Use of Cell Phone in Receiving Agricultural Information by the Farmers

Cell phone is an easy, fast and convenient device for communication. The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent of use of Cell Phone in receiving agricultural information and to explore the relationship between the selected characteristics of the farmers in using Cell Phone for receiving agricultural information. Data were obtained from 97 Cell Phone user farmers in selected village named Chorjamalpur of Boyra union under Singair upazila of Manikganj through face-to-face interview. Appropriate scales were developed in order to measure the concerned variables. Pearson Product Moment Correlation test was used to ascertain the relationship between each of the selected characteristics of the farmers with their use of Cell Phone for receiving agricultural information. Mobile phone usage in third world countries is playing a vital role for the enhancement of farmers business towards agriculture. Recently, communication through mobile phones is considered very important in enhancing farmers' access to better understand agricultural market situation. Farming communities appreciate mobile phone as easy, fast and convenient way to communicate and get prompt answers of respective problems. Nowadays, the mobile phone has generated an opportunity for the farmers especially to get the information about marketing and weather. Through this important technology, they directly keep in touch with market personals and offer their produce with reasonable prices. The use of mobile phone also keep them aware for weather forecast for agriculture input application like fertilizer and pesticides which might be affected by un fore seen disasters as communicated by metrological department. This device has given new direction and approach to farmers to communicate directly and share about recent advances with each other. The studies showed that mobile phones have saved energy and time of farmers and ultimately improved their income. Mobile phones have provided an opportunity to the farmers to communicate directly with market brokers and customers for sell their product in good price.

This study was conducted to discover the farmers’ behavioral intention to use mobile phones for agricultural in- formation and how mobile phones impact farmers’ abilities to obtain the latest weather and market information. Method: In this way, this study surveyed 1500 farmers in ten districts of Sindh, Pakistan, 150 from each district. The list was ob- tained from Sindh Government Agriculture Department and Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority (SIDA). Findings: The results mentioned that 97.3% respondents own their personal mobile phone and 64.5% of the respondents call to the market directly for seeking crop information. Moreover, in Sindh, Pakistan, farmers make use of mobile phones to keep current with the market; contact buyers and very limited 7.9% of the respondents get weather information. In some places information and communication technology disseminates information rapidly around the world to the benefit of many communities. Furthermore, the farmers were found unaware of the proper mobile phone usage. Improvements: Therefore, there is still a need to enhance farmers

Nowadays everyone is using mobile phone for connect with each other’s and get information about different issues and updates around the world. However, mobile phones have also played an important role in the development of agriculture and make it easy for farmers to communicate with buyers and sellers to sell their goods in reasonable price. Use and Role of Mobile Phone for Information Services in Agricultural Activities

The main purpose of this study was to determine the use and role of mobile phone for information services in agricultural activities as well as to explore the relationship between the socio-economic characteristics of women farmers and their use of mobile phone in agricultural activities. Data were collected using pre-tested interview schedule from a sample of 85 women farmers during the month of August 2018. Besides descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) was used to explore the significant influencing factors. Ten (10) different android mobile phone apps were identified which are most frequently used by the women farmers in the study area. Among the mobile apps, ‘vutta or maize app’ was found as the top used mobile app for information services in agricultural activities. In emerging nations, the use of information and communication technology has considerably benefitted the advancement of agriculture, health, rural development, and education. This technique has had a considerable impact on the way agriculture is developed in third-world countries. For information on the weather and prices, farmers now have direct access to the market, buyers, customers, and the metrological department. Information and communication technology has increased farmer incomes all over the world. It is now vital to provide access to facilities and introduce technology to rural areas where farmers lack knowledge, information, and skills regarding this technology. Several studies have also demonstrated that the adoption of information and communication technology tools in agricultural production has increased agricultural productivity. A few of the major problems and challenges that farmers encounter includes inadequate information transfer, poor agricultural practices, record reconciliation between farmers, the government, and traders, and a lack of understanding of the best farming techniques.

Study of the Mobile Phone Technology in Creating Awareness among Small Farmers of Sindh Province
Information and communication knowledge have played a positive role in different segments of the society such as in agriculture education and community development. Now a days most of the farmers are using these technologies especially mobile phones which have given a fruitful result to community. This study was conducted in Sindh Pakistan and survey was conducted in district Jamshoro Taulka Manjhand. Total two hundred respondents were randomly selected for data collection. The study indicated that 90% of the respondents possessed their personal mobile phones and 70% of the respondents utilized mobile for communication with their friends. While 75% of the were of the opinion asked that mobile phones have made their lives easy. However, the results showed that 72% did not contact with any agriculture officer and similarly not contacted with customers to sell their product. Furthermore, study revealed that 74.5% of the respondents replied that they utilize internet on mobile phones. Overall result indicated that farmers are not getting any benefit or increase their income, save time and energy by using the mobile phones in their places.
AGRICULTURE UPDATE
Now a days, one of the most important emerging tools of ICT is the mobile phones with a remarkable growth during last decade. Mobile phone technologies have provided a good platform for farmers to share their knowledge and information among each other in time such as weather information, crop and variety selection, fertilizer and irrigation management, disease and pest management market prices of the product and ongoing government programmes. Keeping this in view, a study was conducted assess the utilization pattern of mobile phones for sharing agricultral information among farmers in Merta block of Nagaur district of Rajasthan.A total of 110 respondents were selected for the study. This study has show that a majority (83.63%) of the farmer used call to retailorthan call to relative farmer (80%), internet user (29.09) and perceived as most information on weedicide, pesticide & disease control (89.9%) through mobile phones. The correlation studies indicate a significant association between educations, with extension agency contact and mass media of the farmer. The analysis the poor connectivity, economic problem, high cost internet services and lack of updated information were some of the problems reported by the respondents.
