The subject of the report are phraseological units, proverbs and sayings used in conversation. They are related to the aesthetic subjective norm. A number of speech rules reveal the opposite. According to phraseology, Bulgarians feel dissatisfied with empty, needless, missing or insulting words. The reason is that 203 phraseological items have a negative connotation and rating. The aesthetic negative assessment can be measured with the help of two parameters-plus and minus on the assessment scale. Idioms almost always express additional emotions which, in phraseological terms, are accompanied by stylistic notes like dialectical, slang, or literary; disapprovingly, slightingly, ironically, roughly, vulgar and mockingly. This theme interweaves with current problems-how our mental pictures for good (my own) and for evil (stranger, outsider) are reflected in language and in speech. THE EXPRESSION OF GENERAL NEGATION IN BULGARIAN AND GERMAN THROUGH THE PERSVECTIVE OF CONTASTIVE ANALYSIS The object of analysis in the present study are some characteristic features of the linguistic means expressing negation (and in particular – general negation) in two unrelated languages – Bulgarian and German. The paper presents a brief outline of the basic concepts of negation as a linguistic phenomenon, and a contrastive study of the specific linguistic means of its verbalization in the two languages, focusing on the cases of interlingual asymmetry. The conclusions are drawn on the basis of rich taxonomic material, excerpted from literary texts translated from German into Bulgarian and from Bulgarian into German. A number of arguments are presented in support of the thesis that in contemporary Bulgarian language there is a process of grammaticalization of the verbal negation within an independent morphological verbal category, called existential status of the action (result of an action) or a state. In contrast, there is no single formal indicator of negation in German; there are no manifestations of synthetic forms, as for example – the Bulgarian auxiliary verbs няма and недей, and the degree of separability of the negative markers is high. In the final part of the study a conclusion is drawn that the linguistic concepts of general negation and status negation are not identical. The first one is semantic-syntactic and encompasses the cases in which the action of negation refers to the whole sentence. As for the status negation in the Bulgarian language, it means absence (negation) of an action (result of an action) or a state and is expressed morphologically – on the level of the verb word formation.

Исследовалось влияние эффекта просодической границы на параметры движений глаз при чтении именных групп в предложениях с синтаксической неоднозначностью на втором английском языке. Установлено, что общее время чтения потенциальных вершин придаточной клаузы значимо меньше при наличии такой границы. На ранних этапах анализа активируется первая именная группа, так как увеличивается время первого прохода. Это подтверждает приоритет раннего закрытия на ранних этапах анализа, однако на поздних этапах, при интерпретации предложений, испытуемые не продемонстрировали какого-либо предпочтения в присоединении придаточной клаузы. Ключевые слова: глобальная синтаксическая неоднозначность; определительное придаточное; просодическая граница; пунктуация; чтение; движения глаз; английский язык как второй.
The article is of a practical nature. It presents specific ideas for teaching verbal aspect to foreign students throughout their preparatory course in Bulgarian language. The accent is placed on the factors which would optimize the teaching process-a precise selection of the verbs that would illustrate the main opposition in the category (c o m p l e t e n e s s-i n c o m p l e t e n e s s), special emphasis on the derivative function of perfective prefixes, explicit differentiation between aspect, tense and lexical verbal meaning (way of action).

The objective of the article is to consider semantically and as word-formation the verbs, which are predominantly with forms for plural but in combination with collective nouns are also used in 3rd person singular. The reasons for the grammar defectiveness are sought and they are connected not solely with the semantics of the motivating word and of the word formation formant. The homonymic relationships, which these verbs enter into with verbs, not defective per category person or number, are indicated. The connection between the lexical meaning and the grammar meaning of the verbs under consideration is illustrated, frequently also stylistically determined.

The following paper focuses on the contribution of the Exarchic newspaper “Novini”/ “Vesti” (1890–1912) to the studies of Bulgarian dialects on the threshold of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a well-known fact that after the re-establishment of Bulgaria as a sovereign state (1878) the Bulgarian Exarchate became the spiritual institution to carry on the National revival language and educational policy. One of the major aims of the newspaper was to acquaint the Bulgarian public and academic community with the dialects from the remote Bulgarian areas still under the Ottoman rule and to prove their affiliation with the Bulgarian linguistic territory while outlining the linguistic and spiritual boundaries of the entire Bulgarian nation.

The following paper analyses the correlation between written Bulgarian language and Bulgarian dialects during the 2nd and 3rd decades of the 19th century. It studies the knowledge and personal observations of Bulgarian writers and journalists on the Bulgarian Dialect Division during the National Revival period and their first attempts to define the main bipartition and tripartition of the Bulgarian language teritory (into eastern and western dialects and into Moesian, Thracian and Macedonian dialects). Presented are linguistic ideas, concepts and efforts to codify a standard Bulgarian language on the basis of the 19th-century Bulgarian vernacular.
The need to practice the "narrative" skills is argued with the fact that several grammatical categories, at least part of which are atypical for most languages (e.g. aspect and evidentiality), are marked simultaneously in the Bulgarian language. The cycle of work on the narrative passes through stages that are determined by the basic narrative types that exist in the Bulgarian language and in relation to the specific grammatical category learned by the trainees, leading to the respective type of narrative. Initially, it begins by transforming a dialogue into a narrative or retelling an already existing narrative. Further, it goes on to free narration without any text support . The stages are as follows: I stage: Narrative construction. Nonpast: Narrative present; Gnomic present; Phase II: Past: Narrative past; Historical present; Presentation of time sequences in a narrative; Tense switch. Stage III: Narrative genres. Необходимостта да се упражнява умението "разказване" се аргументира с факта, че при разказа на български език се маркират едновременно няколко граматични категории, част от които са нетипични за повечето езици (напр. вид и евиденциалност). Цикълът на работа върху умението разказване преминава през етапи, които се определят от основните наративни типове, които съществуват в българския език. При това даден тип разказ се поднася във връзка с усвоена от обучаващите се граматична категория, водеща за съответния тип разказ. Първоначално се започва с трансформирането на диалог в разказ или преразказването на вече съществуващ разказ. По-нататък се преминава към свободно разказване, без опора в познат текст, задаващ съжета. Етапите са следните: I етап: Усвояване структурата на разказа. Разказ в Неминал план; II етап: Разказване на история в Минал план. Разказване на история, която се отнася за миналото в Неминал план; III етап: Разказни жанрове. Оценка на говорещия за достоверността на изказването.
