Bullying Among the Students of Secondary Public School of Kathmandu

School bullying has been identified as a problematic behavior among adolescents, affecting school achievement, prosocial skills, and psychological well-being for both victims and perpetrators. The purpose of this study was to identify different ways of bullying among 77 students of public secondary school, in Kathmandu, Nepal. A descriptive, crosssectional study design was carried out to study bullying among students in grade nine. Semistructured questionnaire related to sociodemographic information and factors associated with bullying was used along with Olweus Bullying Questionnaire. The mean age of respondents was 15.5 years. Victims faced bullies like verbal, physical, social, relational, and cyber-related bullying. About 87% of respondents experienced verbal bullying. according to respondents the major reason for bullying was their physical weakness (84.4%).

Background: Bullying victimization among adolescents is a serious concern as it leads to poor psycho-social adjustments in the future. Literature on bullying at schools in Kerala is limited. This study aimed to investigate the magnitude of bullying and the factors associated with it among adolescents. Methods: A sequential explanatory study design was used. A cross-sectional study among 764 adolescents (mean age 13.3 years, males 58.5%) selected through multistage cluster sampling was done. We used the Olweus Bully-Victim Questionnaire, Global School Health Survey, and Patient Health Questionnaire 9 for data collection. Binary logistic regression was performed to identify predictors of bullying victimization. After this, in-depth interviews were carried out among key stakeholders. Profile of Bullies and Victims Among Urban School - going Adolescent in Gujarat

To assess the prevalence of bullying, identifying bullies, victims and their associations. Questionnaire having 'Peer Interaction in Primary Schools' and 'Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire' scales, and demographic information was administered to 7th, 8th and 9th graders (N=1106). Prevalence of bullying was 49%. Boys were more likely to be bullies (P=0.03), whereas students having less friends (P=0.001), overweight/obese (P=0.02), and boys (P<0.001) were more likely to be victims. Association between bullying behavior and poor academic performance was noted. We found high prevalence of bullying. The reasons for the same and scope of intervention needs further study.

Bullying is a severe problem in Indonesia. West Java has a higher rate of bullying cases, where Bandung City is the highest rating among other districts in West Java. This study aims to explore school bullying in Bandung City from the perspective of the bullied students. This study will help to get a better understanding of the reasons students being bullied, locations of bullying incidents in school, and to whom students reported being bullied at schools. This article hopefully will contribute to helping stop bullying at school. Samples of this study were elementary school students age 10-14 year-olds (N = 329; 46.2% boys; 53.8% girls). Samples were chosen randomly using a stratified cluster random sampling technique. Instruments used in this study were from Children's Worlds Survey, which have been adapted into Indonesian. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. All calculations were done with SPSS version 23. Results showed that physical condition and appearance are the reasons for girls being bullied while being well-known at school and religion are the reasons for boys being bullied. Bullying incidents mostly happen in the classroom and the school corridor. Students were preferring to tell parents about being bullied at school rather than telling the teacher.

Background: Bullying among adolescents is a global public health issue and has adverse behavioral and mental health consequences, yet a little is known about the relationship between bullying victimization and adverse health behaviors in adolescence in South Asian countries. Methods: Data for this cross-sectional analysis were extracted from the global school-based student health survey (GSHS) in Bangladesh (n = 2,989), 2014 and in Nepal (n = 6,529), 2015. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify the associations between bullying victimization and adverse health behaviors or outcomes: physical violence, sexual history, tobacco use, alcohol use, drug use, suicide ideation, plan, attempt, loneliness, and sleeping difficulty. Results: The prevalence of bullying victimization that occurred for a minimum of 1 day during the 30 days preceding the survey was 24.5% in Bangladesh and 50.9% in Nepal. A Systematic Review of Bullying and Victimization Among Adolescents in India

This study provides a systematic review of literature from India on traditional bullying and victimization among school-going adolescents. A search of bibliographic electronic databases PsycINFO, MEDLINE, ERIC, Web of Science, and PubMed was performed in May 2020. Thirty-seven studies were included in the review. For each study included, the following specifics were examined: (a) methodological characteristics, (b) prevalence estimates of bullying behavior, (c) forms of bullying, (d) risk factors, and (e) consequences of bullying. It was found that bullying happens in India, and some risk factors for bullying and victimization in India are typical to the Indian context. In addition, bullying in India is associated with adverse consequences for both the aggressor and the victim. Bullying and Its Impact on School Going Adolescents

Bullying among adolescents is seen commonly in schools. The aim of the present study is to study the nature of bullying and its relationship with the mental health of the adolescents. The adolescents were the school going students at a Government Boys Senior Secondary School. The data were collected using Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument (APRI) by Parada (2000) and the Mental Health Inventory (MHI) developed by Jagdish and Srivastava (1983). The adolescents were defined as bully or victim on the basis of the results of APRI. The results showed that 49.68% adolescents were involved in different acts of bullying. Another 26.37% reported being a bully and 24.46% reported being a victim. Verbal bullying was found to be more common form of bullying as compared to social bullying and physical bullying. It may be concluded that bullying and mental health are negatively correlated. Bully had a positive relationship with positive self-evaluation. Total victims had a negative and significant correlation with environmental mastery. Adolescents being bully or victim had greater chances of problems related to mental health, such as depression, anxiety, problem in decision making, irritation, concentration, adjustment and low self-confidence.
A Study of Bullying Prevalence Among Secondry School Students

The present study investigated extent of bullying among secondary school students along with intervention of adults like teachers, parents, elders to prevent bullying and involvement of students in bullying. The researcher also made an attempt to study different forms of bullying and the extent of bullying among boys and girls. Sample selected was 444students in which 269 boys and 175 girls are included from secondary school students of SSC board from greater Mumbai. Tool used for present study personal data sheet, olweus bully victim questionnaire were used to collect data. It was found that 17-16 %girls and boys reported that they getting bullied and also reported that they don't have friends.32% girls and 34 %boys reported that they getting bullied for longer time duration and also found shorter period bullying is more in girls than boys. Surprisingly reporting of bullying to class teacher is shown more by boys than girls.
