Work-related stress and performance among primary school teachers

Stress influences teachers’ performance and school effectiveness alike. The main objective of this study is to describe work-related stress and its eventual relationship with job performance of teachers working in primary schools of Boven Digoel district, Indonesia. To attain this objective, a survey study was employed by utilizing two survey questionnaires. Research data derived from a total of 352 primary school teachers who were incidentally established as samples. Data were statistically analyzed using Pearson’s correlation analysis. Result of data analysis shows a significant negative correlation between the work-related stress and job performance of teachers working in the primary schools of Boven Digoel district.

An Investigation of Factors Contributing to Job Stress for Secondary School Teachers in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak

Being a teacher had been recognized as a stressful job. Level of Teaching Related Stress among Public School Teachers in Balingoan District

This study aimed to determine the level of teaching-related stress in terms of Workload, Students’ Behavior and Responsive-ness of the Stakeholders and the extent of the level stress among the 120 Public School teachers of Balingoan District, Misamis Oriental Division. The significant relationship between teaching-related stress and extent of level of stress was also determined. The instruments used in this study were from Ferguson et al., (2017), for the teaching-related stress and for the Level of Stress, the Perceived Stress Questionnaire of Levenstein et al., (2012) was utilized. Findings revealed that teaching-related stress in terms of Workload, Students’ Behavior and Responsiveness of the Stakeholders have Significant Relationship to the Levels of Stress experienced by the teachers in the school. Moreover, data revealed that teachers are Most Stressed in terms of Responsiveness of the Stakeholders. The high levels of stress that teachers experience can be attributed to the lack of support from stakeholders and excessively demanding obligations that are associated with the teaching profession. In general, stress among teachers is commonplace and is becoming an increasingly significant problem. Therefore, it is recommended that the government and administrators should look at the possible intervention to minimize the level of stress of educators. However, if the stress is already pushing teachers to their breaking point and is uncontrollable, it is strongly suggested that they seek consultation and advice from professional experts.

A study on Stress and Job Performance among School Teachers of Karimnagar City

This is an effort to check the performance, and also the self interest in work setting of school teachers within the karimnagar town. The teacher job is generally connected with psychological feature work and had to deal with totally different psychology of students. There is plentiful scope for the academics in karimnagar with growing student community, on it basis large job chance for teaching jobs are in the job market. This scope and chance makes the willing people who are enthusiastic about teaching profession to do for a more robust career and standing within the society. With this growing situation creates pressure and stress on the mind-set of teachers of this region to succeed in teaching profession. Stress can be a cause to decrease the engagement with job and additionally results in reduce the performance of the workers. Stress has become vital because of dynamic factors and dynamic wants of teachers. Stress is man‗s adaptative reaction to associate outward state of affairs which might cause physical and behavioural changes. This paper is a trial to grasp the stress levels and performance of the teaching schools of karimnagar town and the way demographic factors impact on the strain and performance. A well structured questionnaire is circulated among the school teachers of karimnagar region and based on the responses given by them the analysis has done with statistical ways referred to as t-test, analysis of variance and Correlation between numerous variables. The interpretation is prepared on the analyzed reports of the information collected through questionnaire.

JOB STRESS AND PERFORMANCE: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TEACHERS WORKING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN CHAMARAJANAGAR DISTRICT

Teaching is perceived as the oldest and noblest of all professions. In the process of education, teachers occupy an important position, A teacher is the medium through which educational objectives and plans can be actualised. For this, the teacher must have sound, mental and physical health. Stress is common in every aspects of human walk. It is a universal phenomenon and now-a-days no organisation can claim to be stress free. Every job is challenging and more demanding. Each job requires high standard of performance, high quality and getting aspirations and expectation fulfilled. Every employee is forced to have a stressful and hectic lifestyle. The topic "Job Stress and Performance: An empirical study with special reference to teachers of higher educational institutions in Chamarajanagar District" was selected with the overall purpose of finding out the causes of job stress and their impact on performance of teachers. Further, the study also aimed to find out how they struggle with stress in higher educational institutions. Work environment involves the factors like working hour, work culture, Benefits, people, Recognition and Motivation and many more. By choosing working environment as a factor, the objective of the study is to identify the impact of working environment on occupational stress among teachers working in higher educational institutions. The data were collected from primary and secondary sources. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data from faculty members of different higher educational institutions in Chamarajnagar district. A sample of 100 faculty members working in higher educational institutions in Chamarajnagar district was considered for the study. The sample included assistant professors and associate professors. Percentage analysis and ANOVA were used as tools for the study. Bar diagram and Pie Figures were also used to represent statistical data. The result of the analysis indicates that, the teachers working in higher educational institutions work under pressure and suffers with occupational stress because of poor working environment.

