The Use of Twitter Application to Teach English
The advanced and continual technology development leads social media like Twitter as a daily life style. The implementation of it into language learning is a trend nowadays. The findings showed that students have positive perception and attitude toward the use of Twitter to learn English. It also revealed that students believe that Twitter is an online platform which is helpful for English learning especially for vocabulary building, grammar, writing and reading skill. In addition, Twitter helps students increasing their confidence in using English in their daily life.
The Perception on the Use Social Media in Learning English

The objective of the research is to know the perception offourth semester students of Universitas Muria Kudus on the use social media in learning English. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research and the data was collected by the used of questionnaire. The participants are 50 students of English Education Department of UniversitasMuria Kudus. The result showed social media have good perception for the fourth semester students of English Education Department of UniversitasMuria Kudus. Social media have provided rich resource to learn English. It indicats that social media has positive contribution for learning English they are listening, reading, writing and speaking skill.

Education in 21st century is dominated by the generation of digital natives who are greatly exposed to and participate in technology in their social and educational lives. There is no doubt that anything experienced in social life directly affects learners' educational experiences. Highly popular social networks are being used in almost every educational area. In the process of teaching English as a foreign language social networking sites enhance active participation of learners for real purposes. This helps them gain motivation and real life experience through gaining different roles, such as authors and readers. One of the most widely used social networking sites is Twitter, a microblogging platform. This study focuses on use of twitter as a microblogging platform by learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) at Anadolu University School of Foreign Languages. The study aims to gain insights about learners' perceptions of the use of Twitter in language learning process and how participants feel about their tweeting as an extra-curricular activity throughout 4 weeks, each consisting of three different hot topics either determined by the class teachers or by students themselves. The study based on voluntary participation, and the content had no relation with the curriculum. The participants answered a questionnaire and evaluated Twitter along with language learning process. The results reveal that Turkish learners had mostly positive opinions on using Twitter and stated that twitting messages facilitated their language learning experience. Including extracurricular activities, such as Twitter, into language teaching is suggested as a result of this study.

Students’ Perception on the Use of Social Media in Learning English at Tadulako University

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to explore students’ perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. The research design used in this study was qualitative research based on a case study approach, and the data were collected through interview transcripts and documents. The participants of this study were five students of the English education department of Tadulako University selected purposively. The results of descriptive analysis showed that most of the students had positive perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. Social media was believed to be helpful in improving students' English language skills. They stated that social media provides them with English content sources to practice their English skills, particularly listening, speaking, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Twitter Influence On Students’ Mindset and Motivation in Learning English

In the current rapidly-growing development of globalization era, Twitter has become one of the most favored social media among people, not to mention students. However, behind its popular use, there found no clear evidence regarding the impact of using the application on users. Therefore, this study will discuss about the influence of Twitter use on students, especially on their learning motivation and mindset. It employs a quantitative research method with explanatory research design, and it involves the 3 rdsemester students majoring at English teaching, IAIN Syekh Nurjati, Cirebon, as the research subject. The main instrument of this research is an online questionnaire via Google form. The result of this study indicated that Twitter influences student's learning motivation and mindset with several factors: making no excessive use in duration, following at least 3 educational accounts, and experiencing and feeling the positive impact of the educational content. Therefore, they feel that it provides a significant effect on their mindset and learning motivation.

The present study was intended to explore high-school students" perception of social media use for English learning. Eighty-three students at SMA Al-Hasra in Depok, Indonesia, were involved in this study. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study design using questionnaires and semi-structured interview as data collection methods. Basic statistical analysis was used to analyze data from the questionnaire, and the data from interviews were analyzed using the flow model by Miles and Huberman. The results indicated that the students in this study use social media for learning and improving their English. They choose YouTube as the most used social media for learning English. Further, they stated that social media provides them English content sources to practice their English skills, specifically listening, enlarges their vocabulary and increases their pronunciation knowledge. Besides, as social media provides a lot of English content, students can choose English content which they like anytime and anywhere. The situation creates a stress-free language environment for students to be comfortable and motivated to learn English outside school. Students also stated their challenge in using social media for learning, such as internet connection problems, privacy, and inappropriate content. This study aims to investigate the role of Twitter in improving the communicative competence of Saudi female senior students. It also aims to explore the students' attitudes toward integrating social networking tools into the language learning environment. To achieve these goals, 32 students, majoring in English at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, participated in the study. The data were collected through the use of a pre-post test, which included a set of questions; each of which tests one aspect of the communicative competence. A likerate-scale questionnaire was used to elicit the participants' attitudes towards the use of Twitter in the EFL environment. Results obtained from the analysis of the test and the questionnaire reveal that Twitter significantly improved the students' communicative competence; and provided them with motivation towards autonomous language learning. It turned out from the whole study that advanced Saudi learners of English need the chance to actively produce language and the chance to use English as a tool of communication.
THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ENGLISH LEARNING

Social media have changed the way people communicate and access information. Thus, the present study was conducted to explore university students' perception of social media use for English learning. The participants were 41 English-majored students at Tay Do University. The instrument was a questionnaire. The results showed that the students had positive feeling on using social media for learning English. Most of students admitted that they could improve their language skills through social media. They also stated the challenges in using social media for learning including Internet connection problems, privacy and distraction.
—This paper aims to demonstrate students' perception about the use of social media in learning English. The impact of social media for learning English is determined by an online survey, which was conducted from students with random division of male and female. Results of this survey shows that most of the female student respondents from both private and public sector schools consider social media as essential part of their learning process. The most popular social media forums used by students includes Edmodo, Google Plus, Google docs and YouTube. These platforms help student in better understanding of English in their secondary education. It plays a vital role as all the students doesn't have same fluency level and grip over every day English. Other than English, social media platforms also help them a lot in general learning.
