The basic conceptual idea of logistics is the need to adapt the company to an ever-changing market situation, while spending a minimum of funds in these conditions. The concept of logistics is a system of views on the rationalization of economic activity by optimizing material flows. The paper investigates the change of the main indicators of the functioning of the supply chain, depending on the organization of distribution of the material flow. The supply systems of food products that form the consumer basket at the stage of distribution is considered. The conceptual schemes of freight flow distribution with and without distribution center is presented. The field research was conducted to determine and initial data were collected. The paper investigate the functioning of the supply chain in two cases: in a situation "proposed scenario" and in a situation "without a project". The situation "existing scenario" implies that no action to change the paramet...
Logistics and Supply Chains in Agriculture and Food
Pathways to Supply Chain Excellence, 2012
During the recent two decades, goods flow has been tremendously increased, even though the amount of goods remains at the steady state. Increased variety of goods, the just-in-time delivery system, low load rate, specialization and centralization of production systems, globalization of marketing and seasonal variations are among the main challenges of logistics system which may lead to the necessity of developing effective logistics in the sector. Effective logistics and technologies are a critical success factors for both manufacturers and retailers (Brimer, 1995; Tarantilis et al., 2004). Effective logistics requires delivering the right product, in the right quantity, in the right condition, to the right place, at the right time, for the right cost (Aghazadeh, 2004) and it has a positive impact on the success of the partners in the supply chain (Brimer, 1995).

Due to a growing interest in locally produced food (LPF), there is a tendency of promoting local food systems. The objective of this study was to investigate the existing flow of LPF from producers to consumers and develop a coordinated and efficient distribution system for producers in Halland region, Sweden. An integrated logistics network (ILN) embracing producers, retailers, a collection centre (CC) and a distribution centre (DC) was proposed. Data collection, location analysis and route optimization analysis were conducted. Geographic information system (GIS) and Route LogiX software were utilized for the analyses. Four scenarios of food distribution were identified and analyzed. When compared to the existing system, the best scenario improved transport distance, time and number of routes up to 93%, 92% and 87% respectively. The distribution of LPF was integrated into large scale food distribution channel (LSFDC) and this could increase the sustainability of local food system.

Purpose: Understanding how the structure affects logistical performance and food security is critical in the supply chains of perishable foods (PFSC). This research proposes a system dynamics model to analyze the effects of structures: lean, agile, flexible, responsive and resilient, in the overall performance and of each agent of the PFSC.Design/methodology/approach: Using a system dynamics model and design of experiments it is studied how the different structures and their combination, affect the behavior of inventory, transportation, responsiveness, efficiency, availability and quality-safety of the fresh fruits supply chain and each echelon.Findings: The studies of supply chains have been done for each structure in an independent way; investigations are scarce in supply chains of perishable foods. The structures modeled in this research do not show the better performance in all the metrics of the chain, neither in all agents for each structure. The above implies the presence of ...

The Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) with perishability is an active research topic. The Agri-fresh Food Supply Chain (AFSC) is a relevant topic to SCND and this study aims to model a new AFSC for a real-world case study. Regarding the traditional AFSC, the geographically dispersed small farmers transport their product individually to market for selling. This leads to a higher transportation cost, which is the major cause of farmers' low profitability. This paper formulates a traditional product movement model to represent the existing AFSC. The concept of sharing economic approach is employed by the aggregate and collaborative transportation of products to minimize transportation inefficiency. This paper proposes an aggregate product movement with the vehicle routing model to redesign an AFSC for a case study in Iran based on the data of ETKA Company-the largest domestic agri-fresh food supply chain. A four-echelon, multi-period, Mixed Integer Non-Linear Programming (MINLP) approach for the proposed location-inventory-routing model is formulated for perishable products via considering the clustering of farmers to minimize the total distribution cost. According to the comparison analysis, the location-inventoryrouting model is effective and leads to a reduction of 33% in total distribution cost compared to the present supply chain.
A Study of Eco-Performane of Logistics Services in Food Supply Chains
LISS 2012, 2012
Transportation is one of the main contributors of greenhouse gases which give direct negatives impact on environment. Management of logistics services plays an important role in maintaining business competitiveness as well as social responsibility. Optimising logistics service with integrated economic and ecological objectives can help to reduce negative impact on the environment by reducing the amount of carbon emissions and improving operations efficiency. This study focuses on multimodal transportation planning and optimal strategies with a UK food supply chain case under carbon emissions control. The research investigates and identifies impact of the policies on logistics performance.
The analysis of logistics at McDonald's Restaurant Denpasar Bali
Proceedings of the 15th International Symposium on Management (INSYMA 2018), 2018
In parallel with the rapid development of today's business industry and the increasing customer needs, all business wanting to succeed and survive in the midst of increasingly fierce market competition. All business attempts to survive and sustain as well as generate profits as much as possible. Market development that evolves from time to time, especially in this globalization era is now demanding a business to improve service in various fields. According to Jayaran & Tam (2010), logistics service quality is part of the marketing of products that the company offers to deliver the right amount of products, at the right place, the right time and at the right price with the right information. Development of national logistic system according to the Presidential Regulation no. 26, 2012, logistics is defined as part of the supply chain that handles the flow of goods, information and money through procurement, warehousing, transportation, distribution and delivery order services. Delivery of the product (delivery) is the core activity of logistics to move the goods or shipment from one point of origin to the destination point. In relation to e-commerce organizational transactions and physical distribution, it is essential to distinguish between customer-related activities such as order receipt, sales, marketing and the shipping processing of the ordered products (Mentzer, T.M & William, L.R 2001). One way for company to develop logistics service quality is by delivery order system. Delivery order service is one strategy that can be implemented to meet customer needs and increase sales turnover. It is quite effective to make the company closer to the customers and make it easier for customers to meet their needs, while, customer complaints can be overcome due to good relationship and mutual trust (Lovelock & Wirtz 2005). Changes in people's lifestyle resulted in the habit of society that prefers anything instant, one of them is by having delivery order in the purchase. Some countries studied the delivery logistics service quali

The main food problems in the context of realizing strong food security include increasingly scarce availability, increasingly difficult food affordability, both physically and economically. Food security are increasingly worrying because of the increasing number of problems related to food safety. From this problem, there is a tendency for the food situation, especially in international markets, which is increasingly unpredictable and increasingly unstable. For this reason, to achieve resilient and sustainable food security, government policies in the food and agriculture sector are more comprehensive, and are able to respond directly to challenges in the food sector. The policy must be able to adopt and encourage the effective and efficient use of food from all natural resources available in this country in an effective, efficient and sustainable manner. The research methodology used in this study is to use a qualitative descriptive approach at logistics bureau (Bulog) in strength...
