The most fundamental problem involved in the theory and practice of translation from one language into another consists in achieving adequacy between the source language (SL) and the target language (TL). Adequacy can be reached by means of employing the communication strategy, i.e. by discussing the dialogue nature of the text in particular; by analyzing realia in translation in terms of the text as a whole, rather than as isolated units in the system of language; and by looking at how the semantic category of intensity influences the translatability of the Russian fiction text into English. The research has shown that the aspects examined are typical of Russian-English translation in general rather than of a single text.
Aksana Ulanovich Understanding of the original text while translating phenomenological aspects
Understanding of the original text while translation: phenomenological aspects, 2015
Рассмотрение перевода как диалога языков, культур, национальных дискурсов позволяет выявить уникальные феноменологические особенности понимания оригинала при переводе. В отличие от общегносеологического явления понимания речи переводческое понимание текста исключает избыток субъективного видения, детерминировано установкой на потребителя перевода, допускает в диапазоне оценки «качественный перевод» некоторую вариативность с позиции полноты и глубины понимания в зависимости от условий перевода.
Individuality of Sholokhov in German (The Issue of Authorial Neologisms Translation)
2019
The author analyses neologisms of M. Sholokhov in relation to their translation into the German language. Then the quality of the translation is determined. In order to evaluate the translations three criteria are adopted: the degree of semantic closeness between the newly created units and their translation equivalents, their expressiveness and vividness. Based on these criteria the author evaluates the accuracy of the German translations.
