Policy on Child Protection During the Covid-19 Pandemic

The increase in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia was followed by a large-scale social restriction policy that aims to break the chain of distribution. On the other hand, this policy causes violence to vulnerable groups, especially children. Based on data from the Complaints Service section of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, there has been a monthly increase in cases of violence handled since March of 2020. Writing this paper is important because this phenomenon illustrates the efforts of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia to protect children. This paper aims to find out what factors cause violence against children during the Covid-19 pandemic and how the government atempts to protect children from violence during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted using an empirical juridical method. Based on the results of rapid research, it can be concluded that the main causes of the increase in violence against children during the Covid-19 Pandemic are psychological and economic factors. Meanwhile, the efforts made by the government, in this case, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, are by optimizing community-based integrated child protection.

Behind the Pandemic: Analysis of the Role of Child Protection Institutions

The story of the outbreak is so gripping that the whole world's population wades through a pandemic storm in uncertainty. Nevertheless, the "behind the scenes" story of the pandemic is no less heartbreaking. The government's policy to break the chain of viruses with large-scale social restrictions is, in fact, a new disaster for vulnerable groups, namely children. Various kinds of literature examine the "behind the scenes" of the pandemic that since March 2020, where the outbreak has been declared a national pandemic and continued with large-scale social restrictions, recorded cases of violence in vulnerable groups are reported. Based on data from the Complaint Service section of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, cases of violence, especially those that afflict children, the number continues to creep up. Therefore, the study of increasing acts of violence against vulnerable people, especially children, is necessary. This research is designed in the form of library research using various sources of literature as a source of research and reference data because cases of increased violence against children also occur in some countries. Some research on this subject will be reviewed in the literature review section of this study.

The role of Women and Children Protection Technical Implementation Units in alleviating child abuses during the Covid-19 pandemic

Child protection is the most important part of protecting the nation’s generation from the dangers of crime in society. It is happened due to the fact that childhood is vulnerable to violence and abuse. Children’s behavior and life have changed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The current study aims to analyze the scope of duties and functions of UPT PPA (the Women and Children Protection Technical Implementation Units) in alleviating the child abuse cases in Yogyakarta, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Violence against children is included in the highest cases of human rights violations during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will affect and has affected the lives of children throughout the world, especially in Indonesia. Children are a vulnerable group who need special protection during this pandemic because, during the pandemic, cases of violence against children are now shifting from the home. Children Violence Phenomenon in Pandemic Period and it's Legal Protection

Violence against children is often termed child abuse. Violent treatment of children can have an impact on children's behavior and result in mental disorders in children. Good children's experiences as well as bad experiences will be recorded in the child's subconscious and will be carried over to adulthood and even throughout his life. If this happens, it will become a chain and culture of violence. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of cases of violence against children in Indonesia has increased. Learning from home and working from home make the intensity of the interaction between children and their families tighter. Life pressures, dullness, and boredom experienced by both children and parents are vulnerable to creating conflicts that lead to violence. In the end, the child as the weaker person is in the position of being victimized. By using a descriptive-analytic method, this research presents data and explanations by the reality of existing phenomena. Data collection was carried out by reviewing the literature and reviewing literature data related to legal protection for children. The findings show that the government guarantees and provides protection to child victims of violence.

Selama masa pandemi COVID-19, diketahui bahwa angka kekerasan terhadap anak di Indonesia semakin meningkat. Studi ini adalah kajian pustaka dengan tujuan untuk mempelajari alasan terjadinya kekerasan terhadap anak selama pandemi COVID-19 dan upaya pencegahannya. Faktor penyebab umum kekerasan pada anak di masa pandemi COVID-19 merupakan masalah ekonomi akibat pembatasan aktivitas selama pandemi, hubungan anak dengan orang tua yang tidak seimbang, dan rendahnya pengetahuan orang tua terkait pola asuh. Dampak jangka pendek dari kekerasan yang dirasakan anak adalah berdampak pada fisik anak, sedangkan dampak jangka panjangnya berkaitan dengan jiwa anak. Dalam mengatasi masalah kekerasan terhadap anak di masa pandemi COVID-19 harus dilakukan di lingkungan sosial dengan berbagai upaya pencegahan. Pada penelitian ini penulis menyarankan perlu adanya kesadaran, bahwa tindak kekerasan terhadap anak merupakan kejahatan luar biasa yang dapat mengganggu tumbuh kembang anak.
