AdMathEduSt: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika

Low mathematics learning outcomes are thought to be related to several factors. These factors include learning discipline, interest in learning and learning environment at home. This study aims to determine the presence or absence of a positive and significant relationship between learning discipline, learning interest and learning environment at home with mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta in 2015/2016 Academic Year. The population in this study were all regular students of class VIII in the even semester of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta with 5 classes. A sample of 1 class with 27 students was taken by cluster random sampling technique obtained by class VIII B as a research class. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire method to determine the discipline of learning, interest in learning and learning environment at home students, and test methods to determine student learning outcomes in mathematics. To test the instrument using a validity test, reliability testing and distinguishing power test. After the data is collected, an analysis prerequisite test is conducted which includes a normality test, an independence test, and a linearity test. Data analysis for hypothesis testing uses product-moment correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis for 2 variables and multiple regression analysis for 3 variables. The results showed there was a positive and significant relationship between learning discipline, learning interest and learning environment at home with mathematics learning outcomes,

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INTEREST AND MATHEMATICS PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 9 STUDENTS

2022

This basic research entitled “RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INTEREST AND MATHEMATICS PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 9 STUDENTS OF LILO-AN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC” followed a correlational design of study which aimed primarily to determine if there exists a significant relationship between the interest and mathematics performance of the grade 9 students of Lilo-an National High School during COVID-19 pandemic. This study utilized a total of 95 respondents who were selected through simple random sampling. Data were gathered through a researcher-made 5-point Likert scale to measure the mathematics interest of the grade 9 students. Their final ratings in mathematics during the first quarter were also gathered to measure their mathematics performance. The collected data were statistically treated and analyzed using simple percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson r. It was found out that respondent’s interest in mathematics is average and their mathematics performance is satisfactory. Results revealed that there was a very high positive correlation between the interest and performance in mathematics of grade 9 students. Furthermore, hypothesis testing revealed that there was a strong positive significant relationship between students’ interest and performance in mathematics with r(93)=0.87, p<0.05. The findings implied that students’ interest towards mathematics affects their grades in mathematics and vice versa. This also emphasized the significant role, duty and responsibility of the teachers in improving the level of interest of students towards mathematics – motivating them to learn, love, and appreciate mathematics not just as a subject but as part of their daily living. Moreover, it was recommended to future researchers who opt to conduct related studies to utilize a more enhanced instrument and wider sample to come up with better results. Association of Interest, Attitude and Learning Habit in Mathematics Learning Towards Enhancing Students’ Achievement

Indonesian Journal of Science and Technology, 2021

Mathematics is fundamentally important for Science and Technology, as well as in engineering. Mathematics is compulsory for students since all engineering subjects were Mathematically oriented. However, the preliminary study found that students’ achievement in Mathematics courses have been associated with three main factors, namely interest, attitude and learning habit, as in the KASH Model (Knowledge, Attitude, Skills and Habits). This Model stipulated that poor performance is not just lacking in knowledge and skills but also including poor attitude and habits. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the students’ level and relationship between interest, attitude and learning habit based on KASH Model. A total of 58 students were selected as a sample of the study, who enrolled in the Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Solid Mechanics subjects. A set of questionnaires with 21 items was used to collect data; a descriptively analysis was used to find the mean and percentage, as wel...
