Student Perceptions of Online Learning During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Jurnal As-Salam
Online learning has been chosen to be applied in all tertiary institutions in Indonesia; this also applies to IAIN Takengon. Student perception is one of the determinants of the success of the learning that is carried out. The purpose of writing this article is to find out how students' perceptions of online learning have been implemented and the factors that influence these perceptions. The research method used is an online survey using google form. The results showed that students' perceptions of online learning were not very good; this was caused by several factors, such as poor internet access, burdensome internet quota, difficulty communicating with lecturers, so students were not ready to use applications when online learning was carried out. There needs to be much improvement in the online learning system implemented; this indicates that universities are not ready to carry out online lectures.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant shift towards online teaching-learning practices, disrupting traditional methods at the university level. This review analyzes 35 studies using content analysis to understand the perceptions of students and teachers towards online learning during this time. The findings indicate that the shift to online learning has created both challenges and opportunities for students and teachers. For students, challenges included technical issues, lack of social interaction, and reduced motivation, while opportunities included flexibility, self-paced learning, and increased access to resources. For teachers, challenges included adapting to online platforms, providing effective feedback, and maintaining student engagement, while opportunities included innovation, creativity, and improved teaching skills. Factors that influenced perceptions of online teaching-learning included technology infrastructure and accessibility, student and teacher demographics and background, institutional policies and support, and sociocultural and environmental factors. The review recommends improving the quality of online teaching-learning experiences by providing adequate technological support and training for both students and teachers, promoting interaction and engagement, and providing effective feedback. This study has significant implications for the field of education, emphasizing the need for continuous adaptation and improvement to ensure equitable access to education for all students. This review provides valuable insight into the perceptions of students and teachers towards online teaching-learning during COVID-19. However, limitations and challenges of the study include the limited number of studies analyzed and the heterogeneity of the findings. Future research should focus on the long-term impact of online teaching-learning on student and teacher performance, engagement, and satisfaction, as well as the implications for policy and practice. Overall, the review underscores the importance of considering the various factors that affect the perceptions of online teaching-learning and the need for continuous adaptation and improvement to ensure equitable access to education for all students.

"The Covid-19 outbreak forced educational institutions to shift from face-to-face to online teaching-learning in a very short time. The students and teachers had to learn by doing and to adapt quickly. Therefore, the focus of this study was to examine the main determinants of students’ perceived learning experience and satisfaction with the online classes. The data was gathered from bachelors’ students. The quantitative approach was implemented to analyse the subject. The findings show positive influence of faculty support, course design and students’ involvement on the students’ perceived learning experience through the e-learning platform and online classes. The student satisfaction with online teaching-learning is predicted by the perceived learning experience through the e-learning platform and online classes. The findings also emphasize the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs), as in the digital era the use of e-learning platforms is essential for the educational institutions. This study aims to develop instrument to facilitate undergraduates in online learning by investigating their perceptions towards the use of it. A quantitative approach has been undertaken which include review of past literature review and integration of models related to assess students' perception towards online learning during the pandemic. The students' perceptions are assessed based on readability and satisfaction in terms of motivation, technology access, opinion, self-directed learning and online teaching approach. The instrument was validated by two experts and their rating were calculated using Cohen Kappa value to examine the level of agreement. Cronbach Alpha reliability index was also computed to investigate the reliability level of the instrument. The finding shows that the instrument had substantial agreement among raters and strong internal consistency.

Deepublish Publisher, 2022
The objective of this research was to explore how students perceived various aspects of the teaching and learning process conducted virtually during this Covid-19 pandemic era. This topic of discussion was explored through several questions concerning the remote teaching and learning conducted by Artha Wacana Christian University in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. The research used a questionnaire distributed online for its data collection method, then analyzed the data using the descriptive qualitative approach. The primary data was gathered from 51 Biology Study Program students of 2018 and 2019 batches. The findings of this research showed that students considered that online teaching and learning were running well and effectively. 92% of respondents stated that the e-learning process via Google Classroom was mostly used by lecturers, in comparison to Zoom, Jitsi e-learning application provided by the campus’ IT unit, Google Duo, WhatsApp Group, or other online applications. In addition, students said that the teaching and learning process was carried out according to the preset schedules. Nonetheless, despite those positive remarks, during the process, students mentioned several problems, such as unreliable internet connection (64.7%), limited internet quota for online streaming, and also low ownership of supporting IT equipment such as a laptop. Corresponding to other aspects of online learning, 52.9% of respondents agreed that online learning helped their learning and this has been a reason for some of them to learn online, despite previously mentioned issues or problems they faced. On the question of the quality of teaching and materials used, 42% of students found it of good quality, but 37.3% of them thought it would rather moderate. When comes to the question of applied evaluation methods, more than half of the respondents found it appropriate to materials across various subjects they learned (56.9%).

Colombo Arts: Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, 2022
This paper focuses on students’ perception of the effectiveness of online vs onsite learning within two faculties (Arts and Science) of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the results of this study are compared to those of similar studies conducted in several other countries. The research problem addressed in this study is: What is the impact of ICT knowledge, digital infrastructure, classroom environment, and policy support on undergraduates’ perception of online teaching and learning? The primary data for the study was collected using a structured questionnaire. The objective of the questionnaire was to measure the impact of ICT knowledge, digital infrastructure, classroom environment, and policy support on undergraduates’ perception of online teaching and learning. A questionnaire was made available through an online platform to two hundred undergraduates of the two faculties, Arts and Science, of the University of Colombo, and the one hundred eighty (180) responses received were analysed using SPSS. The neutrality of the impact of ICT knowledge, digital infrastructure, classroom environment, and the policy framework on the participants’ perception of the online teaching/learning process can be interpreted as the non-existence of a significant difference between online and onsite classes. However, the additional comments provided by the same respondents at the end of the questionnaire indicate opinions contradictory to the above finding.

Online learning has become important to most students and lecturers in this academic era due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This study attempted to investigate issues pertaining to online learning among university students in Malaysia during this pandemic. The online interview technique used various online platforms involving 147 students from 16 universities in Malaysia. Data from the interview were analysed using ATLASti. Findings indicated that there are seven challenges that might limit the intention to use online learning among students. The challenges outlined are the administrator's assessment, communication issues that limit social interaction during online learning sessions, technical issues as well as an unstable Internet connection and insufficient data capacity. This study could contribute to the existing corpus of knowledge that could help universities to strategize the future implementation of online learning and minimize the challenges. This could improve the intention and preferences to use online learning for future implementation.
