The rapid change in global market and competition elevation, has increasingly made sales promotion strategies contemporary inevitable for market success. The study examines the strategic management of sales promotion techniques on products consumers of selected retail outlets in Calabar Metropolis, Cross River State, Nigeria. The study adopted the survey research design while a two stage sampling design: the stratified random and judgmental sampling were used in the sample selection. The one way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were adopted for data estimation. The study established that there is significant effect of free sample on products consumers in selected retail outlets in Calabar Metropolis. The study recommended that Retailers should endeavor to engage in sales promotions strategies vigorously as this would promote sales volume in order to obviate expiry date of some products on the shelf. Also, giving free products to consumers and charging a token should be discouraged, as this practice disenchant many consumers and impairs brand loyalty as many consumer are not ready to come back to patronize such product.

This study investigated the effect of sales promotion on customer patronage of household appliances in Lagos State. The purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of sales promotion (discount, premiums, and demonstration) on customer patronage of household appliances. The methodology used was based on a descriptive research design. Questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The sample size was determined using simple random sampling technique. The sample size was One hundred and twentyfour (124) respondents, which was further analyzed using multiple-regression analysis. The findings revealed that there is a positive significant effect of sales promotion in terms of discounts and demonstration used in marketing and sales of household appliances to drive customer patronage. This study is ananalysis ofselected Consumer Sales Promotional Tools Impact on Purchase Decision. The study populations were Consumers of Nestle Milo Products in Enugu South. The research design was survey design. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire. A sample of 200 consumers of Nestle Milo products in Enugu South was selected using convenience sampling method. Accordingly 200 copies of the questionnaire were administered on the sample selected and all the copies of the questionnaire were properly completed and returned. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, specifically, simple percentage, means and standard deviations. Sales Promotion and Consumer Loyalty: A Study of Nigerian Tecommunication Industry
In today's competitive business world customers are considered to be kings. Customers have several choices to make among alternative products, and they exercise a high level of influence in the market with respect to product size, quality and price. Hence, it is important for producers to meet the needs of customers in order to stay competitive. One of the marketing communication tools that is used in attracting the attention of the customer and build their loyalty is sales promotion. The aim of this paper therefore is to determine the effect of sales promotion on customer loyalty in the telecommunication industry. In this study, the survey method was used in gathering information from the respondents. Simple random sampling was used to select a sample size of 310, while descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were conducted with the aid of SPSS software. Producers spend a large part of their total marketing communication expenses on sales promotion. Hence, this paper attempts to find the effect of sales promotion on customer loyalty using a sample of customers of mobile telecommunication services. The paper found that, there is positive relationship between sales promotion and customer loyalty. More importantly, it was discovered that non-loyal customers are more prone to switch to competing products as a result of sales promotion than loyal customers.

