A novel method for Arduino based electric vehicle emulator
International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2021
This article presents the design of the test station, which is accessible for the testing of electric bicycles. In this process, a low-power Brushless Dc traction vehicle or a high-powered motor scaled analogue in traction and braking modes. The Traction Drive Load Simulator is used by the PMBLDC engine powered by a Dc-Dc converter. The Arduino controller controls the two-way Dc-Dc converter and sends the speed comparison signal to the frequency converter Furthermore, electrical and mechanical parameters such as voltage, current and speed have been observed. The particularity of this method lies in a stringent testing environment that makes it possible to determine the propulsive unit of the vehicle's potentially most extreme stack. Electronic brakes have the ability to rate, stack, detach, pace. The input voltage, current, and control of the battery are connected. It's conceivable to add to the abilities of the bike.
DC Drive Testing for Prototype Electric Vehicles
2017
The shortcoming of fuel in the future has forced by the government and car manufacture to find new power source to propel the vehicle. Electric vehicle is one of solution of this problem. The aim of this research is to investigate main component of propulsion system of electric vehicle namely battery, DC-DC converter, motor drive and motor. Since building actual vehicle is expensive, the component ratings were reduced to save money. From the experiments, it was found that each component need is critical and need detailed analysis to produce a reliable and energy-efficient electric vehicle.
Design Of An Experimental Setup To Study The Drives Of Battery Electric Vehicles
2013
This paper describes the design considerations of an experimental setup for research and exploring the drives of batteryfed electric vehicles. Effective setup composition and its components are discussed. With experimental setup described in this paper, durability and functional tests can be procured to the customers. Multiple experiments are performed in the form of steady-state system exploring, acceleration programs, multi-step tests (speed control, torque control), load collectives or close-to-reality driving tests (driving simulation). Main focus of the functional testing is on the measurements of power and energy efficiency and investigations in driving simulation mode, which are used for application purposes. In order to enable the examination of the drive trains beyond standard modes of operation, different other parameters can be studied also.
Modernization of Experimental Electric Vehicle Drive System
Transactions on Electrical Engineering, 2019
Modernization consists of a new compact drive unit for the Citröen Berlingo Electrique electric vehicle. The drive unit integrates a power converter for the traction motor, a DC/DC low voltage converter, an on board charger and an electronic control unit (ECU). The new aircooled power converter is lightweight and more efficient due to a modern equipment used. The new ECU uses controller area network (CAN) to communicate with the power converters and also collects all the measured data that can be transferred in real-time during drive. This vehicle also currently provides a test and measurement platform for Master's Degree students.
A Survey on Traction Motor and Its Prototyping Method for Electric Vehicle Application
Journal of Electrical, Electronic, Information, and Communication Technology
Electric vehicle (EVs) is the main solution to reduce air pollution from the transportation sector. The main component of an EV is the propulsion system, energy storage system, and auxiliary system. The propulsion system is consisting of a motor and its drives, while the energy storage system is a battery or other energy storage and its management system. Whereas the auxiliary is like a lamp and air conditioner. This research aims to review some electric motors and their prototyping method of an EV. There are several methods for programming electric motor drives in EVs. One of the fastest solutions in fast prototyping in the motor drive of an EV is using the Hardware in the Loop (HIL) method. These papers can be used as references to determine the type of traction motor used in EVs and the method for doing rapid prototyping of it.
Sustainability , 2022
In engineering education, traditional teaching approaches cannot sufficiently help students to learn electric vehicle (EV) concepts. In this study, the design of an educational test setup including all the components and all dynamics of EVs is implemented, and case studies for engineering education with practical applications are discussed. The proposed test and training platform not only provides hands-on experience for engineering students, but also the opportunity for expert users to test their own designed algorithms on the test setup through a computer and human–machine interface device. The aim of the study is to show students the effects of road slope, vehicle weight and energy recovery parameters on a light EV. In this context, five case studies have been carried out by the students, and a survey was conducted with them. The survey results show that the test setup can help them better comprehend any EV system and develop their professional knowledge and skills.
Simulation of Electric Vehicle and Comparison of Electric Power Demand with Different Drive Cycle
Electric vehicles are gaining popularity and power and different analysis are performed on a simulated electric vehicle .This paper presents a method to model and simulate an electric vehicle according of newton's law of motion. Dimension analysis will be used to find power and energy required to propel the forward at specified drive profile. I INTRODUCTION This paper contributes to develop a method to model and simulate electric vehicle very simply by using modified equations derived from newton's law of motion. Electric vehicles are getting very popular due to several reasons like environmental impacts of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) based vehicle, rapidly increasing fuel cost and depleting fossil fuel reserves. Also lot of research are going in this field to develop better subsystems of electric vehicle example hybrid energy storage system, power train components, mechanical power transmission mechanism system etc. For the development of any such system need to accura...
Development of an electric drive system for conventional automobiles
Numerous studies have been conducted on electric motor driven vehicles powered by different energy sources. Solar energy, fuel cells and super capacitors are a few alternative energy sources that can be used to power the motors of an electric vehicle. Several obstacles still remain in the way of popularizing electric vehicles, namely their range, and the time needed to recharge. In this research it is attempted to bring the electric car to a wider audience, by physically converting used automobiles to electric power and researching its potential as a fully electric automobile. A compact car was converted into a battery powered electrically driven automobile with minimum modifications to the original car. The engine of the car was removed but the original gear box was kept unchanged for more versatility.
