Critical Thinking Skills and Student Self Concept on Student Learning Outcomes by Applying the Inquiry Model

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of critical thinking skills and students self concept on student learning outcomes by applying the inquiry model to class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Bakauheni, South Lampung. This research method is a quantitative research with the type of survey research. The population in this study amounted to 93 students. The sample used in this study amounted to 90 students. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. This study uses data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, documentation, literature study. The Effectiveness of Critical Thinking Ability on Learning Outcomes at SMP Katolik Stella Maris Biudukfoho, Indonesia

This study aimed to test the influence of critical thinking ability towards the learning outcomes of the students at SMPK Stella Maris Biudukfoho. The process of collecting the sample of the experimental classroom I and the experimental classroom II was byusing the cluster random sampling technique. The subject of this study numbered 60 students of Class VIII Year 2018/2019. The used instrument was the test instrument to measure the critical thinking ability and the learning outcomes of the knowledge aspect, the non-test instrument in the form of questionnaire that was used to measure attitude, while the observation sheet was used to measure the students’ skills. DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS' CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AT PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS, DINALUPIHAN DISTRICT: AN ASSESSMENT

The study aimed to assess the development of students' critical thinking skills by Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies) teachers at public secondary schools of Dinalupihan District, Division of Bataan during the School Year 2015-2016. Included in the study are the profiles of the respondents in terms of age, sex, highest educational attainment, length of service, and relevant seminars and trainings attended; the methods utilized in developing critical thinking skills such as asking questions, analyzing situations, interpretation of data, and panel discussion; the difficulties encountered in developing the critical thinking skills of the students; and the measures to develop the students' critical thinking skills. The study used the descriptive method of research with the utilization of survey questionnaire and unstructured interview as the main data gathering instruments. The data gathered were organized, tallied, tabulated and subjected to statistical tools such as frequency counts, percentage, ranking, and mean. From the gathered data, the following conclusions were withdrawn: majority of teacher-respondents were within the 45 to 47 years age bracket and with a mean age of 37.25 years old, females, graduates of Baccalaureate Degree with Master's Degree units, have rendered service from 1 to 9 years, and have attended 1-3 seminars and training relative to critical thinking; teachers always developed the critical thinking skills of the students in terms of asking questions, analyzing situations, interpretation of data, and panel discussion, especially the analysis of data; sometimes encountered difficulties in developing students' critical thinking skills; and always chose their best options and took necessary measures in developing students' critical thinking skills.

Scientific Approach to Improve the Critical Thinking Skills

The purpose of this research is to improve critical thinking skills on fourth grade elementary school students on thematic integrated through scientific approach. The implementation of this research conducted by class action research method which has three cycles. The subject of this research is the students of IV-A class in Laboratorium elementary school UPI Cibiru which has 22 students in class (10 girls and 12 boys). Data collection technique through an interview, observation, field report and documentation. Data analyzing is use interactive analysis. The procedure was colaborative classroom-based research. The result of research is shows critical thinking students on the first cycle 43,6% with the average score 39,24. Second cycle shows at least 60,97% with average score 54,88. And the third cycle achieve 81,48% with average score at 73,33. The conclusion is, critical thinking skills students had increased after carried out class action research.

The Analyzing of Critical Thinking Skills on Students of High Shools Grade X in Plaju and Seberang Ulu II District

Based on the teacher questionnaire statement in Plaju and Seberang Ulu II District , the teacher has measured critical thinking skills. The teacher interview results stated that students still did not master the critical thinking skills of Biology High School. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage level of mastery of critical thinking skills of class X high school students in Plaju and Seberang Ulu II District. This research is a quantitative descriptive research; the sample used is a public high school representing the District of Plaju and Seberang Ulu II District. The results of this study indicate that, on average, the results of the percentage analysis of the level of student's critical thinking skills in class X high school in Plaju District is 49.46%, and Seberang Ulu II District is 56.52%. Both the percentage of indicators critical thinking skills in Plaju and Seberang Ulu II District are in the medium category.

The Effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Module to Empower the Studentsr Critical Thinking Skills

Critical thinking is one of the 4C skills of the 21 century have to be mastered by students to analyze the phenomena of science and think for the well-being in the world. Effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model to improve students’ critical thinking skills at senior high school

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills. Subjects in the research were 90 students at three groups of senior high school grade X on Tarik (Indonesia), which follows a physics lesson on static fluid material in academic year 2016/2017. The research was used one group pre-test and post-test design. Before and after being given physics learning with guided discovery learning model, students in the three groups were given the same test (pre-test and post-test). The results of this research showed: 1) there is an increased score of students' critical thinking skills in each group on  = 5%; 2) average N-gain of students' critical thinking skills of each group is a high category; and 3) average N-gain of the three groups did not differ. The conclusion of this research is that learning model of guided inquiry effective to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Students' Critical Thinking Ability: Descriptions Based on Thematic Learning Outcomes and Open Ended Application

Critical thinking ability is a high-level thinking ability which is one of component in the issue of 21st century intelligence. The purpose of this reserch is to determine students' critical thinking skills. The type research is descriptive research using quantitative methods. This research was conducted in SD Negeri 2 Pulutan, Penawangan District, Grobogan Regency. The population in this study were all fifth grade elementary schools in Grobogan Regency which were registered in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The sample was taken in fifth grade of SD Negeri 2 Pulutan that had 29 students. The data collection is done by multiple choice questions test as many as 20 items which all include indicators of critical thinking. The results showed that the percentage of students with the ability to answer thinking questions was quite critical at 53.2%, and less critical at 51.7%, and very uncritically at 13.8%. It shows that students' critical thinking skills are in the low category. The ability to think critically is very important in order to face the rapid changes in the life order and global changes. The application of open ended models is an appropriate effort because the goals and desires of students are built and achieved openly, and required to explain various ways to get the answers.

Improvement of Critical Thinking Skills of Students of Class X Natural Science in Senior High School (MAN 3) Kota Padang Panjang Using Animalia Guided Inquiry Learning Model

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of knowledge competencies, attitude competencies and skills competencies of students by using a guided inquiry model. The research subjects were class X MIA MAN 3 Kota Padang Panjang. The data analysis used in this study is qualitative analysis carried out descriptively. The design of this study uses classroom action research. This classroom action research was conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle of which was held 3 times. The results of this study indicate that the average score of knowledge, attitudes and skills of students of class X MIA has increased. The first cycle obtained an average of 77.87%, while in the second cycle there was an increase of 82,49%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students' critical thinking skills using guided inquiry models on Animalia material can improve the learning outcomes of students of class X MIA MAN 3 Kota Padang Panjang.