The research focuses on sales promotion effectiveness in Coca-Cola and 7UP Soft Drink Companies in Lagos, Nigeria. The study is important because of the observable huge budget on sales promotion in the industry. The study adopted survey research design using structured questionnaire. The mean and percentage value of the respondents were used to analyze data. Findings showed sales promotion enhanced sales growth, differentiates products from competitors and advertising efficiency decline did not increase sales promotion useage. The study concluded that sales promotion is a veritable tool to achieve marketing promotion objectives.The study contributed to the wholesomeness of sales promotion theory with right track assurance to marketing practitioners.To have competitive edge, managers by implication must appreciate sales promotion potency.
Marketing strategies and consumers' purchasing behaviour in Ghana: A case of Nestle Ghana Limited
The role marketing strategies plays in influencing purchasing behaviors of consumers in various economies can never be overemphasized. However, this assertion requires further investigation with respect to consumers of Maggi seasoning products in Ghana especially those in Tamale metropolis. The study analyzed the effect of marketing strategies specifically sales promotion and perceived product quality on consumers' purchasing behavior toward Maggi products in the Tamale metropolis of Ghana. To achieve this goal, the study adopted the quantitative approach, descriptive design and structured questionnaire. Valid data sets were retrieved from 162 food vendors in Tamale Metropolis. The IBM SPSS Statistics software version 26 was employed to process the data and subsequently analyzed with both descriptive and inferential tools. The study found all the marketing strategies to significantly influence the purchasing behaviors of consumers of Maggi products focusing on food vendors within the Tamale metropolis, Ghana. As a result, the research found that marketing strategies, particularly sales promotion and perceived product quality, have a major role in encouraging consumers to make better purchasing preferences. According to the research, Nestle Ghana could use more comprehensive methods, such as unique sales promotion packages, better pricing, and better product concepts in order to guarantee high purchasing behavior among its clientele.
The promotional activities have become more sophisticated and an increasing number of companies are using them to ensure their survival in today’s competitive market. Essentially, the study analyzed the nature of sales promotional activities of Unilever Ghana Limited; determined factors that influence the consumption of Unilever products in Kumasi and finally examined the relationship between sales promotions and the consumption of Unilever products. Primary and secondary data sources were used to select 220 consumers of Unilever in Kumasi and an in-depth interview with the Managers of the companies in Kumasi. Modern business relies by and large to a great extent on sales promotion. In introducing and retaining a product or service, proponents of the product and service depend on sales and marketing promotions. It is against this backdrop that this study is borne to investigate the use of sales promotion as promotional strategy in the malt market in Nigeria using two malt drinks-Maltina and Malta Guinness as samples. The study investigated the effectiveness of sales promotion in the main market unit in the beverages industry in Nigeria. With 500 respondents and two Field managers in the two major malt producers in Nigeria, the study used survey method of data gathering using questionnaire and interview guide as instruments. It found out that sales promotion is an effective promotional tool for the introduction and retaining customers' loyalty and awareness.

The main objective of this study is to examine the impact of marketing strategies on the performance of Soft-drinks Manufacturing Companies in North-Central, Nigeria. The study investigated how product strategy, pricing strategy, promotional strategy and place/distribution strategy impacted on the performance of Soft-drink manufacturing companies in North-Central, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research method which involved the use of both primary and secondary sources of data. A total of one hundred and sixty four (164) Management Staff of Nigerian Bottling Company and 7-Up Bottling Company in North-Central, Nigeria were selected using stratified random sampling from the targeted population of three hundred and five (305). The data were analyzed using Multiple Regression Analysis and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) to test the formulated hypotheses in line with the objectives of the study. The major finding revealed that, "there is a significant relationship between Marketing Strategies and Performance of Soft-drink manufacturing companies in North-Central, Nigeria. The study however, recommends that Nigerian Bottling Company and 7-Up Bottling Company should continue to improve on their marketing strategies by producing quality soft-drinks with attractive package, design, test and application of appropriate pricing dimension for total customer satisfaction and subsequently, sustainable competitive advantage. The study concludes that the extent of the performance of any soft-drink manufacturing company is determined by the successful implementation of its marketing mix policies and strategies.

The major concern to Nigerian companies has been how do promote made in Nigeria food products like food seasoning that has been produced in line with our local taste and culture. It is in this context that this study seeks to examine the effects of sales promotion on the consumer buying behavior of food seasoning among Nigerian households using Nestle Nigeria Plc Maggi NAIJA POT brand as a case study. The study employed cross sectional research design and the population consists of consumers of Nestle product (Maggi seasoning) in Bwari Area Council, Abuja. The sample size is 246 determined using Topman’s formula. Primary data was used through administration of questionnaire and regression analysis was used to test the relationship between the study variables. The findings revealed that most of the consumers enjoy the rebates which influence their decision before, during and after the purchase; there is a positive effect of free trial and free gift on consumer buying behavior of Maggi NAIJAPOT in Bwari Area Council, Abuja. The study concluded that that sales promotion through rebates, free trial and free gifts is one significant tool marketing companies should give attention to in order to influence their consumers’ buying behavior, and recommended among others that providing free samples for food seasoning is a good technique to use in introducing new products to the Nigerian marketplace, also free gift should be included in the outer part of the product packaging to serve as a visual attraction to Nigerian consumers.
