The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has spread all over the world and it has affected voluminously everyday lives of billions. Social consequences and virus spread that needs to be addressed to take proper action to resolve the challenges faced during this pandemic period. The pandemic needs proper surveillance, monitoring, diagnosis, and identification of infected patients. Most researchers continue to give ways to detect and control the pandemic diseases of this type. Pandemic has made researchers from all areas and virologists consider cross-disciplinary approaches to combat with COVID-19. It needs to be immediate decisions to deal with uncertain conditions. During such a pandemic, the incorporation of healthcare technologies would bring about many solutions with high benefits. Reliable, sustainable, and accessible approaches can be the emphasis of the new digital healthcare approach. In this direction, IoT based smart solutions are introduced and analyzed. The emergencies spanning the globe demand a smart healthcare solution to manage people's lives at every stage. The first pandemic break-out in any part of the world needs early detection of disease and infected individuals to take reasonable measures forward to contain the spread. Web and Mobile based IoT system integrated with healthcare to support the solution that needs to be solved by the emergency posed during this pandemic. To locate COVID-19 cases and reduce the effects of the pandemic, IoT-enabled cognitive solutions are provided. It also addresses new ubiquitous technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics with new innovative methods to integrate the solutions, including wearable devices, RFID, GPS, mobile apps, etc. Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, the benefits and operational difficulties faced in digitizing these healthcare-cognitive IoT approaches are analyzed. The study would also address internal and external concerns such as practicality, cost, time to measure and execute, and coverage for implementation of this solution. These solutions may include human-machine interaction with the right decision-making capabilities. The paper also focuses on the ethical issues raised in introducing modern interoperable and predictive Healthcare IoT solutions.
Automatic Health Machine for COVID-19 and Other Emergencies
2021 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS), 2021
The novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) is a pandemic of unimaginable proportion and magnitude that is posing a great challenge worldwide to the medical industry in the 21st century. It has completely changed the texture of life to a greater extent. The increasing number of victims succumbing to the disease has created an indelible fear in the minds of the people who are afraid to access even the basic healthcare facilities. This paper deals with the Automatic Health Machine (AHM) which uses IoT and Artificial Intelligence technologies to help users access medical facilities during a pandemic and medical emergency mostly in rural and urban areas. The AHM provides complete virtual health checkup, connects with the doctor or specialist online and books appointments for the swab test or ambulance in case of emergency based on the patient's condition, dispenses the swab test or emergency medicines and electronic prescription to patients for later reference. The services of the AHM are accessible to all individuals using "Smart Health Card". According to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-3) proposed by the United Nations, the AHM ensures the wellbeing of all ages in society and increases the survival rate during unprecedented times like a pandemic/epidemic. We collaborated with industries and hospitals to understand healthcare/patients' requirements considering pandemic and post-pandemic. We conducted virtual workshops with the COVID-recovered patients and frontline nurses and doctors. As an overall outcome, the healthcare professionals feel the system can be adopted in an area where medical facility is not available immediately. Thus, our work has led to a patent being published in India and USA.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented spotlight to the healthcare sector across the globe. It has revealed the weak links as well as neglected aspects of the healthcare sector. The aspects like data collection about patients, access to and outreach of authentic information in times of pandemics and use of technology for collaboration among medical researchers and workers have been overlooked for a long period of time. As the world is watching an inflection point of the digital technology era, it is highly imperative to analyze where these two supposedly separate sectors converge. This research paper has attempted to do the same. A systematic literature review of twenty research papers have been done to know impact of artificial intelligence in dealing with COVID-19 problem. The benefits offered by the technological revolution, namely technology 4.0, to the healthcare sector has been analyzed in this paper with a special emphasis on the role of Artificial Intelligence. Adoption of latest technology in collating patients handling systems, supply of medicines and other medical requirements, collaboration in the areas of research and development amid COVID-19 are few of the aspects of the paper. There is an immediate need for a technology embedded in healthcare system.
A critical review of emerging technologies for tackling COVID-19 pandemic
Human Behavior and Emerging Technologies, 2020
COVID-19 pandemic affects people in various ways and continues to spread globally. Researches are ongoing to develop vaccines and traditional methods of Medicine and Biology have been applied in diagnosis and treatment. Though there are success stories of recovered cases as of November 10, 2020, there are no approved treatments and vaccines for COVID-19. As the pandemic continues to spread, current measures rely on prevention, surveillance, and containment. In light of this, emerging technologies for tackling COVID-19 become inevitable. Emerging technologies including geospatial technology, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, telemedicine, blockchain, 5G technology, smart applications, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), robotics, and additive manufacturing are substantially important for COVID-19 detecting, monitoring, diagnosing, screening, surveillance, mapping, tracking, and creating awareness. Therefore, this study aimed at providing a comprehensive review of these technologies for tackling COVID-19 with emphasis on the features, challenges, and country of domiciliation. Our results show that performance of the emerging technologies is not yet stable due to nonavailability of enough COVID-19 dataset, inconsistency in some of the dataset available, nonaggregation of the dataset due to contrasting data format, missing data, and noise. Moreover, the security and privacy of people's health information is not totally guaranteed. Thus, further research is required to strengthen the current technologies and there is a strong need for the emergence of a robust computationally intelligent model for early differential diagnosis of COVID-19.
Protection System for Medical Workers from (COVID-19) patients Using IOT
2020
Since appearing in Wuhan, China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 183 countries and regions. On February 12, 2020, WHO officially named the disease caused by the novel coronavirus as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).This disease distributing from human to human very quickly. More than 1.29 million cases have been reported worldwide. Many doctors affecting from this disease due to lack of safety gears. IoT is the internetwork of physical objects or "things" that are embedded with software and sensors to collect and send data between them and central servers with minimum human intervention. This term support in hospital system and(COVID-19) patient to decrease the spreading this disease from patient to doctor. In this method, IoT used in medical areas like real-time monitoring, patient information management, medical emergency management of (COVID-19) patient .This method is centered on deep learning techniques that will definitely help the doctors to detect the disease (COVID-19) safely. The thermal camera technology is integrated to the smart helmet and combined with IoT technology for monitoring of the screening process to get the real time data. In addition, the proposed system is Equipped with the facial-recognition technology, it can also display the pedestrian's personal information which can automatically take pedestrians' temperatures. This proposed design has a high in demands from the healthcare system and can potentially help to prevent for corona virus spreading wider.
