The objective of the study was to evaluate appropriate use of PPE among health care providers in tertiary centres Tamil Nadu.Methods: A cross sectional study was done during November 2014 to October 2015 in two tertiary health care institutions. All health care providers (Doctors, nurses and technicians) who had more than one year experience and gave informed consent were included. Data collected by pretested structured questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS 20v and summarized by descriptive statistics. Proportion and Chi-square was calculated at 5% α.Results: HCPs included in the study were 1060. Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE) continues to play an integral role in prevention of transmission of infection in the healthcare setting. The objective of this study is to determine the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of universal precautions for control of infection among health care workers.Methods: Cross sectional study were conducted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi during the period of November 2018 to January 2019. 151 paramedical staffs were included as study population. Hospitals are a high-risk workplace for the safety and health of Human Resources (HR). Control of sources and potential hazards in hospitals can be done with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE consists of gloves, masks, face/eye protection, protective gowns, and leg protectors. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of PPE on health workers in Bantul X Yogyakarta Hospital. Assess the Level of Practice on Usage of Personal Protective Equipment among Health Care Workers

Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE) provides a physical barrier between microorganism and wearer. It's important to assess the level of compliance with use of PPE by the various health care workers (HCWs) who make direct contact with patients. Methods: Non-experimental descriptive design was used with quantitative survey approach. Setting of the study was in a tertiary hospital, Bengaluru. Samples were all HCWs those who were available during study period. Sample size was total 200. Non probability, purposive sampling technique was used for the study. The data was collected using an observational checklist. Results: Out of 200 HCWs, majority (34%) was nursing students and remaining (33%) of each were doctors, and staff nurses. Percentage wise distribution of HCWs according to the level of practice on usage of PPE in wards showed that majority (60%) had average practice, whereas the lowest percentages (6%) had poor practice. Majority (72%) of HCWs in intensive care unit (ICU), operation theatre (OT) and labour room (LR) had good practice whereas the lowest percentage (1%) had poor practice. There was significant association found between the practice scores on usage of PPE with the selected demographic variables i.e. HCWs, age, educational qualification and years of work experience. Conclusion: Findings of the present study concluded that there is a requisite to improve the practices of HCWs' on usage of PPE. Periodic reinforcement and training programs are needed for all level of HCWs in order to maintain adherence with appropriate use of PPE.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in the Nurses in the Hospital TK II Putri Hijau Medan in 2020. This type of research is an analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted at the Putri Hijau Kindergarten II Hospital, Medan. The population in this study were 152 nurses with a total sample size of 60 people based on the sample count using the Slovin formula. Background: The Protective equipment consists of garments placed to protect the health care workers or any other persons to get infected. All personal protective equipment should be safely designed and constructed, and should be maintained in a clean and reliable fashion. It should fit comfortably, encouraging worker use. If the personal protective equipment does not fit properly, it can make the difference between being safely covered or dangerously exposed. Personal protective equipment (PPE) limits the health care workers contact with all secretions or biological products. This study was planned to find gaps between use of PPE among the health care providers (HCPs) in Pune city. Methods: A cross sectional design was used to assess the usage of PPE among health care workers selected by purposive sampling. The Data were collected by pretested structured questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS 20 version at 5% of level of significance. Results: 60 Health care workers were participated in study. Among them, there were 38.9% doctors, 51.9% nurses and 9.2% were technicians. 18.1% health care workers who work outside the ICU had appropriate uses of PPE. It was high among doctors 31.5% followed by nurses 9.3% and technicians 8.2%. which was statistically significant p=0.001. Conclusions: The study showed inappropriate use and poor usage and practice of PPE among HCWs.

A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge of Labour Workers Regarding Personal Protective Equipments in Baru Sahib, Distt Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh

Introduction: Occupational health deals with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace and has a strong focus on primary prevention of hazards. Personal protective equipment can help protect against many of health hazards. Knowledge of labour workers regarding personal protective equipment is one of the key factors to maintain the health and safety of workers. Aim of Study: The aim of study was to assess the knowledge of labour workers regarding personal protective equipments in Baru Sahib, Distt Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh. Material and Methods: Study was conducted in Baru Sahib, Distt Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh. Quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was used to assess the knowledge regarding personal protective equipments and purposive sampling technique was used to select 60 labour workers of Baru Sahib. Structured interview schedule was prepared to assess the knowledge regarding personal protective equipments. Results: The findings of study revealed that majority of labour workers 33(55%) had average knowledge, 20(33.33%) labour workers had good knowledge and below average knowledge was possessed by 7(11.67%) labour workers of Baru Sahib. In present study educational status, family per capita monthly income, type of work and nearby health facility had significant impact on knowledge of labour workers regarding personal protective equipments. Conclusion: It was concluded on the basis of the findings of study that labour worker has average knowledge regarding personal protective equipments.
