The Positive Impact of Using Podcasts in Education in El Baha University College of Science and Arts Elmikhwa Branch

The objective of this article is to present the positive impact of podcasts on education in general and to investigate the effect of the use of podcasts in teaching and learning or education. When performed properly podcasts can improve several aspects of education. First, podcasts can act as an innovative teaching resource for instructors to design new classroom activities. Second, it has learning benefits for students inside and outside the classroom which support the learning process. Lastly, podcasts can improve teacher preparation and planning of the lesson. The research used descriptive and analytical methods to show the effect of performing podcasts in the classroom and how it enhances the teaching and learning process. The study concluded the positive impact of using podcasts in education and being a digital teacher helps to enhance the teaching and learning process.

This research work addresses the educational potential of the podcast, an emerging digital communications medium. This audio format brings together producers and listeners (broadcasters and users) through very specific contents. In effect, it permits sharing and broadening knowledge of a subject, together with the construction of learning communities. Consequently, the research focus is based on educommunication, an interdisciplinary field combining communications and education. The main aim of the work is an in-depth study of the educational potential of podcasting. The hypothesis is that its educational nature is beneficial to everyone, schoolchildren and adults. The research is proposed from a qualitative perspective; it combines several different methods such as content analysis, interviews and case studies so as to obtain innovative results. It is hoped that this research will contribute knowledge in order to improve the educational potential of podcasting, a useful tool in the full development of people and communities.

The Use and Development of Podcasting as a Technological Tool in Secondary Education in Greece: A Case Study

The main objective of this study is to explore how podcasting can be implemented as a supportive technological tool in teaching English as a Second Language. To this aim, the field experiment research was conducted. The study was carried out in a total of 28 pupils of the first grade of high school at an educational institution on Rhodes, Greece in December 2017. The students were assigned into the experimental group (15 students) and the control group (13 students). A statistically significant difference has arisen regarding the contribution of podcasting to the motivation of the students of the two groups. The students of the experimental group believe that English is a very important school subject which can help them in other subjects. This study investigated lecturers' awareness, readiness and self-efficacy of using podcast for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions in Niger state, Nigeria. The research was a descriptive type using the survey method. The sample was drawn from three federal institutions and three state colleges of education in Minna Niger State. The sample consisted of four hundred and twenty (420) lecturers from the 6 (six) tertiary institutions. Three Objectives and 3 corresponding research questions were raised to guide the study. An instrument tagged 'Lecturer' Awareness, Readiness and Self-efficacy in Podcast (LARSPQ)' was developed by the researchers.

Podcasting: A Preliminary Classroom Study

/Resumen Podcasting is a term introduced through the use of Apple Computer, Inc.'s iPod, a term which denotes how a portable audio player can be used to download audio files, mostly MP3s, and be heard at the user's convenience. Initially such an operation was intended for entertainment; however, it has proven itself to be an important tool in the field of education as well. The research at hand constitutes a preliminary study for exploring the educational potential of podcasting and for presenting the basic technical and pedagogical skills needed for its implementation. This qualitative research uses as its instruments direct observation and informal interviews of students. The project was carried out with 25 students who were looking at a chemistry unit on aromatic compounds and it included the use of four podcasts. Even though the current study is taken from a science class, the applications of this technology can be useful in other subjects, particularly languages and social sciences. Podcasting, being a new form of audio distribution offering the possibility to be loaded on personal mobile devices from teachers', student', university's websites and blogs, is discussed as an activity with potential in learning and teaching. The existing and potential varieties of podcasts represent sources for learning, converging, socializing. In this paper, podcasting is supported as an innovative approach to stimulate university students' reflection, specifically on epistemic questions and concepts. Both theoretical and practical background information is provided to clarify the rationale of using this method in higher education.

Podcasting in the classroom: involving students in creating podcasted lessons

This paper describes an academic experience of podcasting, which involved a group of students of a course on multimedia communication and human-computer interaction both as users of the university’s podcasting service, and as creators of podcasted lessons. The evaluation of the effect on student performance and data from student satisfaction surveys provide encouraging results.
