Extant studies in the field of consumer behavior and information technology acceptance have established that adoption of electronic banking is determined by several factors. Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting, 2022
This paper considered the adoption of digital banking in Nigeria focusing on mobile banking and internet banking with a conceptual framework that extends Technology Acceptance Model. The model of this study incorporated additional variables that would stimulate the usage of digital banking in Nigeria. These conceptual framework variables include perceived usefulness, ease of use, security and banking regulations. Questionnaires were administered electronically and the set quota of 25 respondents per bank totaling 250 was met. Cronbach’s alpha test showed that the instrument had a value greater than 0.70 which implied that the research instrument was reliable. Purposeful sampling technique was used for sampling size estimation of the descriptive and inferential statistics while the author utilized multiple regression method to analyze the data. The result of the research revealed that motivation for adoption of digital banking proxied by (perceived usage, ease of use, security and ba...

Acceptance of Mobile Banking in Nigeria: A Modified TAM Approach
In order to reduce cash handling cost of banks amongst other objectives, the Central Bank of Nigeria introduced the ‘cashless policy’. The success of this policy hinges on the adoption of alternative payment systems one of which is mobile banking. Thus it is imperative for policy makers and other relevant stakeholders to anticipate and deal with inhibitions surrounding the adoption of mobile banking by bank customers in the country. This study investigates the determinants of mobile banking adoption in Nigeria using a modified version of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This incorporates Perceived Risk, Facilitating Conditions and Demographic Characteristics (Age, Gender, Educational Qualification and Income) to Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease-of-Use as determinants of Mobile Banking Adoption. We also propose that this relationship is mediated by attitude towards mobile banking adoption. A total of 250 bank customers from the Lagos area were selected and a structured questionnaire was designed and copies distributed to them. Data was analysed using multiple regression and computed using SPSS 20.0 computer application. Results show that Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease-of-Use, perceived Risk, Facilitating Conditions, Age, Educational Qualifications and Income significantly determine Mobile Banking Adoption. However, the relationship between gender and Mobile Banking Adoption is not significant. The outcome of this study has some implications to m-banking policy formulation and implementation. It also throws more light into what should be done to improve mbanking adoption rate in Nigeria
An Empirical Assessment of Customers’ Intention to Use Internet Banking In Nigeria
Research Journal of Finance and Accounting, 2014
This study investigated how customers perceived and behaviourally intended to use Internet Banking (IB) in Nigeria. Since the consolidation of the banking industry in Nigeria, it has become imperative for them to be able to survive. This led them to introduce internet and electronic banking in order to serve their customers efficiently, to make banking easier for them and also to gain competitive advantage in the industry. This sustainable competitive advantage can lead to the enhancement of industrial development that can bring about global partnership for development which is one of the pivotal goals of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Subjects for this study were three hundred and thirty-five bank customers in Oyo town, Oyo state, Nigeria. Three hypotheses were tested and the findings of the study revealed that perceived usefulness significantly predicted intention to use internet banking. The result also revealed that perceived web security had a direct relationship with intention to use internet banking. Furthermore, the result also showed that customers' attitude had a positive effect on intention to use internet banking. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended among others that bankers should improve the security features of their systems and stress their system security and the precaution functions they have implemented so that they can reassure their customers that internet banking is a safe mode of transaction.

A conceptual investigation of e-banking usage and adoption in Nigeria
2014
Practical and theoretical evidences have revealed that e-banking adoption in Nigeria is abysmally low when compared with some other African countries. This paper has therefore conceptually developed a framework that would investigate the causes and suggest some implications for going forward. This paper is basically a review of literature.Theoretical findings from this study indicate that for e-banking to be significantly adopted, issues relating to usefulness, ease of use, facilitating conditions and security must be seriously addressed by the banks management. Asides, efforts must be put in place to make sure that awareness about the availability of e-banking and its benefits spread to actual and potential users. When all this is done, the rate of satisfaction and trust among users will definitely improve and will significantly lead to high rate of adoption. The main limitation of this study is that it is conceptual in nature; future researchers can empirically test the proposed model...

The main objective of this study is to investigate factors that can predict adoption of ebanking in Nigeria. Specifically, it aims at investigating mediating influences of esatisfaction, e-trust and hedonic motivation on the relationship between e-banking adoption and its other determinants. The motivation of this study is driven by the inconsistent findings in the literature with respect to the relationships between e-banking adoption and its determinants: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived security and facilitating condition. In line with the inconsistencies, various suggestions have emerged pointing to the need to investigate the possible mediating variables that could explain the inconsistencies. For that purpose, this study employed theories of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Universal Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Social Exchange theory to synchronize the possible relationships among the variables in the conceptual framework.
