Journal of Biology Education An Analysis of Grade XI Students' Critical Thinking Skills on Animal Tissue Topic in SMA Negeri 1 Kota Mungkid

Journal of Biology Education, 2020

These days, critical thinking skills is one of competency that should be developed in students. Critical thinking skills is the ability of a person spotting condition or phenomenon and able to provide judgment according to their prior knowledge. School as an educational organizer has an important role in nurturing and evaluating students critical thinking skills through teaching-learning activity. In 2013 Curriculum, we can find that this aspect is emphasized in every learning process but in fact there are schools do not apply teaching-learning activity that can develop critical thinking skills. This study capturing how the critical thinking skills of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Mungkid 11th grade students in animal tissue topic. This study is a qualitative study with analysis method. Data of this study was taken using observation, interview, test, and questionnaire. The result shows that 53,62% of students belong to low critical thinking skills category due to lacking of variety learning method in the teaching-learning activity (using conventional method instead of variety of models). Also, the questions given to the students didn't support critical thinking skills approach. Because of the Final Exam for this semester so the research's time is quite short.

The Influence of Inquiry Learning Model in Improving Students' Critical Thinking Skills in View of Learning Styles in Science Learning in Elementary Schools

EduBasic Journal: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar

One of the skills that students need to possess in the 21st century is the ability to think critically. Students' critical thinking skills can be developed in natural science learning. Nonetheless, not all learning models can help students improve their critical thinking skills. Undoubtedly, a suitable learning model must be chosen; the most crucial step is understanding the student's preferred learning method. This study, therefore, aims to determine the influence of the inquiry learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills in terms of various student learning styles. This study used a quantitative research approach. The method used was an experimental research method with a 2x2 factorial ANOVA experimental research type. This research was conducted in class V at eight elementary schools in Majalengka Regency, with a total sample of 262 students. The data collection instrument employed was an essay test. The Influence of Problem Based Instruction Model in Natural Science Learning on the Improvement of Critical Thinking Skills of Learners

2018

This study was an experimental research conducted on one experimental group and one control group (conventional), which aimed to improve students' critical thinking skills of class IX at SMP Negeri 8 Makassar. The study was conducted in two stages. The first stage was the preparatory phase of the research. It is to develop the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) model, by making the lesson plans, student books, and test of critical thinking learning. The second stage is research implementation. It determines the sample of the research, performs the initial test, implements the learning process with PBI model, and performs the final test. The subjects of the study are the students of SMP Negeri 8 Makassar taken by using random sampling techniques. The research design is Quasi-Experimental Design, designed as Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The results showed that in the descriptive analysis, the general test of critical thinking skills of learners in the experimental class is in...

Application of the problem based learning model to improve critical thinking ability and students science learning outcomes (Fourth Class SDN Inpres 6/84 Welehunian Sagerat)

International journal of applied research, 2021

The learning process does not only emphasize aspects of remembering knowledge and understanding, but also aspects of application, analysis, evaluation and creativity. This is important because students can train thinking and problem solving as well as the application of concepts in everyday life. Therefore, a model is needed in learning, but in reality teachers are lacking in developing learning models that improve critical thinking and problem solving skills so that learning tends to focus on teacher. This has an impact on the achievement of student learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the number of 33 students only 9 students who succeeded and 24 students have not reached the minimum standard of learning criteria. It is necessary to apply learning that is able to create an active learning atmosphere for students, foster collaboration between students, and train thinking skills so that they can solve problems. The research objectives are to improve critical thinking skills through the use of Problem Based Learning Models, and to improve science learning outcomes for fourth grade students of SDN Inpres Walehunian Sagerat. The method used in this study is a classroom action research method and is designed in two cycles. The results of the study found that (1) through the application of a problem based learning model in science learning the material properties of light can improve critical thinking skills; (2) through the application of the problem based learning model, it can improve the science learning outcomes of students in the SD Inpres Sagerat class. Suggestions for fourth grade teachers can use problem based learning models in science learning, so that learning becomes more fun and meaningful and students are expected to always be active, creative, think critically, work together in groups and respect each other.

Differences of Analytical Thinking Skills on Biodiversity Material in Guided Inquiry Model with Conventional Class

Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan IPA

This study aims to compare whether there are differences in analytical thinking skills between classes that use guided inquiry models and conventional classes that use discussion methods and to find out whether guided inquiry models can improve analytical thinking skills in class X SMA. This type of the research is a quasi experimental research that uses a pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Kalasan and class X SMA Negeri 1 Prambanan. The sample in this research were 4 classes with a total of 104 students. Sampling in this research was conducted by cluster random sampling. The results of the t test obtained the value of sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, the probability value is less than 0.05, which means that there are differences in analytical thinking skills in the guided inquiry class and the conventional class. The gain score test results obtained a value of 0.71 with a high category, meaning that the use of the g...

The research sample consisted of 107 students of grade X from a population of 107 students consisting of 3 classes in SMA Negeri 2 Kotapinang. Research instruments were in the form of tests of critical thinking skills and scientific literacy and non-test questionnaires on students' scientific attitudes. The results showed the level of students' critical thinking skills; (1) SMA Negeri 2 Kotapinang was classified as low (27.07); (2) the level of scientific literacy skills of grade X students at SMA Negeri 2 Kotapinang was quite good (50.76); (3) the scientific literacy of class X students at SMA Negeri 2 Kotapinang was quite good (73.63); (4) the level of critical thinking skills of male students was obtained by (25.31) and female students was obtained by (27.97) which were both classified as low; (5) the level of scientific literacy skills of male students was obtained (47.78) and female students was obtained (52.27) which was both quite good; (6) and the scientific attitude of male students was (70,62) and female students was (75,15).The results of this study indicated the low ability of students' critical thinking in the classroom so that the understanding of the material that has been explained by teachers has not been able to be mastered by students, besides, there were mistakes students in answering the instruments of critical thinking skills that have been done. It was seen that students did not fill in the reasons for the answers correctly, so there were still many students who find it difficult to understand Ecosystem material.

The Effectiveness Of Guided Inquiry-Based Learning To Train Critical Thinking Skills In The High School Level

Proceedings of the 2nd Social Sciences, Humanities and Education Conference: Establishing Identities through Language, Culture, and Education (SOSHEC 2018)
