In the backdrop of rise in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in developing countries, particularly after the global financial and economic crisis, Bangladesh is still ambivalent in setting its strategies regarding it. The present study tries to explore Bangladesh’s scope for taking market-specific initiatives including FTAs with a view to enhance export. A number of economic tools and techniques have been applied to examine possible scenarios regarding preferential market access for Bangladesh. Based on the analysis, the following conclusions have been drawn out: a) there are good reasons for Bangladesh to pursue negotiations for preferential market access including bilateral FTAs, though at a limited level, particularly with countries of Southern region; b) Given the limited level of export competitiveness, major focus should be put on signing Preferential Trade Agreements; and c) the government should put emphasis on strengthening its institutional capacity for effective negotiation wi...
Bargaining Power of Developing Countries in Trade Negotiations
The bargaining power of a country plays an influential and impactful role in trade negotiation. The final trade agreement is the result of the background negotiation among the contracting countries in a bilateral, regional or a multilateral arrangement. This paper has attempted to explore main strategies often exercised by the countries in trade negotiation and identifying factors that, in one way or the other, determine the bargaining power, particularly, of the developing countries. The data gathered from secondary sources are qualitatively analyzed. As strategies, the principle of reciprocity (negotiation based on a 'give and a take' policy) and prior preparation (conducting the negotiation process with full prior information, research finding and analysis), have been identified. Furthermore, the basic factors for building or relinquishing bargaining power particularly from the developing country's perspective have been discerned as market, commercial intelligence, capacity to control others and resource. As trade cooperation is becoming an unavoidable and inescapable phenomenon in the entire world, developing countries are advised to make themselves ready to play well the trade negotiation game by improving their bargaining power and byexploiting maximum possible out of that. There is no trade deal that is wholesale good or bad; it rather depends on how the country negotiates.

Exploring the Negotiation Strategy of Nepal at World Trade Organization
Prashasan: The Nepalese Journal of Public Administration
The Political Economy of neo-liberalization is supposed to benefit countries that adopted liberal trade policies. As the key driver, the World Trade Organization (WTO) establishes the minimum requirements for numerous agreements on goods, services, intellectual property, trade facilitation, and development elements of international trade. These agreements provide special and differential provisions for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and developing countries to be benefited from trade liberalization. This study analyzes the effectiveness of Nepal's economic diplomacy; particularly its negotiation strategy in various WTO agendas. This study finds that WTO agreements help emerging developing nations in improving their trade performance and attract foreign direct investment where Nepal and many other LDCs are performing weaker roles in trade negotiation resulting in a lower level of trade and investment. Therefore, this study offers some recommendations for fostering economic...

After some years it would become a great economic zone for others country. There are some problems Bangladesh foreign policy with India. They are geographical position, political problems, lacking of experts’ people who make policy, as a poor country Bangladesh affected various treaties. These problems cannot be removed in a day we can reduce these problems by standard of the diplomacy, national resources should be used properly, the trends of party system should be avoided, create a peaceful place & friendly place by foreign policy.
