The background to the implementation of this research was the low critical thinking skills of students at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliserangkai. The objectives of this research are: (1) To determine students' critical thinking abilities in science learning using the Problem Based Learning learning model at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliserangkai. (2) Describe the learning process using the Problem Based Learning learning model in science learning at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliserangkai. The instruments used in this research are: (1) Test of students' critical thinking abilities, (2) Questionnaire sheet for students' critical thinking abilities, (3) Observation sheet to observe the learning process. Research results: (1) The critical thinking ability of students in science learning using the Problem Based Learning learning model is an average value (mean) of 73.76 in the good category, the standard deviation is 7.805 and for each indicator of critical thinking ability is at the stage of providing a simple explanation was obtained by 85.93%, the stage of building basic skills was obtained by 84.41%, the stage of making inferences or conclusions was 79.59%, the stage of making further explanations was obtained by 82.76%, and the stage of organizing strategies and technique obtained a percentage of 81.38%. (2) The learning process using the Problem Based Learning learning model in science learning at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliserangkai obtained results of 86.96% classified as Good.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan problem based learning dalam upaya mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa PGSD FKIP UMK Kudus pada mata kuliah Pembelajaran Sains. Salah satu keunggulan dari model pembelajaran problem based learning yaitu mampu melatih mahasiswa dalam menggunakan berbagai konsep, prinsip dan keterampilan yang telah mereka pelajari untuk memecahkan permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi. Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah Untuk Menumbuhkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa
The implementation of problem based learning model to grow students' critical thinking ability. The aim of this study were to (1) grow students' critical thinking ability by implementing problem based learning model, and (2) describe the application of problem based learning model in an experiment class. The design of this research used non-equivalent control group design. The results showed that (1) problem based learning model had grown students' critical thinking ability, which was proven by the experiment and control class obtained N-gain 0.71 (high category) and 0.55 (medium category), and (2) problem based learning model has been applied in average score 3.82 (good category). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis kontekstual terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa tahun akademik 2017/2018. Penelitain ini penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus yang terdiri dari tahapan setiap siklus meliputi (1) perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan tindakan, (3) observasi, (4) refleksi. This research aims to finding out and study the achievement and improvement off critical thinking skill off junior high school student with Problem Based Learning approach and using ordinary approach. The method used is an experimental method that involves two classes chosen at random selected classes i.e. VII A class using the Problem Baseed Learning and class VII B using a regular learning approach. The instrumen using is critical thingking skill. The results test analysis of postes data the value sig (2-tailed) is 0.002, while the test results of the difference of two average data gain, sig value (2-tailed) is 0.003. Lesson Study is considered effective to be used to improve the quality of learning. Lesson Study implementation can be assisted by the application of problem-based learning model (PBL). Through PBL students' critical thinking skills can be improved. The purpose of the research in this article is to increase students' critical thinking skills within the framework of Lesson Study through a problem-based learning model. The method used in this research is a qualitative-quantitative method with the type of action research. Qualitative data were obtained from observation sheets, while quantitative data were obtained from student learning outcomes. The success of research based on qualitative data if 80% of the implementation of learning is in accordance with the learning scenario, while the success of quantitative data is obtained if at least 65% of students get good grades.
