This can be comes up with poor infrastructure, lack of road protocols and almost nonexistence of measures to enforce laws of the road. On average, 1199 accidents take place every day in the country. The intelligent braking system plays the main role in reducing the number of accidents on roads and control the vehicle speed. This intelligent braking system has an ultrasonic sensor which detect the obstacles on road ,the reflected signal gets received by receiver which results in activation of braking circuit and brakes are applied.

It is reported that many different sensors and system from sonar to machine vision have been installed on ground vehicles and automobiles in experience have been conducted over 40 years a review of the promising of days sensors and related present devices. A brief summary is also provided of number of attains to develop autonomous vehicle i.e. vehicles that can navigate in traffic without intervention by drivers.

The technology of pneumatics has gained tremendous importance in the field of workplace rationalization and automation from old-fashioned timber works and coal mines to modern machine shops and space robots. It is therefore important that technicians and engineers should have a good knowledge of pneumatic system, air operated valves and accessories. The aim is to design and develop a control system based an intelligent electronically controlled automotive bumper activation system is called "AUTOMATIC PNEUMATIC BUMPER". This system is consists of IR transmitter and Receiver circuit, Control Unit, Pneumatic bumper system. The IR sensor is used to detect the obstacle. There is any obstacle closer to the vehicle (within 4 feet), the control signal is given to the bumper activation system. This bumper activation system is only activated the vehicle speed above 40-50 km per hour. This vehicle speed is sensed by the proximity sensor and this signal is given to the control unit and pneumatic bumper activation system.

Road accidents are the most unwanted thing that happens to its users. There has been a dramatic increase in road accidents across the globe. In India according to a report by NDTV 1214 road crashes occurs every day in India in which 377 people die every day in our country. In light of this critical situation Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has released a notification which makes Antilock Braking System (ABS) mandatory for all cars to be sold from April 2019. But still there is a need of a smart braking system which can anticipate collisions and able to avoid them by applying brakes automatically. The objective of this paper is to discuss & review the available sensor based braking systems in some luxurious and pricey vehicles.

The response time of drivers is different for everyone and varies person to person in such a panic situation and stopping distance varies some leads to accident and some prevailed the accident but of-course with serious damage. This project will help us to decrease response time by helping the driver while driving to stop in time or to minimize the stopping distance to prevent the collision. The distance between the vehicles or moving vehicle and the obstacle can be detected by using Ultrasonic sensors. We can also install a system that can communicate between vehicles to determine the gap between vehicles i.e., approaching vehicles either from front or back. Further commands can also added to help while driving. An Autonomous Braking system is an intelligent mechatronic system includes an Ultrasonic wave emitter provided on the front portion of a car producing and emitting Ultrasonic waves. An Ultrasonic receiver is also placed on the front portion of the car operatively receiving a reflective Ultrasonic wave signal. The reflected wave (detected pulse) gives the distance between the obstacle and the vehicle. Then a microcontroller is used to control the speed of the vehicle based on the detection pulse information to push the brake pedal and apply brake to the car stupendously for safety purpose. The use of computer or ECU (electronic control unit) is a major step towards improving the safety and performance of vehicles as well as driver safety. In this paper we have investigated one of the aspects of braking system. The design exercise is based on calculation. Fabrication of Auto-Braking System for Pre-Crash Safety Using Sensor

The auto-braking system was designed by VHDL and fabricated to keep a distance between two cars. It provides pre-crash safety system for intelligent car. This module can detect the distance between front vehicle and driver's vehicle to keep a constant distance using a sensor and operate the brake system forcibly if the driver does not decrease the speed of car. The system displays the distance between the two vehicles and the speed of your vehicle. The performance of the system was good.

Development of Automatic Hand Brake System

Hand brake is one of the most important component in vehicles. Conventional handbrake system works using a ratchet locking mechanism that will keep it engaged until a release button is pressed. Driver error can lead to accidents in which handbrake is not engaged. To overcome this, an Automatic Hand Brake engaging and disengaging system is proposed. The hand brake engagement and disengagement is done using a combination of rack & pinion arrangement and microcontroller. The microcontroller process signals from ignition switch which checks whether the ignition is ON or OFF, and in-turn checks the gear lever to see whether the gear is in neutral position and also checks the signal from proximity sensor to sense if the wheel is in motion. If all the conditions are satisfied, a signal is given to the motor. As the motor rotates the pinion, it causes the rack to move linearly causing the engagement of handbrake. On turning the ignition on and engaging the gear lever a spring attached to handbrake automatically disengages the handbrake.

IRJET- Seat Belt Assisted Automatic Hand Brake

Hand brake is the most significant safety features in an automobile vehicle. An individual vehicle having two brakes, one used to retard the speed of moving vehicle and other is to keep the vehicle motionless or parked on slant area. It is essential to engage and disengage the hand brake with the help of lever before starting the vehicle from rest position, but due to human error the brakes gets engaged which led to ineffective after certain period. To overcome this limitation as well as people's tendency to avoid usage of wearing seat belt, we proposed the new automatic handbrake system for safety of the vehicle and the human itself. This system uses Microcontroller, electric motor and four bar linkage mechanism for engaging and disengaging the hand brake. Engaging of hand brake takes place when ignition is off and the seat belt is removed, and disengaging of hand brake takes place when the ignition is ON and seat belt is fastened and also foot brake pedal is pressed.

The intelligent braking system is the next step to automation. Presently cars have the alarm system where when the car gets too close to an object an alarm is triggered which warns the driver about an object close by. But this feature has produced lot of problems and are prone to human error. We have enhanced the facility by using the same system but we have altered it so that the car brakes automatically when an obstacle is close by. The aim is to design and develop a control system based on intelligent electronically controlled automotive braking system is called “INTELLIGENT REVERSE BRAKING SYSTEM”.
