Abstract: This is an analysis of the Tawḥīdī worldview from the standpoints of moral epistemology and moral psychology. The aim is to explore some of the implications that the names and attributes of Allah could have on the Muslims’ moral thoughts and behaviours. In recent times, the names and attributes of Allah have attracted little academic focus, despite their potential to be employed as frameworks to discuss and address many issues. This paper, therefore, seeks to demonstrate that the names and attributes of Allah are veritable reservoirs that could be explored for moral knowledge and paradigms. It indicates how they could serve as guides to moral reasoning, bases for moral consciousness and also sources of moral motivation. This is attempted through a qualitative method of an inductive approach, and it entails a conceptual analysis of selected names and attributes of Allah based on the Quranic contextual usage. The paper, therefore, holds the view that each of the names or attributes of Allah has moral-related concepts that could inform Muslims’ moral thoughts and values, and they could also serve as bases for moral conduct and character (re)formation.
Tawheed is the leading principle of the Islamic faith without which an individual is not considered a Muslim and its violation for those already believed will automatically result into the nullification of their faith. The Quran and the Hadith of the Prophet are very explicit on this issue; this is why the Muslim scholars of all ages in their wettings labored hard to preserve the true teachings and proper understanding of this major principle of this faith. This study therefore asses the observations of these scholars regarding this principle in view of what it means, affirmation of its lofty position, the main theme of all prophets and messengers commissioned by the Almighty Allah and its influence on a Muslim's daily life. The study uses a textual analysis methodology. The study concludes by assessing the role of this principle in guiding Muslims to the straight path by fully implementing Allah's commandments, something that will have a positive effect on their behavior and determination as effective vicegerents on earth and a guiding principle to their education system.

The Islamic Worldview (Concept of Tawhed) and Secular Worldview
Introduction: A correct understanding of the fundamental elements in the Islamic worldview vision is a pre-requisite for the development of Islamic understanding. This assignment begins by putting forward a conceptual understanding of these fundamental elements which include the nature of man, the universe and the concept of din. The assignment argues that due to differences in the Islamic worldview vision to those of western or secular worldview, with the methodological framework in Islamic scholarship, the development of Islamic world thought differs. While internal logic, coherence and consistency are necessary conditions for scientific exposition, Islamic worldview should be evaluated within its own framework and using its own criteria. Within acceptable parameters determined by revelation, this assignment also argues that varying opinions in worldview are possible and probable. When Muslim scholars speak of Islamic worldview, to the contemporary secular scholars, some basic ideas and concepts may seem contradictory or at the least, meaningless. The very idea that a religion can determine Islamic worldview ideas would be dismissed as incoherent and emotional by the majority of contemporary western seculars. Naturally the positive impact of Worldview is to: 1. Helps us to know peoples and their cultures. 2. Helps us to interact with nature, individuals, nations, cultures and civilizations. 3. Helps us to correct our own values, perspectives, attitudes and behaviors. 4. Helps us to formulate theories of politics, sociology, culture, etc.
Revisiting Contemporary Islamic Values
Researchers World : Journal of Arts, Science and Commerce, 2019
This paper attempts to revisit the state of contemporary Islamic values, especially in their present usage. The contemporary Islamic values seem to have been molded by the needs and trends of the changing world, while their usage seems to be meant more of worldly pursuit rather the pursuit of the world here after, let alone the balance between the two. Based on a library research, this paper observes four factors that are attributable to the shaping of the contemporary Islamic values. They are the intentional or unintentional efforts of firstly universalizing, secondly realigning, thirdly accommodating, and fourthly 'scientificing' the Islamic values. These are the factors that are believed to have entailed with the present form of the Islamic values. If this form of Islamic values were to be adopted in developing guidelines for a meaningful peace and harmony amongst various civilizations and mankind, it may mean an effort that is based on an incomprehensive meaning of the Islamic values, hence an imprecise diagnose and prescription of the problems of civilization.

There is no separate discipline of ethics in Islam, and the comparative importance of reason and revelation in determining moral values is open to debate. For most Muslims, what is considered halāl (permitted) and harām (forbidden) in Islam is understood in terms of what God defines as right and good. There are three main kinds of values: (a) akhlāq, which refers to the duties and responsibilities set out in the shari‘ah and in Islamic teaching generally; (b) adab, which refers to the manners associated with good breeding; and (c) the qualities of character possessed by a good Muslim, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad. Among the main differences between Islamic and western morality is the emphasis on timeless religious principles, the role of the law in enforcing morality, the different understanding of rights, the rejection of moral autonomy as a goal of moral education, and the stress on reward in the Hereafter as a motivator of moral behavior. An Islamic life system c...
Call for the Return to the Qualities of the Traditional Muslim Mind
Dinamika Ilmu, 2021
The world we live today has undergone a dramatic change in values, science and technology. In a world so divided with contending ideologies and worldviews, humanity as a whole has derailed from its philosophy of co-existence, tolerance and mutual respect for one another’s faith and culture. The war that should have ended with the formation of the United Nations is still raging in many parts of the world. News and business are controlled by some powerful conglomerates. The gap between the haves and have not’s still persists. In the wake of the present global condition, Muslims and their religion are targeted and falsely labeled as a global threat. This apparent situation of the world calls for the new generation of Muslims to think and re-evaluate on how to respond to the challenges and criticisms that come from others. Moreover, they have to carve out new ways to co-exist with others and on how to preserve their religion and cultural heritage of the past. Through this paper, the researchers intend to investigate the style of thinking of the great Muslim scholars during the heydays of the Islamic civilization and propose the importance of reviving such an orientation of thinking in the contemporary Muslim world. As a qualitative study, the researchers intend to present some historical evidence on the remarkable achievement of the Muslim scholars of the bygone centuries. The textual and document analysis methods will be employed in interpreting the relevant data of the study. Pertinent data related to the research will be retrieved from print and electronic media.

Therefore, this study shows the influence and relationship of Islamic moral values to human beings’ behaviour in the rapid change in social life. The moral and spiritual teachings of the noble prophet are a living reality and still dominate different spheres of daily life in the Muslim world.
