Ever since it's being, it has always given something positive to the society. Tools and techniques of mass communication have evolved over the years and it's worthwhile to say that whatever form it acquired, it has disposed off its duties diligently. Radio being the first in the line of Broadcast medium has always been looked upon for information, entertainment etc and it in response has delivered what was expected of it. Radio evolved and took the shape of FM radio over a period of time and subsequently, FM radio tried to contribute to the society. FM radio has always been a hit among youngsters. In this paper factors behind its popularity will be studied and analyzed. We will also find out the areas where it can excel and extend its reach.

The commencement of the FM revolution in the country was something path breaking. Easy access to cheap radio receivers saw a resurgence of the radio in the public domain. Instead of being swept away by the cable revolution radio made its own rules and survived well despite many apprehensions from government quarters about its ability to sway people. From rickshaws to mobiles to cars hits the FM revolution changed the way the urban landscape redefined its media habits. FM was in the pockets of everybody. But in the mad rush of the city dwellers craze for FM there always existed the silent listeners in the blind spot. FM radio has gained popularity in India, especially with the entry of private players. Today FM radio market has emerged and has made enormous growth. The commercial aspect of radio is enormous as is the number of people it reaches to. Right from the roadside petty shop to corporate banker-all are hooked to the radio.
ROLE OF FM RADIOS IN NEWS AND INFORMATION: A STUDY OF FM RADIOS IN PESHAWAR, KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA

The study was conducted to examine the role of FM Radios in the dissemination of different type of news and information through various contents in their daily broadcasting. To achieve the objectives of the study, as quantitative methodology, the researchers used the survey technique for data collection. A questionnaire was distributed among 300 respondents in Peshawar city, while data was collected through the simple random sampling method. The findings of the study revealed that each of the eight FM Radio stations working in Peshawar, which cover most of KP, PATA, FR and FATA, have their own objectives of broadcasting, like education, information and entertainment. The study shows that the number of designed programs broadcasted for FM radio stations for news and information fulfil the needs of the audiences in Peshawar. This research has also shown the compatibility with the Uses and Gratification Theory.
Popular FM Radio station and listening habits in Greater Noida
This study is stipulated by rapid rise in the number of FM Radio Stations. The overall aim is to study the frequency of listening to radio among the selected audience as well as their preferred timings. It also finds which stations are popular among the audiences and the most popular category of program. Our focus is on the awareness and listening habits of people regarding FM Radio. In all, 100 students of Sharda University from 10 schools of various disciplines responded to the field work. 70 villagers residing in 7 villages and 30 urban dwellers residing in 3 sectors of Greater Noida participated in our survey. The respondents included not only residents of the villages but also five teachers from various schools.

Radio technology is now bounced back in to the market with new face and gotten into the various travelling and transportation vehicles in the world. India is not lag behind in utilization of FM radio stations with quantity of the area. Frequencies of this classification reached through covering maximum urban and suburban area in the Indian social equality. Till 2015 FM stations and Community radios have limitations in ‘reach’ some key cities and allied suburban area covered by these frequencies, Due to this limited devices, listeners are commuters of FM radio stations number of the programs designed for the listeners are limited. Limited publicity programs are designed for the active and passive listeners after new epoch commuter percentage increased lot of the mobile devices are in connection with same technology. Its significance value rises rapidly and number of enticers reached to high due to mobile devices. In previous phase lot of the FM station got permission to start transmission with new frequencies. This revision of study focuses on newly developed and launched FM broadcasting stations their encouragement to listeners with their programs. Maximum rural area is covered by the Amplitude Modulated and Short wave stations by AIR till previous 20-25 years due to this all publicizing authorities in control of Indian Government sector.

This research paper is an attempt to assess and evaluate the Social & Cultural impact of FM radio in Pakistan. At the time of independence, Radio Pakistan was the main & only electronic medium available in the country. Radio medium was and still is, exceptionally compelling, very effective communication mode in the country. Radio has been the most powerful and useful informative & educative tool for the reason that it has excellent outreach as compared to other electronic media but radio medium has been turning into a neglected medium in past due to the policy issues which has made radio medium for proliferation of particular agendas instead of disseminating education, highlighting different social & cultural issues and awareness campaigns for the masses. Undoubtedly, FM radios have played vital role to resuscitate radio broadcast in Pakistan. Currently, more than two hundred (200) FM radios (Commercial & Non-Commercial) are operational and airing educational, entertainment and informative programs for the listeners. Commercial & Non-Commercial radios are working successfully and contributing their role by spreading awareness, education and information to the masses especially for the youth.FM radios are influential upon the audience socially & culturally. Radio has the capacity to outreach in distant areas as well as radio can transmit message and voice without distinguishing its audience whether young or old , literate or ill-literate, men or women etc. Concrete and stunning efforts are still required to get maximize yield and benefit from the radio medium in Pakistan.
Role of FM Radio in Education (A Case Study of FM Radio in Peshawar)

The study was conducted to determine the role of FM radio in the provide education through different programs in their daily broadcasting. To achieve objectives of this study survey method has been used for data collection. A questionnaire was distributed among 300 respondents in Peshawar city. The findings of the study show that eight FM radio stations working in Peshawar, which cover most of KP and FATA, each of the FM radio stations have their own objective of broadcast, like education, information and entertainment. The study shows that number of designed programs broadcast for FM radio stations for the purposes of education which fulfil the needs of the audiences in Peshawar. This research study has also shown compatibility with the uses and gratification theory in the light of research findings. In the final analysis the community broadcasting, known as FM broadcasting due to the use of cheap and easily manageable technology, is already contributing to informal and formal education. It has a future potential to play a larger role in helping education and informed decision making process in the society.
FM RADIO AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN QUETTA CITY
FM Radio is a device that can influence to its listeners in worldwide areas. It has capacity to increase one's knowledge, ideas, and understanding on any issue while maintaining personal relationship with its transmission. It is a medium by which its listeners interact with their environmental subjects. It can also be noteworthy, such as bringing change into a person's attitudes, culture and can cause for social change. Social change is the process of fetching development in social structures that can make people learn the ways of living styles in a particular community circle related to cultures and traditions. This study would call attention to the role of FM Radio in causing development, change, and listeners' adjustment in the given social environment with special focus on informative programmes and effects on the local populace particularly in Quetta city which is distinguished by multi cultural and multi linguistic mass land.
From time to time, there are a lot of radio stations that emerge. But one thing these radio stations don't know is their audience. They don't know who listens to them and why the people listens to them. The purpose of this research study is to find out what functional approaches of broadcast media that the listeners use and what are their reasons for tuning in or listening to their preferred radio stations or programs. The researcher decided to purposely choose this topic in order to discover the reasons why radio audience patronizes such local FM radio/radio programs. Results revealed that radio listeners have a particular preference in terms of radio programs or stations based on the functional approaches of broadcast media.

This study attempts to find out if FM radio is still a popular medium in Mardan district in the present digital age. It is based on the Uses and Gratification Theory, which explains how audiences use a particular kind of media to gratify and satisfy their needs. Using a quantitative method, the researchers collected data from 100 people in Mardan city through a questionnaire. The study found out that FM radio is still relevant and popular in Mardan due to ease of its use being a portable device, low cost and a good source of localized information, education and entertainment. The study answered the question: Is radio still a popular medium in Mardan in the present-day era? The researchers found that 76% of the respondents in Mardan city believed that radio is still relevant in current digital age.
