The objectives of this research are to explain the effectiveness of using pictures in teaching writing at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bima and to find out whether there is Is there a significant difference in the writing ability between the second grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bima who are taught by using pictures and those who are not taught by using pictures. This research is an experimental research study that was held in SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bima. The research subject was the second grade students. Population of students was 213. The experimental research involved one experimental group compared with the control group. USING PICTURES AS TEACHING MEDIA IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT (A Pre-Experimental Study at one of Junior High School in Garut, West Java, Indonesia)

This research investigated “Using Picture as Teaching Media in Writing Descriptive Text”. It enhanced the ability to write descriptive in one of junior high school in Garut. The purpose of the research was to know the effect of using pictures on students’ writing ability in descriptive text. The research population was the eighth grade students. The researcher used a written test to collect data. The research design was quantitative experimental. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test. The technique used in analyzing the data was t-test formula. It was used to determine whether there was a significance difference between the pre-test and post-test. The result of the test between pre-test and post-test, the mean of pre-test was 59.63 and the mean of post-test was 75.17 The obtained ttest was tobserved = 12.51 and tcritical = 2.0452. Improving The Students’ Writing Skill by Using Picture

The objectives of this thesis are to describe whether picture improves students’ writing skill and to describe the classroom situation when picture is used in writing class. The method of the research was classroom action research. The action research was conducted from January to April 2013 and was carried out in two cycles in 32 students of VIII A in SMPN 1 Jaten. The researcher collected the data using observation and questionnaire. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data using qualitative and quantitative technique. The research findings show that the using of picture could improve the students’ writing. It can be seen from the mean scores improvement of pre test, post test cycle 1 ,and post test cycle 2, were 51.62 for the pre-test, 68.00 for the post-test in cycle 1 and 78.31 for the post-test in cycle 2. The using of picture in teaching writing also could improve classroom situation in writing class.

Teaching Writing Through Picture for Junior High School Students

This research was conducted with the aim of finding the usefulness and benefits of picture as a teaching strategy or media of teaching to teach writing skill to the students. The method in this research was classroom action research method, which was carried out in two cycles. Subjects or participants in this study were the students at SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar, precisely the IX-4 students. The researchers collected data from the test results of students on the implementation of picture in writing a text. In addition, the data were also obtained through observation results carried out in the learning process. Based on the results of research that the researchers obtained, it was proven that the use of picture had effects on student learning abilities. Their writing abilities increased after using pictures as medium in writing a text.

Some people may find difficulties in writing something or express their ideas. They have a lot of ideas in their mind, but they cannot decide what they want to write. When the first problem solved, other problem appear that they do not know how to write correctly. Those difficulties faced by students, too and make them frustated and not confident in writing. The teacher has a job to give some stimulus and let the students' imagination free by not forcing the students directly to write and not giving them the same boring strategy all the time. The teacher can use Picture Series. The use of picture series can help the students to be more interested in the material and it is makes students easier to write down their own concept. The research is an experimental research and the objective of this study To find out whether there is significant effect between the students who have been taught writing using picture series and students who have not. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri Bandarkedungmulyo Jombang which consisted of 2 classes, X IPS 1 (28 students) and X IPS 2 (30 students). The research instrument, the researcher uses test as the research instrument. The researcher find that picture series was easy to use so they could write with picture series easily. Writing procedure through picture series brought the students to new kind of situation. It would help both the teacher and students to revise the students' writing and made writing more fun than the way it used to be.

The Use of Picture and Picture Technique in Improving Student Writing Skill

This study is aimed to know whether picture and picture technique can improve students’ writing skill. The method used was quantitative research with one group pre-test and post-test research design. The population was the 11th grade students at SMK Tunas Bangsa. The sample was one class of mechanical engineering major and consisted of 35 students.The result showed that null hypothesis of this study was rejected. It is proved by the data from T-test that shows the Sig. 2 tailed is 0.000. This value is less than 0.05. Null hypothesis, therefore, was rejected. The Effect of Picture Series Towards Students’ Writing Skill In Recount Text at The Eighth Grade Students’ of SMPN 6 Malingping Lebak-Banten

This research paper aim to investigate the effect of picture series towards students' writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade students' of SMPN 6 Malingping Lebak Banten in academic year 2021/2022. The method used in this research was quantitative method. The design of this research was quasi-experimental design and cluster random sampling: the researcher used VIII A (20 students) as class experimental and VIII B (20 students) as class control. In the collecting data technique, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. The analysis data used to test research hypotheses using SPSS 25.0 is test of paired samples test. The results of the research concluded that there are a significant effect of picture series towards students' writing skill in recount text with a significant value (p-value) = 0.000. They are < α = 0.05. The results of the research indicate that the hypotheses is accepted. According to the criteria of the test, it could be concluded that there was was progress in the effect of picture series towards students' writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade students' SMPN 6 Malingping Lebak Banten was effective.

This research investigated of using pictures series in increasing student’s writing skill to the eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. The objective of this study was to identify whether or not by using pictures series can increase the students ‘ writing skill. This study was conducted in experimental research to 165 students from the eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang of the academic years of 2016-2017. This study could be concluded that pictures series strategy gave a significant increase for the students’ writing skill than the students’ writing skill by using conventional strategy to the eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. The Effect of Using Still Pictures on Students Achievement in Writing Procedure Text

This study aims to find out whether students’ achievement through using still Pictures is higher than the students’ achievement through motion pictures in writing procedure text. The research of the study was conducted by experimental research. The subject of this study w as the students of SMA Swasta Abdi Negara Binjai class X 2 and X 3 consisted of 30 students for each class. The research was conducted in two groups. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan menulis siswa melalui gambar berseri. Penelitian ini didesain sebagai penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di MTs Alkhairaat Mamboro. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 20 siswa kelas Delapan, terdiri dari 11 siswa dan 9 siswi. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus melalui langkah-langkah perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Setiap siklus terdiri dari dua pertemuan. Peneliti dan kolaboratornya mengumpulkan data melalui lembar observasi, catatan lapangan, dan butir soal menulis. Data dianalisa secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif.
