An analysis of LSB & DCT based steganography
Global Journal of computer …, 2010
This paper presents analysis of Least Significant Bit (LSB) based Steganography and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) based Steganography. LSB based Steganography embed the text message in least significant bits of digital picture. Least significant bit (LSB) insertion is a common, simple approach to embedding information in a cover file. Unfortunately, it is vulnerable to even a small image manipulation. Converting an image from a format like GIF or BMP, which reconstructs the original message exactly (lossless compression) to a JPEG, which does not (lossy compression), and then back could destroy the information hidden in the LSBs.
A Novel Technique for Image Steganography Techniques Based on LSB and DCT Coefficients
IJSRD, 2014
Steganography is used to carry information from source to destination using public channel in such a way that only sender and intended receiver know that there is hidden message. This paper represents image steganography method that is based on LSB and DCT coefficients that provide randomized bits embedding inside the cover image. Firstly the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) apply on the cover image and then hiding the secret information in LSB of the cover image in random locations based on threshold value. Using DCT Coefficients value, Find the randomized pixel locations for hiding secret information and increase the security of system.
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF IMAGE STEGANOGRAPHY USING LSB,DCT AND DWT TECHNIQUES
. Steganography is the technique of hiding secret message within another message such that no one except the sender and the intended receiver suspects the existence of a secret message [1]. This hidden message can be plain text or even images. Image steganography is the art of inconspicuously hiding image within an image. In today’s world, there are a number of legitimate uses of steganography. This paper aims to provide a comparative analysis between various existing techniques such as LSB ( Least Significant Bit ) ,DCT ( Discrete Cosine Transform ) and DWT ( Discrete Wavelet Transform ) on four different aspects namely, undetectability, robustness, capacity and PSNR value. Our analysis shows that DWT is comparatively better. We also performed the noise analysis for the above methods. We used MATLAB version R2010 for our entire analysis.
Steganography: A Juxtaposition between LSB DCT, DWT
International Journal of Computer Applications, 2015
Steganography is the technique to concealing information to the extent which nobody, except for the transmitter and also the designated receiver, anticipate the presence of the hidden data. Steganography is the craft to concealing important information in such a way that restrict recognition. The Steganography utilized towards transportation important information from just one destination to some other location by using general public network as part of stealth way. Steganography hides the extremely existence of a information to ensure that if worthwhile that it usually appeals to no suspiciousness anyway. Steganography means that concealing a hidden information (the integrated message) inside a more substantial one (source cover) in such a way that an onlooker cannot identify the clear presence of contents of the hidden message [1]. A lot of different service provider file formats can be made use of, however digital images are the most prominent because of the consistency on the Internet. For hiding mysterious important facts in images, there exists a spacious assortment of Steganography strategies some are much more complicated as opposed to others and every one of them have respective robust as well as weak spots. Different programs have actually different specifications for the Steganography approach used. This Particular document promises to provide an introduction to image Steganography, its makes use of as well as strategies. It also initiatives to determine the prerequisites of a good Steganography algorithmic rule as well as quickly demonstrate upon which Steganography strategies tend to be more appropriate which applications.
Performance analysis of LSB, DCT, and DWT for digital watermarking application using steganography
2015 International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, Signals, Communication and Optimization (EESCO), 2015
ABSTRACT Digital watermarking have been used for maintaining copyright information of the digital media for a decade. Digital watermarking is a technique used for embedding copyright information in the media files. The media file could be an image, an audio, a video, or a text. Steganography have been used in the Digital watermarking application. Steganography has become more important due to the exponential growth of communication of potential computer information on the internet. Steganography differs from cryptography, such that cryptography hides the contents of secret message, whereas, steganography is about hiding the message in media effectively. This research article gives an overview of steganography, its applications, and difference from cryptography. This research article analyses performance of the Least Significant Bit (LSB), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT).
A Secure Image Steganography using LSB, DCT and Compression Techniques on Raw Images
2005 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Sensing and Information Processing, 2005
Steganography is an important area of research in recent years involving a number of applications. It is the science of embedding information into the cover image viz., text, video, and image (payload) without causing statistically significant modification to the cover image. The modern secure image steganography presents a challenging task of transferring the embedded information to the destination without being detected. In this paper we present an image based steganography that combines Least Significant Bit(LSB), Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT), and compression techniques on raw images to enhance the security of the payload. Initially, the LSB algorithm is used to embed the payload bits into the cover image to derive the stego-image. The stego-image is transformed from spatial domain to the frequency domain using DCT. Finally quantization and runlength coding algorithms are used for compressing the stego-image to enhance its security. It is observed that secure images with low MSE and BER are transferred without using any password, in comparison with earlier works.
A Review Of Image Security With Steganography Using Dct Coefficient And Encryption
2016
In the mid 1998s the rise of the internet & multimedia techniques has prompted increasing interest in hiding data in digital media. Early research concentrated on watermarking to protect copyrighted multimedia products. In today's growing world Image data security is the essential portion in communication and multimedia world .The least significant-bit (LSB) based technique is one of the popular for steganography. Medium integrity is an important issue in steganography, whenever one media is hidden into other the originality of cover media should not affect. Image Security with Steganography using DCT Coefficient and Encryption providing security of data & helps to avoid third party access of data is the challenging world. https://journalnx.com/journal-article/20150087
Security of Digital Images using Steganography Techniques based on LSB, DCT and Huffman Encoding
In insecure communication, data hiding techniques have an important role to protect private/important information from unauthorized access. Steganography is a hiding technique that hides the secret information inside the digital medium in undetectable manner. We believe that a good steganography technique requires high embedding capacity without compromising security as well. In this paper, an image steganography method based on combination of LSB, DCT and Huffman Encoding is proposed. Two 8 bit gray level images are used, first one as a cover image and second as a secret image. Before embedding the secret image inside cover image, Huffman Encoding is applied on the secret image to reduce the payload and hence embedding capacity is increased. Then Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is applied to obtain DCT coefficients of cover image. DCT coefficients are used to select random pixel locations for hiding bits of Huffman codes. The stego image is a result of hiding each bit from Huffman code of secret image in Least Significant Bit of the cover image at random locations based on threshold. The experimental result shows that the proposed algorithm has high embedding capacity and good invisibility of secret data. PSNR value is used to compare the result with other existing Steganography approaches. In addition, high security is maintained since the secret image cannot be extracted without the knowledge of decoding rules, Huffman table and the Key Matrix.
A steganographic method based on DCT and new quantization technique
2012 22nd International Conference on Computer Theory and Applications (ICCTA), 2012
In this paper, an efficient data hiding technique based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) of image is proposed. In this technique, the DCT coefficient is quantized using a predefined mathematical operation then the secret bits are embedded in all frequency component of the quantized DCT coefficient using least significant-bit (LSB) to enable a large message capacity. A comparison between the proposed method and other existing methods is introduced. The results demonstrated that the performance of the proposed method is satisfied compared to them.
