger Exit Survey in Husein Sastranegara Airport on the period of September to October 2013. The result is the relationship between the predictor variables with tourist’s expenditure has a weak relationship, with great influence a total of 16.90%. While 83.20% of tourist’s expenditure variables influenced by other variables outside Age, Gender, Main Purpose, Visiting Frequency, Length of Stay, Traveling Partner, and Kind of Accommodations.

International Tourists Trend: The Case of Indonesian Outbound Tourist in Australia

Type of tourists determines the development of tourism industry in certain region. This paper briefly analyzes the condition from each region in the world. Moreover, Indonesian tourist behavior in Australia is used as the case study to discuss the type of tourists that can influence the tourism industry, especially based on the type of accommodation and the food bought. Literature research is done to present the data in this paper, by using theories of tourists typology.

Tourism in Bali is a large industry and provides income for many families and villages across the island. Bali is one of Indonesian island that lacks natural resources. The diversity of its charming culture and nature makes Bali island visited by various characteristics of tourists from various countries. This study aims to identify the characteristics of tourists, the characteristics of tourist accommodation in the South of Bali area, especially in Canggu region, Legian, Seminyak and Nusa Dua. Analyze the relationship between tourist characteristics and also forms of tourist accommodation in the object of study. This research is descriptive qualitative research phenomenology, where the author examines based on phenomena that occur in the field. Conducting direct observations into the area used as case studies, conducting interviews with tourists living in the area. Based on the results of observations on tourist accommodation and the results of the author's interviews with tourists visiting the object of study, it was concluded that culture, living habits, destination of travel, and the amount of funds owned by tourists greatly influenced the choice of accommodation and which area tourists would go to. The growth and form of accommodation in a tourist area in South Bali, is very dependent on the characteristics of tourists who settled in the region.

This study aims to examine the effect of tourism image, experiential value, and satisfaction on the intention of revisiting the tourist area. The present study used associative analysis to ascertain the link between two or more variables. The study is being conducted in North Sumatera province, Indonesia, specifically in the tourist area of Lake Toba. The research population is comprised of an undetermined number of tourists that visited the tourist area around Lake Toba. The sample size of 324 was determined, which was obtained by multiplying the least number of samples by four or five questionnaire item categories. An accidental sampling approach was employed in this study, and data processing was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics and Smart-PLS software. Information sources a product or service will potentially affect a domestic guest’s purchase decision. The characteristics of guest’s influence the manner in which they search for, rate, and use information about tourism related product or services. The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of domestic guests’ characteristic to Jakarta Star Hotels and information source importance ratings.
