The paper deals with the results of research on the influence of material and operating parameters on the performance characteristics and efficiency of photovoltaic panels. The disadvantage of PV panels is that their performance depends on a number of factors such as the intensity of the sun's radiation, the outside air temperature, the surface temperature of the photovoltaic panel, its pollution, shielding, etc. In the paper is analyzed the model photovoltaic power plant, from which data were obtained during the monitored period and subsequently the progress of individually measured parameters was evaluated. 1 Description of the analyzed PV power station PVE is located on an area of 30,000 m2, 75% of which was used to install the facility. The construction of the PV power plant was carried out in 2010 from September to November, at the end of November of the same year it was put into the testing operation. In December it acquired a license from URSO and a license to join the di...

The aim of this study is to show the investigation effects of environmental and operating factors on photovoltaic (PV) panel efficiency using by multivariate linear regression. Also in this study, the relationship between PV panel efficiency and some environmental and operating factors (solar radiation, opencircuit voltage, short circuit current (I sc), power, fill factor, outside temperature, humidity, wind speed, and voltage) were investigated using multivariate linear regression. The effect of binary parameter interactions on panel performance was investigated using the backward elimination (or deletion) method. The data used in the analysis were obtained from monocrystal and polycrystal panels in December in the winter season. In all analyzes, the regression values are close to 1, which indicates that the compatibility between binary parameters and performance characteristics is perfect. In addition, the three most effective parameters on panel efficiency were found to be solar radiation, maximum power (P max), and I sc , respectively.

One of the biggest causes of worldwide environmental pollution is conventional fossil fuel-based electricity generation. The need for cleaner and more sustainable energy sources to produce power is growing as a result of the quick depletion of fossil fuel supplies and their negative effects on the environment. Solar PV cells employ solar energy, an endless and unrestricted renewable energy source, to generate electricity directly. The optimum output, energy conversion efficiency, productivity, and lifetime of the solar PV cell are all significantly impacted by environmental factors as well as cell operation and maintenance, which have an impact on the cost-effectiveness of power generation. This article presents an analysis of recent research on the impact of operational and environmental factors on the performance of solar PV cells. It has been discovered that temperature and humidity, combined with dust allocation and soiling effect, have a significant impact on the performance of...
Review on Life Cycle Assessment of Solar Photovoltaic Panels
Energies
The photovoltaic (PV) sector has undergone both major expansion and evolution over the last decades, and currently, the technologies already marketed or still in the laboratory/research phase are numerous and very different. Likewise, in order to assess the energy and environmental impacts of these devices, life cycle assessment (LCA) studies related to these systems are always increasing. The objective of this paper is to summarize and update the current literature of LCA applied to different types of grid-connected PV, as well as to critically analyze the results related to energy and environmental impacts generated during the life cycle of PV technologies, from 1st generation (traditional silicon based) up to the third generation (innovative non-silicon based). Most of the results regarded energy indices like energy payback time, cumulative energy demand, and primary energy demand, while environmental indices were variable based on different scopes and impact assessment methods. ...

In Indonesia, the solar photovoltaic (PV) market is rapidly growing. However, studies on the outdoor performance of PV systems in this tropical rainforest country is lacking. In this work, we compare the performance of PV systems in Indonesia with PV systems in Australia (arid, desert, hot) and Italy (temperate, dry summer, hot summer). Monitoring data from 2008 to 2019, ranging from two to nine years, from fifteen PV systems of six technologies were analyzed. The performance of the PV systems was presented using their performance ratio (PR) and performance loss rate (PLR). PR was calculated using IEC standard 61724, and PLR was calculated using seasonal and trend decomposition, applying locally weighted scatterplot smoothing (STL decomposition) and the year-on-year approach from NREL/RdTools. The results showed that the CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) system had the highest average PR value of 0.88 ± 0.04. The lowest average PR was found in the a-Si (amorphous silicon) PV sys...

Photovoltaic solar energy is the third most widely used renewable source worldwide, after hydroelectric and wind energy, and this energy source requires experimental and theoretical development in specific topics such as the effect of environmental conditions on energy performance. Thus, this study's main objective was to determine the influence that meteorological conditions have on the performance of solar photovoltaic systems, based on measurements from a measurement station installed in the city of Barranquilla-Colombia, to determine the factors that significantly affect the system's energy efficiency deviation. The experimental results show a dependence of the solar panel energy performance on some weather conditions, which is an uncontrolled phenomenon such as the ambient temperature and the atmosphere's humidity. Also, solar panel temperature and irradiance were the parameters with greater importance in the systems power generation. Also, the panel temperature must be controlled to obtain the desired response, because the panel temperature is inversely proportional to the voltage and directly proportional to the current. However, the negative effect of increased panel temperature in sunny climates is compensated by increased solar hours, so the summer system has less instantaneous efficiency, but it has higher solar output throughout the day. Therefore, solar energy production study should be related to total daily production.
The effect of environmental changes on the efficiency of the PV system
Indonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Advancements in the field of energy are among priorities of modern-day research. Most of the modern studies concern particularly on renewable energy resources especially that of Solar Energy to meet the energy demand of the future energy markets. Solar energy is one of the richest sources of nature, but involvement of environmental effects readily affects the overall performance of the Photovoltaic Panel. This paper highlights the importance of the solar energy, techniques and comparison of mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline and their particular energy profile. A Matlab/Simulink model is constructed to analyze the behavior of solar cell on effect of irradiance and temperature. Experimental results show the adverse effect of humidity, shading, direction and climate changes on the performance of the solar cell.
Comparative Analysis of PV System Performance in Different Environmental Conditions
2020
Apart from many other factors the overall performance of PV depends on temperature and solar irradiance because as the day progresses the energy received by PV panels from the sun changes and temperature also changes throughout the day. In this paper effects of temperature and solar irradiance variation were studied on a 240V PV panel's maximum power, efficiency, and fill factor. The model is designed in Simulink/Matlab software which has two variable inputs in the form solar irradiance and temperature and three output parameters i.e. efficiency, fill factor and maximum power. First the performance parameters are observed under STC conditions and then one of the input is changed from STC whereas the other one is kept constant. At the end the second input is varied whereas the first one is held at STC. Simulations were performed and results obtained in terms of maximum power, efficiency and fill factor shows percent variation from its reference value for every one degree centigra...
Comparative Study of Performance of Three Different Photovoltaic Technologies
2016
In this project, simulation approach is used for the comparative analysis of different photovoltaic (PV) technologies, namely; poly crystalline, mono crystalline and thin film PV. The PVsyst industrial PV system planning software solution was selected to model and simulate the entire PV system. The meteorological data used in the study are compiled from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) worldwide meteorological database. The meteorological data include 22-year monthly and annual averaged insolation incident on a horizontal surface (kwh/m2/day) and 22-year monthly averaged air temperature. A hypothetical electric load demand data is used for the simulation. According to the results, the thin film PV gave highest performance ratio (PR = 61.8%) and highest energy yield per year of 5516.8 kWh/year. However, in comparing PV generation technologies, conversion efficiency is the most important parameter to be determined. The results showed that the array efficiency of th...