Work-Related Stressors and Job Performance of Secondary Teachers: Basis for a Proposed Training Program

This study was conducted to determine the extent of work-related stressors of secondary teachers and its relationship to their job performance in secondary schools of Pasig City during the school year 2023-2024 to serve as a basis for a proposed training program. The design used in this study was descriptive correlational with the survey questionnaire as the main data gathering instrument. The weighted mean, t-test and Pearson r were the statistical tools used to treat the data. The respondents were composed of 236 teachers and five school heads in public secondary schools in District II, Division of Pasig City. Based on the findings, the teacher's extent of experience with work-related stressors based on the three key indicators (i.e. workload, students' behavior, and responsiveness to stakeholders), was moderate with a grand weighted mean of 1.58. in addition, Both the teachers and the school heads strongly agree with the indicators that describe the level of teacher's performance in terms of classroom management, lesson planning, lesson delivery and assessment of learning. Likewise, there was no significant relationship between the work-related stressors experienced by the teachers and their level of performance. Furthermore, stress prevention and management were deemed necessary, thus, was proposed in this study.

Personal and job related predictors of teacher stress and job performance among school teachers

The present study was conducted to find out role of personal and job related variables in teacher stress and job performance of school teachers. Furthermore, levels and sources of stress and their relationship with job performance among teachers were also explored. The measures used in this study were indigenously developed i.e., Teacher Stress Inventory (TSI-Urdu), Teachers Job Performance Scale and personal and job related Information sheet. Prevalence and factors associated with stress among secondary school teachers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia

The teaching profession is an occupation at high risk for stress. This research attempted to determine the prevalence of stress and the associated factors contributing to stress among teachers in Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 580 secondary school teachers in Kota Bharu District. The instrument used to carry out the study was adopted and modified from the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS 21) and Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ). The questionnaire consisted of two parts: Part I consisting non-job factors (socio-demographic characteristics) and Part II consisting of psychosocial factors contributing to stress. Simple and multiple linear regression analysis were carried out. The prevalence of stress was reported as 34.0%. Seventeen point four percent of teachers experienced mild stress. Age, duration of work and psychological job demands were significantly associated with stress level. This study indicates job-related factors did not contribute much to stress among secondary school teachers. Non-job-related factors should be further studied to determine methods for stress reduction in teachers in Malaysia.

Assessment of Stress and Its Risk Factors Among Primary School Teachers in the Klang Valley, Malaysia

This cross-sectional study determined the workplace stressors, stress levels, mental health status and their influencing factors, among primary school teachers in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. Methodology: Nine primary schools in Klang Valley which fulfil the inclusive criteria were randomly selected from a list obtained from the Ministry of Education website. Two hundred and seventy two teachers from the selected school, volunteered to participate in the study. A questionnaire was used to determine socio-demographic background, working information and medical history. Teacher Stress Inventory was used to measure the stressor and stress levels; while General Health Questionnaire was used to measure the mental health status. Result: Results showed that most of the teachers experience moderate stress level (71.7%) and only 12.1% had low mental health status. Student misbehaviour was the main stressor in the school environment (mean= 2.62). Gender (p=0.001) and workload (p=0.002) showed a significant contributing factors towards mental health status. Conclusion: These primary school teachers experience stress mainly due to the student misbehaviour and the mental well-being were influenced by the workload and gender. Women teachers with heavy workload had lower mental health status.

The role of demographic variables as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress among teachers in Sabah

A nationwide investigation into stress among teachers in the United Kingdom, found teachers to be reporting stress-related problems which were far higher than those of the population norms and other comparable occupational groups. Job stress can be influenced by personal factors (Matteson & Ivancevich, 1999). The present study examined the role of demographic variables as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress. A sample size of 177 teachers participated in this study revealed that teachers in Tawau and Lahad Datu experienced low stress levels. This study found that demographic variables do not serve as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress.
