Effective and Efficient Smart Healthy Care System Aimd Covid-19 Pandemic

2020

Nigeria is repeatedly referred to as the Giant of Africa, due to its large population and economy, with approximately 182 million inhabitants, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Good health is one of the fundamental human rights everybody is entitled to and the onus of this rests on the healthcare sector to provide good health services through the three tiers of the government (federal, state and local government) to the citizens. However, healthcare delivery in Nigeria has experienced progressive deterioration due to weakened political will on the part of successive governments to effectively solve a number of problems that have accumulated in the sector over many years. This paper strategizes a robust plan to ensure the wellbeing of the citizens of Nigeria against COVID-19 and all other illnesses by proposing a framework that presents a three module mechanism for the development of an effective and efficient smart healthcare system amid COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in Nigeria. This study recommends that the Government (at all the three tiers) as well as private healthcare providers should look into this proposed framework with the platforms provided during the lockdown session

Automatic Health Machine for COVID-19 and Other Emergencies

2021 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS), 2021

The novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) is a pandemic of unimaginable proportion and magnitude that is posing a great challenge worldwide to the medical industry in the 21st century. It has completely changed the texture of life to a greater extent. The increasing number of victims succumbing to the disease has created an indelible fear in the minds of the people who are afraid to access even the basic healthcare facilities. This paper deals with the Automatic Health Machine (AHM) which uses IoT and Artificial Intelligence technologies to help users access medical facilities during a pandemic and medical emergency mostly in rural and urban areas. The AHM provides complete virtual health checkup, connects with the doctor or specialist online and books appointments for the swab test or ambulance in case of emergency based on the patient's condition, dispenses the swab test or emergency medicines and electronic prescription to patients for later reference. The services of the AHM are accessible to all individuals using "Smart Health Card". According to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-3) proposed by the United Nations, the AHM ensures the wellbeing of all ages in society and increases the survival rate during unprecedented times like a pandemic/epidemic. We collaborated with industries and hospitals to understand healthcare/patients' requirements considering pandemic and post-pandemic. We conducted virtual workshops with the COVID-recovered patients and frontline nurses and doctors. As an overall outcome, the healthcare professionals feel the system can be adopted in an area where medical facility is not available immediately. Thus, our work has led to a patent being published in India and USA.

A Novel Smart Hospital for Isolation of COVID-19 Patients

2021 12th International Conference on Computing Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT), 2021

In this paper we describe a smart and innovative system which provides prime contribution to our society in this pandemic situation. We propose a novel smart hospital with multi featured equipments along with fashionable isolation ward for COVID-19 patients. A website interface has been proposed under anyone can visit and after knowing the status of the beds either for the isolation or emergency ward they can easily book from remote location. A QR code with registration number will be provided to the users. These users may reach to the hospital and have to pass through the QR code scanner for verification and sanitization process. A preevaluation section has been defined where proper mask at face will be detected with thermal scanner facility. All the designed section is controlled and monitor by control unit through server. Well featured with multiple sensors a unique ward is designed where oxygen level sensor is used to sense the level of oxygen and if the level of oxygen of patient is less than defined value supply of oxygen will switch on the supply automatically. Doctor will monitor and take care of patients through CCTV and video conferencing. The entire sub design unit is controlled and monitored via hybrid network and IoT.

Applicability of Distributed IoT-powered Triage Units in the Management of Infectious Diseases in Developing Countries: The COVID-19 case

Proceedings of the 2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Cyberspace (Cyber Nigeria), 2020

Medical pandemics disrupt human activities and threaten the existence of man. Oftentimes, health care delivery services and personnel become overwhelmed by health interventions in the context of pandemics. Currently, the COVID-19 respiratory health pandemic has troubled the world economy. This paper presents the Phase One of a health care delivery architecture based on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The architecture proposed herein comprises of three layers: physical, communication and cloud. The architecture considered the peculiarity of developing countries like Nigeria, where there is inadequate electricity and limited communication bandwidth with poor Quality of Services (QoS) of the Internet. The IoT triage architectural model developed in this work aims to address priority on assignment of the limited health facilities such as bed spaces, ventilators, medical professionals, etc., based on comparative analytics on vital health signals updates from IoT devices of patients. In this work, much emphasis is placed on the physical layer of the architecture. By this, a use case diagram for the physical triage outfit is developed in addition to the architecture. It is expected that the proper implementation of this architecture in health care delivery services across the globe will go a long in managing and minimizing the effects of pandemics like the COVID-19.
