Nurses play a role in providing nursing care which include spiritual care. Spiritual care can provide inner peace and bring new hope for patients who need it. Nursing students are the initiators who will later become nurses. This study aimed to identify the correlation between spirituality and implementation of spiritual care among nursing students in program profession.This study used a cross sectional design with a purposive sampling technique. The increasing evidence that spirituality is a critical component for promoting health and well-being has made spirituality more significant to nursing practice. However, although nurses' perceptions of spirituality have been studied in western countries, there has been little research on this topic in Southeast Asian countries where religions other than Christianity predominate. This study explores Malaysian nurses' perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care and examines associations between socio-demographics and their perceptions. Evaluation of Nurses’ Spirituality and Perceptions of Spiritual Care

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the nurses' opinions about spirituality and spiritual care. The study was conducted with 250 nurses, midwives and health officers working in Muðla Sitki Koçman University Education and Research Hospital. The data of the study was collected using a "Personal Information Form" and "Spirituality and Spiritual Care Scaling Questionnaire (SSCQ)" by means of a questionnaire method. The collected data was evaluated using One-way ANOVA, Independent Samples t-Test and Kruskal-Wallis analyses. The findings of the study show that 63.6 percent of the participants have heard of the topic of spiritual care, twentyfour percent of them have had no information about spiritual life and 53.22 percent of them are providing spiritual care. It can be argued that spiritual care is a basic component of integrated nursing care and yet, the concepts of spirituality and spiritual care are new concepts in the field of nursing.

Nurse's Competence in Supporting the Spiritual- Religious Needs of Patients in Indonesia
The fulfilment of religious ritual needs is a form of spiritual nursing intervention. The main Islamic ritual is the fardhu prayer, which should not be abandoned despite illness and hospitalisation. The purpose of this study was to find out the nurse's constraints relating to help to meet the need of conducting fardhu prayers for hospitalised patients from their experience of providing nursing care to patients.
Spiritual care rendered by registered nurses at a state hospital in Windhoek Namibia

The aim of this study was to determine the spiritual care rendered by nurses to hospitalized patients and its effectiveness at a state hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. The objectives of this study were to assess the understanding of registered nurses on spiritual care, describe spiritual care given to patients by registered nurses and to determine the effectiveness of spiritual care given to patients by registered nurses. A quantitative descriptive research design was used for this study to survey the registered nurses. Data were collected using the closed ended questions questionnaires. The target population was 40 registered nurses on duty. 40 questionnaires were distributed to participants and 32 (80%) questionnaires were returned and analyzed. Data are presented in tables and figures. The findings of this study show that registered nurses do understand the importance of spiritual care to patient's wellbeing. Nurses understand that the spiritual care is part of holistic care. They understand that it is their role to render spiritual care as part of holistic care. However, the findings of this study shows that nurses rarely render spiritual care to patients.
Turkish nurses' perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care

Aim. To explore Turkish nurses' perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care and to investigate the relationship between their perceptions and their demographic/independent variables. Background. Nurses' perception of spirituality can directly affect how they behave, deal with their patients and communicate with them in regard to the provision of spiritual care. Design. Survey. Methods. This study employed a convenience sample of 348 staff nurses from the public hospitals in the west of Turkey. The data were collected with two tools; a 'sociodemographic data form' and the 'Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale' (SSCRS). The response rate was 92% (n = 319). Results. The mean age of the nurses was 31AE70 (SD 6AE34) years and 22AE9% of them had a Bachelor's degree. Among the nurses, 54AE98% had ‡ 11 years of clinical experience. The mean score for the SSCRS was 3AE21 (SD 0AE63) which indicated that nurses' perceptions concerning spirituality and spiritual care were 'uncertain' or 'less clearly' defined. Significant differences were found between nurses' perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care and their ages (p < 0AE05), marital status (p < 0AE05) and education levels (p < 0AE01). Conclusion. The research findings suggest that Turkish nurses' perceptions were indecisive and inconclusive. Nurses' educational level, belief in the evil eye and department of employment appeared to have a positive impact on their perception of spirituality and spiritual care. Relevance to clinical practice. These findings will enable nurses to consider the importance of spirituality and spiritual care. Grasping these concepts will enable nurses to become more sensitive in their daily practices of spiritual care.

Spiritual care is very important particularly for patients who are experiencing critical conditions. Although the priority of critical care is to maintain the function of the organ systems and to improve the patient's health condition, the patient's spiritual care should not be ignored. This study aimed to identify spiritual care practice among ICU Nurses at public hospitals in rural areas. This survey study used the NSCTS (Nursing Spiritual Therapeutics Scale) questionnaires to identify spiritual care in the ICU wards. This study involved 39 ICU nurses who work in the three public hospitals of Pekalongan Regency, Central Java Indonesia (Kajen Hospital, Kraton Hospital, and Bendan Hospital). Nurses’ Attitudes Towards Spiritual Care and Spiritual Care Practices

Background: Spirituality is an important dimension of human existence with a crucial role in health promotion. This study aimed to investigate nurses' attitudes towards spiritual care and its practice. Methods: It was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The relevant data were collected by Nursing Spiritual Care Perspective Scale (NSCPS). In this study, 166 nurses working in hospitals affiliated to Iran University of Medical Sciences were selected by proportional stratified randomized sampling method. The obtained data were analysed by descriptive statistics, including frequency, mean, and standard deviation, using SPSS V. 16. Results: The Mean±SD score of nurses' attitudes towards spiritual practice was 3.67±0.51. The mean score of responses to 9 out of 11 items was above 3 indicating high range of attitude toward providing spiritual care. The Mean±SD score of nurses' spiritual practice was 1.93±0.48. The mean score of the responses to 3 out of 12 items was above 2 indicating the nurses' weak ability to provide spiritual care. Conclusion: Despite nurses' positive attitudes towards providing spiritual care, they have provided insufficient spiritual care interventions. Thus, appropriate approach for teaching spiritual merits and increasing nurses' abilities for providing spiritual care seems necessary.
